This is Sofia’s big break. The reality TV design job will cement her talent as the Valenti Brothers’ star designer, and no man—with or without killer dimples—is going to stand in her way.
She couldn’t have scripted it better herself.
Sofia Valenti’s father has signed up his construction firm to be on Million-Dollar Start Home, a reality show that will bring the family more business and determine who will be his successor. Sofia can kill two birds with one stone: showcase her design skills in front of the world and solidify her pitch to take over from her dad…
…if she can out-maneuver Adrian Villanueva, the Valenti Brothers’ delicious but stubborn head contractor.
Champagne taste, meet beer budget. Sofia’s dreams have a high price tag, and her nemesis is definitely more of the “function over form” type of guy.
Adrian is also in the running to take charge of the firm he’s worked with his entire career. This project is his best shot… provided he can stop fantasizing over Sofia’s luscious curves long enough to concentrate.
Work together? Compromise?
Not a chance in hell.
Not on live TV, where winner takes all and the director wants "sparks".
And not in real life, where losing has big consequences.
Their on-screen chemistry is just a warm-up for the real battle behind the scenes—and in the bedroom.
But even the best-laid plans can’t keep them from falling in love…
OPENED UP is a sexy rivals-to-lovers romance featuring a plus-sized heroine, gray sweatpants, intense on-set chemistry, and lots of tall, dark, and handsome ready to deliver enchiladas and a happily ever after.
As a young woman, Eva Moore loved nothing more than to dive between the pages of a romance and lose herself in the story. They were perfect for avoiding midterms and report cards. She even met her husband while reading a book. About the time the second baby came along though, she found she had little time for diving into anything but laundry. Missing her stories desperately, she began to make up her own. The stories she played with in her mind while she washed dishes and changed diapers eventually made their way onto the page, and she was hooked. Eva now lives in Silicon Valley, after moving around the world and back, with her college sweetheart, her three gorgeous girls, and two Shih Tzus who think they are cats. She can be found most nights hiding in her closet/office, scribbling away, and loves to hear from the outside world.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
There was a lot I liked about this book. The setting of the home improvement show was fun, and I always enjoy quirky families as part of the plot. The heroine was relatable and the hero, while being a bit dense at times (aren’t they all, lol!), managed to be sexy while initiating conversations about consent that felt natural instead of forced. So that’s good, I’ve been curious to see what romance novelists would do with #metoo, and here the author made it work quite well. Ms. Moore’s writing style kept me reading on, when lately many books seemed like a drag. I liked the writing despite a few awkward metaphors (the hero thinking of the heroine as “built like a f*cking brick house” and being incredibly turned on by her at the same time made me burst out laughing).
Admittedly, I was left with a few questions regarding some of the conflict that was introduced. The show producer was built up as an antagonist, and then nothing really happened, so I’m wondering if the next book in the series is going to pick up here. The conflict with the father was concluded rather than resolved and the parents’ story arc remained unfinished, so again I’m wondering if the next few books will see some development in these plot elements.
I’m always rooting for a plus-sized heroine, but wasn’t entirely happy with the role her weight-issues played. The way her weight-related insecurities held her back made her seem like a victim and when she finally worked through them, it felt more like resignation than empowerment. Also, a woman who’s too embarrassed by her body for her lover to see her in the nude isn’t very likely to be on a TV show without any qualms, no?
The conflict between hero and heroine was mostly internal and could have used a little more focus, but the romance was hot and I liked the build-up of sexual tension. I really liked the scenes of him interacting with his mother and if I ever have children, I will definitely tell them that their kisses are keeping the wrinkles away...
*spoiler ahead* I’m not entirely sure what to make of the “magic cure” for the mother’s anxiety. I love that the author wanted to include mental illness in the story and it definitely adds depth, but the minimal arc makes it seem like someone suffering from an anxiety disorder only needs a big enough incentive to overcome their fears. I felt a bit uneasy reading this part and think a more fleshed out story arc would have done both the book and those suffering from mental illness a greater service.
