Vampire Huntress is not your typical vampire book written by Rosemary Johns. The plot is not very straight forward and I struggled quite a bit trying to figure out what the author was trying to convey with this story. It seemed very aimless for quite a while but mostly focused on Violet meeting Rebel and realizes she is not WHAT she thought she is and is trying to figure out what she is but is not getting any answers. I admit I really struggled with this book a lot. It is very violent, but in an odd way that, where Violet goes from 0 to 100 in no time just to go back to 0 just as quickly. There just doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason for a lot of her actions. I understand anger and frustration, but her actions just don't seem to make sense.

Rebel on the other hand is a somewhat man-child who on some occasions is definitely a full blown adult yet on others you are not sure if he acts older than a young child, and I mean that literally in both actions and how he talks. It is beyond confusing. It is confusing on where he stands on what he means pretty much all of the time.

Ash is probably the only straight forward character besides the "bad guys" and him I actually liked quite a bit. I can't really say I liked the "bad guys" which I am not really sure who that all entails since as I said this plot is confusing and the lines are not clearly drawn.

The author also seems to try to make an intricate plot but instead leaves more of a mess in my eyes. It takes a long time to make clear what the differences of vampires, the fallen vs angels are and even now I am not fully sure that I have it right and what the point of it all is. I admit this book is not for me, maybe it is just too complicated for me and I don't understand it enough to fully appreciate it.

Voluntary review of Advance Reader Copy. I was given a complimentary copy of this book by the publisher.

I’ll preface this review by stating that I am generally not a reader of paranormal Urban Fantasy/romance. I find a great deal of the books in this genre to feature weak pining women obsessing over perfect men that have special beautifying powers, and I often find it all too much to handle.

That said, I absolutely adored this book. Rosemary A. Johns’ take on the genre breaks many tropes. Her MC , Violet, is a tough, crass sometimes volatile person with an actual back story that gives her more depth than the norm for these stories. Rebel, while seeming much the quintessential romance novel James Dean, is in fact far more complex with a story of his own and never seems to simply be a paragon of perfection for Violet to pine over.

That said, none of this really mattered to me. The plot was fine, and the novel was fast moving and full of action, but what sold me not only on this book, but on going forward with the series, was Johns’ prose.

This is a brilliantly written, abstract , witty novel with a highly literary style. Johns seems to at times invoke classic authors like Joyce, with her stream of consciousness prose and inner monologues. This to me is what made the novel unique. There is a cheeky British feel throughout the novel that is often apparent in works by Neil Gaiman and Mike Carey, which while some may find challenging, I found perfect.

I would classify Rosemary A. Johns’ Vampire Huntress as the Paranormal Vampire Romance novel, not only for fans of the genre, but for those that would never dream of trying one. Johns is a truly gifted author, and this was without a doubt one of my favorite reads this year.

Rosemary John's just blew me away again. I thought after her other 5 star series, this book couldn't be better than that was. Wow was I wrong. This book has an awesome story line, strong characters and is very well written. This book hooked me right away. It was definitely a page turner. I loved how the author made Violet half vampire and half angel. Being abandoned as a baby at 21 she received some major powers. Being half angle and half vamp you can imagine what she is capable of. When her sister disappears she teams up with a sexy, goofy, hot vampire. And omg the harem boy angel who is threatening her sister. WOW This was a great idea by the author to add him into the story. You will see what I am talking about. Can she free her sister ? Can she stay alive ? Can she find love ? Grab this book to answer these questions. You won't be sorry this book was amazing. It was also written by such an awesome author. I highly recommend this book as a must read!!!!!!

So bad it made me angry!

This book was so bad that it actually made me angry so this may be more of a rant than a review.

I don't even know why I kept reading this. Maybe I though to would get better? Violet is not just unlikable, shes downright loathsome. She's cruel, mean, selfish... I could keep going but you get the idea. I really think she might be the least likeable MC I have EVER read.

And the plot. It was basically just let's see how many times the MC can beat the daylights out of someone. She even says herself that she's abusing Rebel but she never stops. And can we talk about her obsession with shanks? Practically ever page has a reference to "shanking" someone.

Ugh, I'm so mad at this stupid book! Skip this one. Seriously there's nothing redeeming about this book.

HERE'S YOUR NEXT FANTASTIC READ!!!
If you're looking for excitement, action, hard hitting, unexpected surprises and a kickass plot. Oh, and lets not forget a little. You've got it right here. The realism of the characters and scenes are so vivid you can't help but sink right in. The storyline flows smoothly as we follow the main characters. Seeing them transform and blend as their personalities shine through. Rosemary isn't a great author for nothing. She shows us a sliver of her insight with such detailed descriptions that brings this read to life. A word of advice though. When you grab your copy, grab a snack, a drink, kick back and relax. You won't be moving once you start on this little gem. Remarkable job Rosemary. Thanks for sharing.

I have never read a book by this author, but I’ve been intrigued to do so for a while. When I was able to get a copy of this book, I was very excited. To top it off, my expectations of a good book were confirmed. This book did take a little bit to draw me in, but draw me in it did. I was thrilled with how well-written the book was, and I loved the uniqueness of the characters. I admit there wasn’t much action as I would have liked, but that didn’t really impact my enjoyment; I didn’t even realize it until I finished the book. I really liked this unusual (to me) book and look forward to more! Highly recommend! I was provided a complimentary copy of the e-book which I reviewed voluntarily.

