Welcome to Visaria Online, a place where mighty empires clash and player ridden dragons rule the skies.

Join the noble Paladin Ajax and his two companions. One a goth chick turned Demon Mage, the other a voluptuous succubus with whips and a tail, as they journey through the world of Visaria Online, gaining levels, abilities and phat loot.

The real world is a frozen wasteland. Humanity is exiled to Visaria Online, living under the game’s rules and the dreaded specter of its now-defunct pay to win cash shop. Conscripted into the war between the two Visarian factions, Ajax and his companions must survive the brutal player versus player battles and grow in power and prestige.

But as the two factions of the game launch massive simultaneous invasions of one another’s lands, a new threat looms on the horizon that threatens to destroy the exiled home of humanity.

Warning: contains half elves, violence, gore, numbers, hot goth chicks, a twenty foot tall angry woman (also hot), a goblin XP grind treadmill, gratuitous kissing and groping, an old dragon with an addiction to pickled olives, a kinky succubus who just won’t leave the main guy alone and a broken pineapple that may or may not be vendor trash.

Mercifully short

While the spelling and grammar are good, I felt like I was reading a book meant for young girls. Dialog and motivations are very immature and of course the MC is an extremely stupid male.

I stopped reading at 40%.

Overall I enjoyed the story and will be reading the next one.

Cons:
It was a bit too heavy on character stats for my liking. I know others enjoy this aspect of LitRPG but I prefer to see the skills described in battle. Does the character have to hand wave or how do they activate the skill? It just happens in this story and a stat is changed. There are no flourishes, hand motions, rippling colors, or other description to go with the skill. The guy is wounded, he casts Heal and gains x health. Meh.

There is the linear chosen one thing. Yeah, no gamers I know enjoy linear questing which is why I kind of expected our hero to deviate since he even makes a point that he hates linear quests, but the plot acts on him so far. Many of the quests he gets say you have to do this or be executed so there's no real choice given. I'd prefer him to have more of a say in things. Granted, the plan goes awry, but still, he should have more agency as another reviewer put it.

There was also an aspect of the female protagonist that came out of nowhere and then didn't pop up when I thought it should. (Keeping it vague to avoid spoilers.) The characters didn't really develop much emotionally as the emphasis was mainly on stats and leveling up.

Finally, the three deaths and you're out thing was never explained, nor was the memory wipe. Why?

Pros:
The story is fun and lighthearted. I like the humor between the characters and the pages fly by with enough action and conflict to keep my interest. There are some unexpected twists, though some stuff was predictable. So pretty much an eat your popcorn fun romp movie type experience. The romance is kept light and the succubus adds to the fun.

I really like the threat hanging over the world and want to know more about what happened to the humans and how this threat came to be. There are hints, but I'm assuming more is revealed in book 2. I like the idea of a dystopian setting with a virtual world to hide away in that gives humanity some hope for their future. Interesting twist.

This is a Fantastic must-read LitRPG book!
The main character, Ajax, gets way more than he bargains for when a cool Demon Mage and frisky Succubus join him as he travels this well-developed and interesting virtual world. There’s lots of adventure, intense action, and some comedic flair to keep you entertained and wanting more.