Despite the points I’ve mentioned I enjoyed the book and will likely read the next in the series. It wasn't consistently 4 stars, but I felt well entertained reading it, and that's what matters after all, so 4 stars it is. :)
I've never read anything by Eva Moore before. I went into this book with a completely open mind. And I was pleasantly surprised! I really loved this book!
The two major reasons why I loved it is, 1) the heroine is plus size (like me) and dealing with body issues and insecurity. All the same things I deal with on a day to day basis. And 2) the setting of this story is a family construction business. My dad is a carpenter and project manager of a construction company. I grew up helping him build things. I've never read a romance so accurate when it came to building and the intricacies of the business!
I loved the family setting. I'm really looking forward to reading about the rest of the brothers and the cousin. Having the reality show added onto the backdrop of the construction company was really interesting! It brought a whole new level to the story.
The romance itself, and the two lead characters, were great. Usually I have a hard time with the enemies-to-lovers trope. I don't enjoy reading about two people who snipe at each other for the first half of the book. But something about the way their relationship was written, totally worked for me!
I loved Sofia. I felt her. I felt every one of her insecurities. I felt her stress. I felt all her desire for Adrian. I felt her desire for her own place in the company and her need to be respected and valued. Every time she got upset and yelled or argued with her dad or brothers or Adrian, I felt her behavior was completely valid! I don't want to spoil her complete journey, so I'll just say that I loved how she comes into her own and makes a choice for her own life, regardless of her family's needs and Adrian.
Adrian was a good hero. Hot as hell. He's practically been in love with Sofia from the first time he met her when they were teens. He sees her for the strong, beautiful woman she is, and loves all her curves. He could care less about "the extra pounds." If anything, he's into her even more because of them! I also loved how every time he was confronted by Sofia, he didn't become a prideful jerk. He was willing to admit when he was wrong. It did take him a bit longer than I would have liked to resolve the big conflict with her in the end, but the ending was wonderful!
There is some language in this book, a few F bombs among them, but there wasn't an excessive amount of them that it detracted from the story. There is one intense heavy petting scene and one detailed sex scene. A couple of make out scenes. A few descriptions of intimate acts but not overly detailed.
This book was great! I eagerly await more books about the Valenti family!
Eva Moore does it again! Sofia and Adrian have been working together for years, but can it be more? Both have insecurities to overcome and they have to learn to communicate and to trust. I love the two families, the chaos and pitfalls of a family business, even the HGTV-style home renovation show (better watch this or they'll steal your show, Eva!). And we're not talking a one night stand, boom, they are in love. Moore takes us through the ups and downs and how love grows. Some steamy heat here that fits and is not gratuitous. Moore accurately reflects a multicultural community, in both her main characters and the families whose homes they renovate. She deftly and thoughtfully weaves into the main story, themes and snapshots about immigration, of first generation Americans, of the impact when families are broken apart, of how communities work together and support each other. It's part of the fabric of America, endemic to this area of California and perfectly represented in this story. I really can't say enough about this book, I highly recommend it!
I received an ARC of this book. It is book 1 of the Exposed Dream Series, but could easily be read as a stand alone. Very good read! DIY show lovers will enjoy the behind the scenes info and romance lovers will enjoy the slow burn and sparks between Sofia and Adrian. Very sweet and poignant moments make the characters jump off the page and envelope you in their world.
I'd already heard quite a lot of buzz around this new novel by Eva Moore, and it didn't disappoint. I just loved Sofia, and she was so easily relatable: a young woman who chooses to eat her emotions (she is suffering from profound grief due to the loss of her older brother, a soldier) and who puts off her own dreams. She is an only daughter and feels a tremendous sense of responsibility to support her family after her brother's death and her mother's choice to leave the family construction business and to live her life, doing all the many things she's missed. Sofia's trying to balance so many plates, it's no wonder that she's turned to food. The reader notices very quickly that Sofia really doesn't have a support system at all, even though her family loves her tremendously, they don't "get" her.
