Things are heating up as the Machine Empire rears its head and how will they affect the plans of the Mazon. Matsumoto continues what may be the definitive version of his universe's story tying together all of his various creations. The modern art style is working, Shimaboshi keeps certain things, like the Arcadia's main computer, very recognizable but updates and refreshes other aspects to avoid looking dated. Still great fun.

I really enjoyed the art in this volume. The Machine Empire styling was great. Best art of the series so far, in my opinion.
We get more Harlock/Matsumoto universe characters and expansion.
My continuing problem is that the dialogue and story is weak if you don't come into this series with any Harlock knowledge. I think this volume was slightly better at giving detail to follow the plot though.