Left in a cemetery as a baby, "Feathers" fights to keep her sister and friends safe from the "Big Bad": vampires and the Fallen. Little does she know, she was born both vamp and angel! And she refuses to allow either side to own her, after all, she is The Bitch of Utopia and No One Will Own Her! Fast paced, full of action with a great plot and characters! I received a complimentary copy and freely give my honest review.

I loved this book. I could not put it down. Full of suspense and mystery. Violet is a half vampire/half angel who turns into a huntress to find her sister, who was kidnapped by a snarky angel. She receives help from a sexy vampire. I recommend this book to anyone who loves to read vampire books.

Everyone's 21st birthday is special...just not as special as Violet's
Birthday. Every one has a hidden talent or skill but to discover you are half angel, half vampire.. incredible and overwhelming,  the action that ensues will keep you entranced till the end. Oh did i mention that there is romance too... Rosemary Johns, has written another amazing hit in her  Vampire world.

Reading this was exhausting , I struggled to finish it. The book has a good beginning and Violet is a good character. Rebel is an infuriating character, he is suppose to be the savior and the person who kind of reveal Violet's true self and helps her understand who she really is. But he behaves like a child and his relationship with his adopted family just makes me angry.
The overall story had little continuity , scenes and new characters pop in and out all the time. The romance I was promised never materialised and I wished the sexual attraction between Violet and Ash would have had the opportunity to develop.
Overall the book's plot structure was good, a girl who is half angel /half vampire story of self realization. I think the author become over zealous ,put too much in the areas that didn't matter.
I received this book from ebook discovery. I voluntarily review this book. This is my honest review.

Oh wow, when I started reading this book the author was new to me, and I can't tell you how much I loved reading her book because it had a lot of action that kept me glued to my kindle reading Violets story. Especially since I needed to know what was going to happen next with Zack and Ash and who would win the battle between angles and vampires! And I know this story will stay with me until I find out what is going to happen to Violet once she meets her mother and also will there be more bloodshed inflicted on Violets fam! Thank you so much Mrs. Johns for letting me read your awesome book, I truly can't wait to read any other books that you have out because I see now what I have missed reading your great books!

Just shy of a 4 star
This was a bit of a different direction for Rosemary A Johns and I really liked the idea of the story as well a lot of the elements of it, I did find there were times were I felt there may have been a bit too much detail or inconsequential information but it did not detract from the over all book. Once we got more into what was happening around town knowing there were a lot of things out there that go bump in the night as well other societies that are fighting one another and seeing themselves as the saviors it gets really interesting! There are some great characters that you will love as well as others you will hate, while others that you never know which side they are really on. When the 2 main families come together boy oh boy do people show their real colors!!

This is a unique take on the vampire origin story and interestingly involves angels. It had me hooked even though I got lost a few times and had to go re read a few pages to make sure I hadn't missed any important details. I finished it in a few hours. The cast of characters is fun, quirky, and badass. I am really looking forward to reading the next part.

I loved reading Vampire Huntress... the book is a page turner lots of action, vampires, angels and a monster..
The monster is 1/2 Vampire and 1/2 Angel and her name is Violet and she has some wicked powers.
Rebel (a.k.a. as Zacherial ) is a fallen angel with his own special powers and a cool sword...
If you want to know more about Violet and Rebel please read it for yourself... I can't wait to read book 2... Vampire Princess

I personally LOVE indie writers and pride myself in the fact that most of my favorite authors have started out in the indie genre whom have later built themselves a book series that ends on Best Seller’s lists. I have no doubt that Rosemary A. Johns is on her way to become just that. The book is centered in London. What I was not expecting is the British Slang which, I have to admit took some getting used to, however, I found it refreshing. It was like being submerged into a new culture that I am unaccustomed to. Honestly, I was hooked, line and sinker. This is a book that I wasn’t sure I would like but then I turned the first page, then the next and then the following. From there I could not put the book down. I finished it within 24 hours and my only regret is that I did not wait to savor it. The ending came way too soon and not due to the book being short. I cannot wait to read more of Rosemary’s book, super excited!

Oh what a wonderful read!!! Rosemary Johns introduces us to Violet, half vampire/half angel. Violet does not have the most stable of backgrounds and things seem to go from bad to worse. However, she teams up with a unique, fun, and hilarious vampire in order to save her half-sister. This book is a roller coaster of laughs and fun right from the start as Violet talks with her inner voice, J. Add in a harem angel and you are set. This book has you turning the pages to find out what Violet does next.

Violet is discovering she is an angel/vampire. She was abandoned as a baby and knew nothing about her past or parents until she started finding out powers she didn't know she had after turning 21. She meets an angel and her world is turned upside down from then on out. She finds out she is a Huntress of vampires as the angel begins training her. She is a serious kick butt heroine and a rebel too boot. I really enjoyed this story as it flows so smoothly. I look forward to more about Violet in future books as she discovers her place in the world.

Gutted
I had to read this in small increments, there was too much power in Johns' words.
My heart wept for Rebel in his eternal search for family. I wept for Feathers, toyed and played with, without a clue as to her true self.
The angel's glory lept off the page. You could feel it, deep down inside, where all the good feelings reside.
Beautifully written, we learn what exactly Feathers is, the cost it takes her to figure it out, and find her place in the world. Johns has created such a beautiful world that draws you in, making you experience the ups and downs, the hurt, pain, and joy that her characters are going through. Vampire Huntress is beautifully done, a must read.