Our hero, Adrian (yo! Adrian), decides he's going to be that support system for her when he becomes the head contractor and Sofia the head designer for her family's company, Valenti Bros. Construction, for a new pilot tv show, Million Dollar Starter Home (what a great idea for this novel, and so timely--with the Bay Area, CA, setting, starter homes really are selling for a million dollars, and one of my greatest pleasures is House Hunters Renovation), the two are thrown together regularly, with sparks so sizziling, even the reality show producers notice. Adrian makes Sofia feel confident and sexy, and most importantly, he respects (even if he doesn't like) her boundaries. This book is all about CONSENT, baby! And consent in this case is some sexy stuff.
I wish that a book like this had been around when I was a younger woman and struggling with similar body and confidence issues. Sofia is a great heroine, Adrian is a loving, sexy, and supportive hero, and I wouldn't hesitate recommending this novel to anyone in search of a book about healthy, loving relationships. The couple does have their bumps, but they believably push through for our required HEA.
Did I mention the fantastic cast of supporting, diverse characters? Adrian's sweet agoraphobic mother, trapped in her house after the tragic and heinous deportation of her husband, the owners of the rehab home, an Indian couple imminently expecting their first child, and Sofia's large and dysfunctional family. I can't wait to read more about them in the subsequent novels.

***I received an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
I discovered Eva Moore last year through a book club and read one her Girls’ Night Out stories. It was a nice read but not the most original. This one is better and probably the book that will put Eva Moore in the list of authors I follow closely. Opened Up is the first installment in her new series ‘Exposed Dreams’ and as such it is a perfect stand alone. The Story is about Sofia Valenti and Adrian Villanueva. Sofia joined the family business, Valenti Brothers Constructions after the death of her older brother Gabe in Afghanistan. While she handles all the administrative work for the company, she dreams about interior design and eat too many candy bars. Adrian has worked Valenti Brothers Constructions for the past twelve years and wants nothing more than a chance to buy into the company he has helped built. But Sofia’s father doesn’t want to retire and surprises everyone when he signs up the company to do a home renovation TV show. While Sofia sees it as a chance to be taken seriously as a designer, it also becomes clear that it creates lots of tension with Adrian. The pair comes head to head while attraction sizzles. The story and its background was really unique: i loved the construction business and TV reality show. I really enjoy to see Sofia struggles with her feelings in general (dealing with the tragic loss of her brother, her own career’s aspirations and of course her body) She of course also struggled with Adrian. For his part, Adrian is very driven and attached to his family having taken responsibility for his mother and his sisters after his father deportation. Both have had quite some emotional baggage. They must decide if they trust each other and if they can respect each other professionally and personally to build a future together. With the large cast of characters, Eva Moore had already planted the background for more stories to come. So maybe not just a 5* yet, but a solid 4 ½* contemporary original romance with flawed characters totally deserving of their own chance at a HEA.
Really loved this book! The characters had me cheering them on and wanting them to fight for their love! They've known each other for years and had secret crushes on the other. Finally things shift and the desire starts to flare. It was a slow burn, which is what I love in a romance novel! Heading to the second book now!!
There’s a lot to unpack. First, I like the fact that the characters are deeply rooted in reality, that you can easily identify a friend, a family member, even yourself in place of Sofia, Adrian, Dom, Jo, the Shahs, etcetera. Eva has infused her characters with their unique sets of talents and insecurities in a way that is relatable to the readers. She has always been able to that with her books. Her heroines are often women who are besieged by self-doubt, even as they strive to gather strength to overcome them on their own. Sofia is one such heroine with her issues about her body image and her desire to have more control over her position in the family business. Adrian as the hero is a good foil for Sofia. He is consistently on her side even as he has his own ambitions he wanted fulfilled. He is a great son, a supportive boss, and a considerate lover. What I like is that he is not without fault. His machismo sometimes comes out to play to the frustration of Sofia as she gets that from her father already. I like the main characters in this book. I also like the inclusion of diverse supporting characters. My heart goes out to Adrian’s mom and her fears. I’m glad that was resolved in the end. On the other hand, I am not enamored of Sofia’s parents. Maybe they will be redeemed in the upcoming books, but right now, I am not simpatico with Dom and Jo. Lastly, the “reality show” backdrop is fantastic and all the construction discussions and terminologies are fascinating. I don’t know anything about home renovation, I don’t watch it, but Eva made it easy to keep up with the narrative. A good read, Opened Up deserves its place in your TBR.
