Carrie was heartbroken when her first love Joshua suddenly left town with no explanation two years ago, when they were literally about to move in together. She heard on the grapevine that he had moved to New York to become a chef. Now, he's back in town. A lot has changed in Carrie's life, she is strong and independent, has her animal sanctuary and works hard at the local restaurant to top up her income - the sanctuary isn't quite self sufficient yet.

Josh's father is trouble, and he has warned her to keep away from him, as he puts it, Josh is "a chip off the old block", trying to make out that the Josh she knew is now more like his dad, which Carrie can't believe.

Josh seriously wants to make amends. It almost kills him to see Carrie with another man. His feelings towards her have not changed, though perhaps they are now stronger than ever.

Will Carrie ever forgive Josh? Will whoever it, is manage to keep them apart, and why? A good few twists to the story, a mystery and danger all rolled into one. Great story in the Pride Origan series. Can b read as standalone, but better if you have read the previous Pride series and the others in this one so that you know all the back characters.

My Kind Of Love is book two in the "Pride, Oregon" series. This is a contemporary / 2nd change romance series with very little spice but sprinkled in with some.. suspense I suppose?

I believe I said in this in my review for book one as well, but this is definitely a more "wholesome" series than I'm used to reading. I typically lean towards much more.... dark or taboo reads, but I figured why not cleanse the palette once in awhile while something more ... soft shall we say? haha.
We have our main character Carrie whom has an animal sanctuary and works at a busy restaurant in town. She has grown and established herself since her breakup with our other MC Josh 2 years ago. Josh left her with a lot of unanswered questions during their breakup. He suddenly pops back up in Pride after making a name for himself out of state. They never forgot each other, but will Carrie ever be able to forgive him for the heartache he caused?

There are some ... twists in this as well that you may not see coming.

A second chance love story with a bit of mystery and suspense included. I also like that we still get to hear about all the other Pride residents that we've grown to know and love.

I've enjoyed seeing the town of Pride growing, now with an animal rescue sanctuary, a new pizza place and a soon to open clothing boutique.

Carrie is such a sweetie with a heart of gold who channels her energy and love into all the animals she saves. Josh, her one time love, is back in town after leaving and making a name for himself out in the world. They both have never forgotten each other and their love has never stopped. Their lives will be tested a bit with someone who has set out to destroy them.

A great addition to the Pride and Pride, Oregon series

I really like Pride. I would like to live there. Carrie is finally ready to move on after waiting for Josh for 2 years and then he just shows up at her work. It isn't how he wanted Carrie to see him for the first time, but that's how it happened. Carrie isn't ready to hear Josh's reasons for leaving without a goodbye, but she is still drawn to him. Josh's dad has threatened him and Carrie and there is someone who is damaging Josh's business. As Josh and Carrie become closer again, someone is trying to tear them apart. Will they be able to weather the storms or will they be torn apart?

Still The One!!!

Carrie Brogan and Joshua Williams were in a relationship for five years after a messy break up, he left town while she was left heartbroken. Fast foward two years later, she wasn't waiting around for him anymore. She wanted to moved on and just when she was thinking of taking the next step, her past waltzed back into town.

Joshua "Josh" Williams left Pride to rediscover himself after two years of searching he found his way back home. Seeing the one woman who'd held his heart again was shocking especially seeing her with another man.

Now he was a man on a mission, win back his beloved trust and heart, come what may. Carrie's father, Robert ( SERVING PRIDE ) and everyone in Pride warned Josh to stay away from her but the heart wanted what it wanted....Carrie.

Both Carrie and Josh ran their own businesses, she had an animal rescue shelter while he was starting an Internal Security agency. She tried to avoid him but it was difficult when they lived in a small town like Pride. She wanted to know why he left her and he was finally going to give her the answers to her enquiries.

Josh put all his cards on the table and he was forgiven for his mistakes. Carrie wanted them to take another leap of faith but he reluctantly declined. He will always love her but wasn't going to put her in danger. Even if it meant he would be breaking both of their hearts.

Carrie didn't let him push her away again. She stood her ground and fought for their love. Pride welcomed a few new residents. Someone was attacking Josh's business, when the culprit was discovered; it turned out to be someone they didn't see coming.

The lovebirds got a second chance at happiness, loves how their loved ones were very supportive of them. It was great to catch up with old characters and meeting new ones.

MY KIND OF LOVE is the second book in Jill Sanders' PRIDE, OREGON series. It was heart-wrenching, beautiful and oh so irresistible. This seeies keeps getting better and better with each book. Terrific job by Jil Sanders!

The return to Pride, OR. We're back to that happy place in the small town of Pride where everybody knows everything about everybody or soon will. Joshua left town and Cassie two years ago. He got on the train and didn't look back. Heartbroken Cassie was devastated. Now Joshua is back.....
Jill Sanders Pride series is the quintessential small-town series. I love all of her characters. She makes them feel like your best friends. Makes me want to go live in Pride. There is always the element of surprise, suspense or something that holds your interest and not want to put the book down.
All the stories are stand-alone but for the whole picture and your enjoyment, you should really read them all. I highly recommend this and the whole series if you love small town romances!

Two years ago, Joshua Williams shocked Carrie Brogan when he broke up with her and left town just before they were to move in together. Still living in Pride, Carrie works at the Golden Oak and runs Carrie's Sanctuary. Her mother is a veterinarian and her father is sheriff. Unexpectedly, Josh has decided to return home. He has done well and now owns his own company, Internal Security. It is inevitable that the two will see each other again. This romance is a friends to lovers to enemies to lovers story! The main characters are well described and I enjoyed the sections that talked about the animals Carrie rescued. Author Jill Sanders puts a few obstacles in their way, but she gives us a HEA!

This was a story of redemption and second chances. Josh got out alive after a rough childhood but broke Carrie's heart in the process. Carrie has moved on - or so she thought but suddenly Josh is back in town and she isn't so sure the past is going to stay in the past. Can these two work it out and stop running from what could happen? Is Josh going to stop letting his past run his future - and can he find the strength to tell Carrie why he left in the first place? As usual with Jill Sanders' stories, we see many familiar faces and several new ones. I'm really enjoying this next generation of Pride and you will too!

I truly enjoyed reading this book!
My Kind of Love is an engaging,
suspenseful, & heartfelt story.
Great characters, romance
& suspense, make it the perfect read.
Carrie's boyfriend, Josh called her
to say he was leaving town. No other explanation. She was left heartbroken.
Two years later, Josh has returned home.
Carrie wants to know why he left.
As they spend time together,
intentional incidences keep happening
to them. I loved everything about the book! Carrie & Josh steal your heart
from the very first pages to the last.
A MUST READ FOR EVERYONE!!!

A wonderful second chance romance with some mystery, action, and suspense thrown in. Absolutely loved Carrie and Josh and all the wonderful citizens of Pride. Josh had a rough childhood and was forced to leave town and the girl he loved. Carrie was the girl left behind with no explanation and a broken heart. This story of second chances and reunited lovers drew me in at page one and made me fall in love with Pride, Oregon.

Wow another great read

Wow another great read from Jill. Carrie and Josh are childhood sweethearts that had an awkward split 2 yrs before so when they meet again Carrie is heartbroken to be face to face, but it’s not long before their back to being friends again then something more happens and when they do eventually get together bad things happen to them both. They have to work together with help from the town of pride to find who’s doing it.

I may have to give up on American romance authors. The gun culture is so pervasive in the US that it's getting to hard to find a romance that doesn't include someone getting shot. and when it happens, it's treated as if though it's just part of life.
