The central theme in Tuesdays with Morrie is the way in which accepting one's own death can help one to understand what really matters in life and to live more meaningfully.

 • On culture : “The culture we have does not make people feel good about themselves. And you have to be strong enough to say if it doesn’t work, don’t buy it”

 • On envy : “Do the kinds of things that come from the heart. When you do, you won’t be dissatisfied, you won’t be envious, you won’t be longing for somebody else’s things. On the contrary, you’ll be overwhelmed with what comes back”

 • On living a meaningful life : “Devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community around you and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning”

 • On kindness : “In light of this, my visits with Morrie felt like a cleansing rinse of human kindness”

 • On dying: " Learn how to die and you learn how to live”

 • On forgiveness: "It’s not just other people we need to forgive…We also need to forgive ourselves…for all the things we didn’t do. All the things we should have done. You can’t get stuck on the regrets of what should have happened”

 • On love : “Love is when you are as concerned about someone else’s situation as you are about your own”

 • On the most important thing : “The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love and how to let it come in”

"...Умирать — грустно, Митч, спору нет, — вдруг заговорил Морри. — Но жить несчастливо — это уже нечто иное. Среди людей, что приходят навестить меня, так много несчастных. Каждый знает, что умрет, — повторил: Морри. — Но никто не верит. Потому что если б мы верили, то жили бы по-другому."

История Морри трогательная и пронзительная. Я много чего подчеркнула. В книге много прекрасных цитат, которые переворачивают сознание.

"Forgive yourself before you die. Then forgive others."
Tuesdays with Morrie, a story of realization written by Mitch Albom, based on a series of Tuesday meetings he had with his professor Morrie Schwartz to crack a commonly known but a bewildering reality, called death.
The purpose of the book is to tell readers that how much baffled we people really are when it comes to explaining the concept of death, which according to our society and ourselves is nothing else other than a source of frisson, derision, and despondence.
But through this story, the writer reveals and tells readers that there are people around us like Morrie, for whom death isn't the name of a delirium or a fear, which can cause them to lose their family and friends, and to break up all of their connections, rather for them it is a chance of reunion, to understand how much worthy and meaningful life really is, it is a chance to understand that being dependent on someone else for your day to day chores isn't a shame at all rather it is to feel the pleasure of Anastasia, and it also tells reader how much to bless and great it is to be a commoner!

This book is about teaching how we live meaningful, teach us to listen people, share love, care about everyone. If you know that you're going to be die, you'll know how to live. The money is important, but if no money, what do you have? Do you have friends? When you die, how many people miss you for a long time? I love this book. It brings positive thinking to me.

best book i ever read. it was so inspirational definitely learned a lot from morrie and a great book.
This book is a great example on how to accept death. We humans don't see ourselves as a part of nature that's why we can't accept death. everything that's born has to die and its the beauty of it.
we should love each other and forgive.
it has a great line- to love each other or perish.

An absolute must read! I read this in highschool and wanted to re read. It is about a man who is passing away and has “class” at his house every Tuesday. During those classes he talks about love, forgiveness and how to live while confronting death. Couldn’t recommend more but definitely a tear jerker!