1.75 stars. Usually I give 2 stars for finishing a book without too many grammatical errors. But...Why did I force myself to finish this book? I really don’t think I can remember a character I so thoroughly disliked. Self-centered, manipulative, and a bald faced liar sometimes. And she was the heroine. Unlikeable characters, dropped storylines, half way tackling subjects in a way that does not leave you with any empathy or understanding (it was actually way less than half-way), made this one a hot mess for me. Consent was dropped into conversation while the heroine was being manipulative, empathy for immigrants was dropped in the storyline with nowhere to go. Is there an affair? I hoped I could like someone in this novel and ended up disliking everybody.
Pretty sure this is the end of the road for me in this series.
Sofia Valenti works for her family's business, Valenti Brothers Construction. And even though her dreams are to design homes using her interior designing skills, she is stuck in the office running payroll, entering invoices for shipping/receiving, billing, accounts receivable, etc... she is a one woman show for a multiple person job. Her dreams seem to slip further and further from her grasp as more jobs fall on her desk everyday sending Sofia's agitation higher. It doesn't help when Adrian Villanueva stops in and continually refers to her as beautiful or gorgeous. She is anything but. Since taking on more responsibility at work, she's put on a few well placed pounds and feels anything but beautiful. She doesn't need Adrian rubbing in just how untrue the statement really is.
Adrian Villanueva has been working at Valenti Brothers Construction since he was a young man. Taking care of his family since his father was deported has been his top priority, but now that his youngest sister is almost finished with her schooling Adrian can finally focus on himself for the first time. He's always found Sofia a beautiful woman, even when she was just a teenage girl, but now that she's blossomed into a woman he can barely keep his eyes off her. Problem. She's the bosses daughter. What can he offer her? He needs to prove himself first then perhaps she will finally look his way.
When Adrian and Sofia are put together to work on a big project for the company their attraction blossoms, but they both know what is on the line if the project fails. Can they keep their growing attraction under wraps until they both have a chance to prove themselves?
I love watching HGTV. The transformation that happens on screen, along with any drama the show can drum up is always fascinating, so I was fascinated to read Opened Up. In the beginning the chemistry between Adrian and Sofia fell flat multiple times, which pulled me out of the story. Also since fiction should take me away from reality, unfortunately when it came to Sofia, I've worked in a company where I was undervalued. You will quickly find out that not only is Sofia worked to the bone, no one listens to her or wants her opinion, yet they all want to use her for their own gains. Basically the Dirty Dancing mentality of "let's keep Baby in the corner".
Adrian is her hero and pulls her out of that proverbial corner and makes sure Sofia understands that she is sexy even though she has packed on a few pounds. He loves that she has a brilliant mind and they make a good team. If only we all had an "Adrian" in our everyday work situations to come rescue us from insufferable bosses.
Opened Up is my first Eva Moore book, and it was an experience that I really enjoyed! Her talented writing style shined through this entertaining read, and I was transported into her world easily. I really enjoy Home Improvement shows, but when they involve entertaining families, like the old show, Home Improvement, well, sign me up, so I found myself laughing quite a bit throughout this story, because the entertaining cast of secondaries added a lot of humor to the mix. Yeah, I usually don't start out with the supporting cast, but I really couldn't help myself. The heroine, Sofia, was my girl, and I really loved her, although at times, I wanted her to be stronger about some of her weight issues. While the hero, Adrian, really pissed me off to be honest. I know some of his descriptions of people weren't meant to be rude, (trying to generalize so that I don't provide spoiler douchery) but it turned me off, so it made it really hard for him to grow on me after that to be honest. (Remember this is only MY OPINION, and whether it's right or wrong, also MY FEELINGS). On top of what I already mentioned, there's drama, f-bomb worthy twists, a slow burning build up to sexy times, and angst, with a side of sweet moments of family. Obviously, I was transported into Ms. Moore's world, or I wouldn't have been so full of emotions, so I'm definitely going to be reading more of her in the future, and HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Opened Up is the first book in Eva Moore’s new Exposed Dreams series. It works well as a stand alone, yet leaves us little hints on possible future romances. There are also a couple of background conflicts associated with the TV show and family, that I look forward seeing resolved in books to come. A few characters from previous books in her Girl’s Night series are mentioned, but you don’t need to read them prior to Opened Up.
