What secrets of the cosmos will Superman, Martian Manhunter and Team Mystery discover? Will Zatanna, Wonder Woman and Team Wonder awaken alien magic they cannot put back to sleep? What can Harley Quinn possibly have to teach the rest of Team Wisdom? And most importantly…why the heck is Beast Boy on Team Entropy with Lobo and Batman? Find out all this and much more in the most exciting, bombastic event of summer 2018!

In this kickoff issue to the four-issue miniseries, after Brainiac systematically takes down all of Earth’s super-teams, the last thing the League expects is for him to ask for their help! Without their aid, his home planet and the universe are both doomed!

Prior to his first professional work, Tynion was a student of Scott Snyder's at Sarah Lawrence College. A few years later, he worked as for Vertigo as Fables editor Shelly Bond's intern. In late 2011, with DC deciding to give Batman (written by Snyder) a back up feature, Tynion was brought in by request of Snyder to script the back ups he had plotted. Tynion would later do the same with the Batman Annual #1, which was also co-plotted by Snyder. Beginning in September 2012, with DC's 0 issue month for the New 52, Tynion will be writing Talon, with art by Guillem March. In early 2013 it was announced that he'd take over writing duties for Red Hood and the Outlaws in April.

Tynion is also currently one of the writers in a rotating team in the weekly Batman Eternal series.

Can't believe it took three writers to come up with dialogue that lame. Incredible art though!

Really cool start, but not as good as metal and I'm already skeptical of how good this can be with only four issues. But I have hopes it'll be good, or at the very least spin off some good Justice League titles, cause everyone knows the Rebirth JL book sucked.

Uhm.. those dialogues.. I didn't like it. Also that art. Something is bothering me about it. Nevermind. I am not going to throw it away right after first issue, and I'll give it a chance. It's not easy to write something good that is new and with so many characters.

Events piling up on each other can be a bit tiring at times in case of the big two publishers in comics these days. This issue starts with this impending danger along with its promises. And while not totally original in its plot it does deliver with gorgeous eye catching art that keeps the reader engaged and an unexpected twist keeps them guessing what to expect in the future issues.

The issue starts by showing Brianiac systematically defeating each super team on Earth. But then throws the first curve-ball by telling us he is not the villain here rather he is trying to recruit the heroes by making a point of letting them know the weakness of their teams. Then he tells the heroes about the 'Omega Titan' who are coming to devour planets because of the breaking of the Source Wall following the events of 'Dark Nights: Metal'. He introduces the concept of the proposed new team roaster incorporating various villainous characters joining forces with the heroes in light of the upcoming crisis, meanwhile remaining forces of Earth tries to find a mean to defeat Brianiac.

The story is quite epic in its proportion and despite following a previous event actually explains the set-up nicely to make new readers understand everything. But the Omega Titans do not seem like an original concept as it almost feels like DC borrowed their concept from 'Galactus' or 'Celestials' from Marvel. The scope of the using so much character is also a bit of a gamble as always; as some get entertaining dialogues (like Lex Luthor and Martian Manhunter for instance) and sequences while others felt like being totally ignored.

But in the end what makes this comic shine is the art. 'Francis Manapul' makes great use of the scope, he has got to use here, and creates art both visually pleasing and masterfully handled to give every character enough detail. His use of the double-page spread at every chance adds that much depth to the overall feel of the large-scale of the struggles our heroes are facing. "Hi-Fi' also does excellent work on his coloring, adding even more layers into the story that makes this comic a feast for the eyes.

Lastly, there is quite an unexpected twist at the end of the issue keeping the reader gasping for breath, which is always a boost to any comic. I will definitely check out the upcoming issues of this series even for the art alone considering the quality delivered here.

I will give this issue 4 out of 5 stars.

So here's the thing, people usually read a book for the team, right? You read "Titans," for the Titans, or "Suicide Squad" for the Suicide Squad, because you like whatever 'dynamic' the team has. Going with the same example, the Titans have friendship as their 'thing,' and the Suicide Squad has 'villain' as their thing, etc.

But in this fresh outlook on it, the teams are mixed up. I love the fact that makes a dramatic entrance and sort of announces a new threat, saying that the teams we're used to are 'too predictable.' It has a meta feel to it, like they're winking at the audience, and I like that.

