From Needles to Natural: Learning Holistic Pet Healing
After using traditional Western veterinary medicine to treat her animal patients for many years, Dr. Judy Morgan discovered a better way to help them live longer, healthier lives. In From Needles to Natural, she shares her journey from traditional to holistic veterinary medicine and helps pet owners understand the differences between good advertising and good health for their animal friends.
With more than thirty years of experience as a practicing veterinarian, Morgan blends her personal story as a lifelong animal lover with this collection of professional opinions about animals and animal care. From Needles to Natural covers a variety of topics including pet nutrition and food therapy, pet food labels, veterinary chiropractic care, acupuncture, and understanding the array of vaccines and medications. Morgan, who has produced a full webinar series on YouTube, discusses alternative and supplemental treatments for pet illnesses.
While narrating heartwarming tales of the pets shes treated, Morgan dispels the myths about effective pet care and teaches pet owners the benefits of feeding and treating an animal holistically.

This book was great. I actually learned quite a bit that I want to apply to my own pets. Dr. Morgan is great in that she embraces both traditional and alternative therapies. A truly integrative vet. A lot of times you will see the typical traditional vet that is stuck in their ways with a close mind. They are against raw diets, require yearly vaccinations and when you ask to treat your pet differently for say allergies they will think you are crazy. There is also the other end of the spectrum as well. There are holistic vets that refuse to vaccinate and will completely ignore modern therapies such as chemotherapy when warranted.
Dr Morgan is different. She does believe that vaccines should be given, but that we shouldn't overvaccinate, or vaccinate for everything under the sun. She is a big believer in food and diet being key to getting pets well as should most vets be. She doesn't use crappy Rx diets and she does advocate home cooked or home prepared diets as they really are the best.
She isn't afraid to use western medicine though when warranted. She will use antibiotics, steroids and chemotherapeutic drugs in conjunction with eastern Chinese medicine and herbs. I believe their is the best way to practice as you have so many more options available to you. There is a lot of great information in this book as well as the great stories and anecdotes and stories of Dr. Morgan's journey from traditional veterinary medicine to a more holistic way of practicing veterinary medicine. Great book!

I heard of Dr. Judy Morgan from a podcast and heard she had several books. From Needles to Natural was the only book of hers that my local library carries.
This book started off strong but then got to be tedious and a lot of information as it progressed. I can see this being more of a book that someone would own for when their pet has an ailment so that it can be referenced, not a library book.
There are a lot of different options for alternative therapies suggested. Yet is also seems to go back and forth between some traditional medicine options of no never use it but then a couple of lines later yes you should. It got very confusing.
After reading the book it did make me want to find a more holistic vet, and find some other pet food options for my pup at least as a good starting point.