Opened Up is a seriously cute read with some sexy construction on the side. Sofia's dream to be a designer got put on hold after she loses her brother. With a domineering father and a family construction business it seems she will never see her dreams. Adrian has worked his entire life for others. His mom. His sisters. Now he wants a piece of the pie with the Valenti Bros construction company, he also wouldn't mind having Sofia as well.
Sofia is a love/hate character. You love that she's full of fire, yet you hate the constant self doubt that she struggles with. So much so that she can't take a single compliment, she feels men are messing with her when they simply call her "beautiful". Adrian is sweet and focused on his dreams, almost too focused to the detriment of his happiness. Both fall into a an uneasy relationship that soon changes to love. Both are too stubborn when problems arise to talk it out. We get plenty of steam, sweetness, and angst.
I enjoyed this story but did feel like the flow was slow due to the small details. It was overly descriptive in an unnecessary way. The romance had some sweet and saucy moments as well as some angst. Overall, Opened Up is great read.
I just found a new favorite author. Opened Up took the “reality” of an HGTV type show and made it sexy. I can’t wait to read the rest of the stories in this series.
I received an advanced copy of this book for a fair review. This is my first Eva Moore book and I loved it. As a big Fixer Upper fan, I loved the world that this book takes place in. Moore clearly did her home work as it related to construction and all these home improvement shows that are constantly on my tv at home. Also, Moore's writing grabbed me from the beginning. It was a quick read and I loved the dynamic between the hero and heroine. I definitely recommend this read and look forward to the next book in the series.
Eva Moore’s latest romance will not disappoint. As the first book in a new series, it has sizzle, and sweat, and a little bit of sweet. Strong characters, witty dialogue, and just enough conflict. I can’t wait for the next one!
*Re-read in anticipation of the final book of the series, it was even better on second read.
Opened Up, the first in Eva Moore's Exposed Dreams series, is an excellent, at times heartbreaking story.
Sofia Valenti and Adrian Villanueva both work for Valenti Brothers Construction. Her father, Dom, runs the business, but Sofia is far from a pampered princess. While she'd love to pursue her dream of designing gorgeous homes for her family to build, her days are filled to overflowing with the drudgery of office work and relentlessly chasing down all the details that keep a construction company running smoothly.
Adrian is not one of the family, but he's worked for Valenti Brothers for so long, Dom feels like a second dad. He'd love to buy into the business, but Dom seems reluctant to make any decisions that might change the status quo. And Adrian's longstanding crush on Sofia is getting harder and harder to ignore, especially when it seems that that attraction might be reciprocated.
Opened Up is a good read, but not always an easy one. Ms Moore writes characters that feel very real, and their conversations can be painful at times because that fight with one's parent or that uncomfortable dodge with someone you care about? Those ARE hard and not the least bit fun.
But Opened Up is not just about the tough times. Ms Moore also makes us privy to Sofia and Adrian's growing relationship, and their growing out of old roles and more fully into the selves they want to be. Opened Up is a deeply satisfying read because ultimately Sofia and Adrian do take action and take responsibility, and it's a pleasure to witness how they come to resolve their differences.
Also, fans of reality TV (especially of the HGTV variety) will definitely enjoy the extra backdrop as the family scrambles to film a pilot for a potential series.
This is the first book of this series and can be read as a standalone. There are many characters and personalities in this story and author does a good job of keeping them from getting lost. This story introduces us to the Valenti family via Sofia and Adrian.