So to shake things up, he announces that there's a new 'dynamic' being called for with this enemy team. They'll never be able to combat it if they stay in predictable teams. So in order to even the odds, the teams we're used to are mixed into new teams, based on a strength to combat that dynamic. Like a team of the strongest Wisdom types are going to be meant to fight Wisdom, and there's a sorted team for Entropy to fight Entropy, and so on.

That's interesting, and brings back the question in the summary, 'why are some characters sorted into teams that don't seem to suit their personality?' I'm curious to find out why too, and I never knew I needed these team ups before now, it's an exciting opportunity to see new teamwork, so I love the idea. I wouldn't normally read something that didn't contain my favorite team, so this is a good way to get me interested in some of the other characters that I hadn't been paying attention to before.

I'm just a little scared that like with most big ideas, it might get hard to pull off and stay on track. So far, we're being led to Martian Manhunter's home because it's where the wisest race resides, making it a target for Wisdom. It makes me want to see where the other enemies are gonna target; it feels like an RPG quest, and I love it.

Waaaaaaay too many frikkin heroes in this book! I can’t keep straight who they all are. I thought this was a Justice League book, not an Everyone League book!!! Why are some members of Suicide Squad mixed in with Titans, Teen Titans, Teeny Tiny Titans, and even Teenier Tiny Titans? Apparently Brainiac handpicked them? Really though... what does Harlequin bring to the whole thing? Then apparently there’s this whole new evil Justice League with Lex Luthor, Lobo, Sinestro, Ettrigan, Deathstroke, and Giant Starfish Guy! What a mess! But wait... there’s more, then there’s Amanda Waller with some new secret League... Task Force IX, but they’re mostly sleeping??? 💤
Then there’s this little guy in a red robot suit? Is he the Atom? Cause the Atom never had to wear a suit before! I think I even saw the kitchen sink thrown in for s**ts and giggles! This book is all over the place and it’s quite a mess!

Well, well... Snyder was tasked with taking Prime Earth more in a New Earth direction, and I must say he doesn't disappoint here. Every character is well characterized, fun to read and the teams are sure to bring interesting dynamics. Manapul's art is also very good, adjusting so well to the cosmic scale of the tale. What I'm not sure about is already hitting us with a multiversal threat, since we JUST faced the Dark Multiverse, so a few months of ease would've been helpful. Also, these Omega Titans look and feel way too much like the Celestials, who also are at the core of Marvel's main storyline right now... hopefully they will find ways to make them very different stories.

Admittedly I probably enjoyed this more than someone who's not as familiar with the characters, but honestly I loved this. I'm so happy to see Sinestro and J'onn back, the new teams are really intriguing as a concept, and the plot feels like it has the potential to be a new Blackest Night -style arc if done right.

Not huge on the Damian and Harley bits (I like Damian and am neutral about Harley but also feel like they've been getting pushed a little too much lately), but I'm thrilled about most everyone else! I thought the J'onn and Luthor conversation was fantastic.

Definitely looking forward to more!

My first reaction to this was "I am gonna hate this."
I didn't recognize most of the people on the cover, or at the beginning of the story, but then I saw more familiar faces, my memory got jogged by the mention of a few names, and we were set to have fun.
The story also started in a worrying way, I didn't know what was happening, but then Brainiac came and explained it all.
I think this is going to be a great story, they did well to not make this overwhelming even though they are using a staggering number of characters.

Starting something is tough. Starting something with this many characters is almost impossible! (Especially when the reader [me] has too little knowledge of the DC Universe.) I still want to read, but…it is more in hopes that it will turn into something good than because it is good yet.

That was a satisfying setup to a comic book event.

There may have been a moment or two that felt less than authentic, but maybe I'm missing something and it'll make sense later.

Good start.

I was surprised how much I liked it. I'm really hoping Snyder can raise the quality of Justice League, because it hasn't been too good for a long time.

The writing is pretty good (not Snyder's best or worst). I LOVE the art style they choose. It's a nice cross of different styles put together.

Interesting concept, but a little muddy. Low on action in the first issue.

Even with the context of Dark Nights: Metal, I still found this confusing. I did enjoy the art and the story about the Omega Titans.