Sofia Valenti is the eldest and only daughter in the family. She wasn’t supposed to be in the position she is, but the loss of her eldest sibling changed everything. Now she has put her dream of designing on hold to help keep the family construction business going.
Adrian loves his job with Valenti construction and he loves his family even more. He has been the breadwinner for years. Taking care of his Mom and sisters after his father was deported and then passed away. He has poured his heart and soul into this business and is hoping for a chance to prove his deserves a bigger stake in the company.
These two have known each other for years and have secretly crushed on each other. Sofia has self confidence issues and Adrian has been afraid to pursue her because of who she is. Now they are working closer together than ever and their true feelings start to come out.
There is an interesting storyline with a behind the scenes look at what at reality show can look like. The family dynamics are strong in this story as well as the sexual tension between these two. You get to know each family member from both main characters, except for Adrian’s sisters. This was an enjoyable read overall with a good ending. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Have you ever started a book with the idea that you are going to read a few chapters and then put it down to pick up again later in the week when you have more time and then oops... you read the whole book?? Yeah, Opened Up is that kind of book.
In romance, is it often that you instantly fall for the hero and that is what keeps you reading. But this time, it is Sofia Valenti that you have fallen head over heels in love with less than half way through the first chapter as she reaches into her emergency chocolate drawer, for that first Almond Joy. Sofia is the every girl. Eva captured the thoughts of every late 20 something women who is trying to figure it out and claw her place in the world and put it on the page in the character of Sofia and you can't help but love her, because some secret part of you is in her.
Eva didn't forget about Opened Up's hero in her development of her heroine. Adrian Villanueva is just as rich and complex of a character as Sofia, and hella hot to boot. The construction worker/son of a deported immigrant and the daughter of the owner of the construction company/designer/office manager have insane chemistry that has been left to slow burn over the 12 years that they have known one another and the company's new reality tv show just brings it up to a boiling point that cannot be ignored.
If you love HGTV, reality home improvement shows, family drama, and hot romance this one is a steamy 4 star burner.
Opened Up by Eva Moore is the first book in the Exposed Dreams series! It is the first book I’ve read from this author and it definitely won’t be my last. I was captivated from the first page and it held my attention throughout the entire book. Sofia and Adrian’s journey is filled with twists and turns, family, and love.
Sofia needs to get out from under her fathers thumb. With working for the family business, she never thought she’d be at the lowest level. She has worked years being an assistant and is the one that everyone runs to. But her heart isn’t in it and she has dreams and goals she wants to accomplish. Adrian has worked for Valenti Construction since he was a teenager. His goal is to become part owner. Adrian has always had a crush on Sofia. But being the bosses daughter has always made her unreachable. When Adrian gets put on a job with her sparks fly and tempers flare. Will they be able to get what they both want and need?
This book was well written, it flowed well, and the characters were fantastic! It was a great read and entertaining story. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series!
I enjoyed this book, the first in the Exposed Dreams series. Basing a series on the hottest programs on cable was genius.
Sofia Valenti feels her design talents are wasted as she does office work for her family's construction company. No one takes her seriously, but she knows she is up to the task.
Adrian Villanueva has been working for Valenti Brothers Construction for years. As the patriarch of the family, Dom Valenti is thinking of retiring, Adrian feels like this is is opportunity to show the family what he can do, since he's been with them from the beginning.
Reality TV comes calling and Dom takes them up on their offer. Sofia wants to stretch her wings and do the designing. Adrian doesn't want his opportunity to show Dom and the producers what he can do foiled by Sofia. Long ago crushes on Sofia by Adrian, and on Adrian by Sofia, doesn't help.
Will the show be successful? Will Adrian and Sofia be able to put their issues aside and meet in the middle? Will they both get the accolades they deserve? I'm counting on a resolution of Dom and Jo's issues. They need each other!
I loved Opened Up! From the very first chapter I was hooked. Equal parts sweet and sexy, I would've read it in one sitting if my life hadn't been in the way. It is that good!
I'm a sucker for family members each finding HEAs while keeping me laughing along the way and the Valenti family did not disappoint. They are wonderful in their own big crazy imperfect way. I found myself wanting a seat at family dinner for some red sauce and good wine even on the bad days.
As a fan of all things HGTV it was fun to read about the things that can go wrong or right when TV, home renovation and family all meet.
I was really able to relate to the inner turmoil of Sofia and cheer her on as she worked out her issues. Adrian is exactly the strong confidence builder she needs and as an added bonus he's just dripping sexy everywhere he goes. Once they figured out they were on the same side nothing could stop them!
Sofia Valenti dreams of a life spent designing beautiful homes for the family business. Adrian Villanueva has spent his life on the outside looking in. When hidden attraction flares into open desire, they must decide if a chance at love is worth giving up on a lifetime of dreams.
A novel that captivated me. The love scenes and the chemistry were very well constructed! However, I didn’t feel consistency in the book. Both characters are good, but very confusing, I felt that their development was abrupt and intense. Meanwhile, the other characters were overshadowed, you wanted to know more about them, but I found it very difficult to follow their stories. The book brings many problems, but, I did not feel that any of them was treated in the best way and I’m still waiting for answers.
I was honestly impressed with this book. The characters were likeable and the characters tragic past was written pretty well and didn't seem like it was just thrown in there to make the main character dramatic. I will say this book definitely lacks in steamy-ness. We get like 1.5 sex scenes not even including one in the happily ever after. If that doesn't bother you than this book might be five stars for you. I was also annoyed as a plus sized person myself that the main character was SO self conscious about her body. She was so strong otherwise and we all feel a little self conscious at times but it seemed a little cheap to make the fat lady upset about her body.
Overall a good book that has its typical corny moments and misunderstandings but is definitely one of the better ones I've read.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I am ashamed to admit this is the first book of Eva's that I've read - even though I have several others in my large TBR pile. It was a great place to start, and now I cannot wait to check out the rest! Eva's characters are real, meaning they are regular folks with regular folk problems - rather than your typical millionaire beautiful person trope. The plot was fresh - a family-owned construction company shooting the pilot for a home-improvement show - and provided the perfect set up for Adrian & Sofia's story. Their snappy dialogue added fuel to the fire of their incredible tension, culminating in what I have to say was the 'sweetest' proposal ever.
All around a great read, and hopefully the beginning of a favorite series.
This is my first book by Eva Moore and the first in her new Exposed Dreams series. Sofia Valenti just wants to design beautiful houses for her family business but all she does is paperwork for Valenti brothers construction. But when her father Dom signs up the whole family for reality show she finally see her chance to start living her dream of being an interior designer but when the head contractor shots her down she isn't happy. Adrian Villanveva is happy once Dom starts talking retirement. He see his chance to finally but into the business he helped build. So there is no way he's letting Sofia expensive taste ruin his dream. Even if he had a crush on her years ago he is over it now even if the curvy goddess is more beautiful now. Can these do give up a little of there drama for love.
This is a wonderful tale. The characters are people, real people with flaws and hang ups just like your friends not jet setting movie stars or billionaires or royals. That's what makes Eva's novels so enjoyable, the idea that this amazing romance could happen in your own life or to your best friend. Eva Moore has the amazing ability to look at an ordinary life and see incredible love stories! Let Eva share this one with you and you won't be disappointed. She nails the renovation industry as well as the insanity of reality TV design shows perfectly. She understands the complications family drama creates in everyone's life and she has the uncanny knack of putting it into the perfect words to tell a great story!
This is a new author to me, and my word, what an introduction this is! Sofia is a curvy female, who is dealing with body issues, as well as insecurities, and eats when she is emotional; all which I can relate to! Adrian has loved Sofia since they were in their teens, and sees her as the strong and beautiful women that she is. Can these two move from enemies / lovers? No spoilers; this is one of those stories which is a must read page turner. This is a well written story, which flows seamlessly, and I was intrigued and captivated throughout. I cannot wait to read more of this authors’ work, and will certainly be adding her to my favourites and 1-click lists.
