I must admit: I'm never a big fan of reading books that contain vampires. But this book piqued my interest, so I took a chance to read it. And of course, I was given for free, thanks to the author.
The beginning of the story grabbed my attention when Antonia was trying to do her experiment with herself, and then she found out that her older brother found her and started putting people that are close to her in danger. I was surprised that Antonia quickly decided to take in the role of the leader of The Raven Clan. I like how powerful she acts and how Antonia understands that no matter how much she wants to run away from her duty, she must step in. Sure, she has another family member that might take in the role.
There's a lot of action and romance, though I wish there were some tension build up because, as I was reading, I don't feel like there was. It felt bland. I was there were some plot twists in between. It was only rare with one death scene, though. As for the battle, it felt short, and I didn't feel any excitement to it. But this is just my opinion. And there were a couple of mistakes I've noticed, but I've let that slide. Overall, I love the concept of the story. I wished there more to it.
If anyone likes reading vampire stories and want romance and action, be my guest to check out the story. ^^

Great Story!
I like the characters, and the plot had just the right place. The perfect read for me over a few winter nights with a bottle of wine. But, you know, it would be just as good for a beach vacation. Looking forward to more of this author's stories.

As the Toiseach (leader) of the vampire clan, named Clan of the Raven, Antonia is expected to lead but she decides to pursue her own dreams and leaves without letting anyone know, not even her "mate" who she feels has hurt her, and hopes that they will think she has died and move on. She wishes to no longer be a part of the vampire world and instead be mortal and attempts her own project to see if it is possible.
She is found by someone who thinks of her as an enemy, Richard, who wants to be the leader of the clan. Something happens (that i wont reveal and) Antonia gets wounded (they use another wording for this, but you will read it in the book), and since she hasn't fed in very long time her condition is not good.
I feel that I should mention Arthur (brother) and Stephanie (human college room mate and more) and one of the things they do after Antonia is hurt is they watch over Antonia while they wait on Zartan (leader of The Clan of the Dragon). Though they do so much more than this, I did want to mention their names without giving too much away.
Nosferatu are another kind that have the vampire genes but they are not the same and were once enemies until a truce was put into effect....will that stay true throughout the story, if so why do they keep the truce, and if not, what made them decide to no long keep the truce? Find out more when you read this book. ^_^
Read this great book to know more on the story line, you wont believe the things in store in this book. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and cant wait to read more from this author.
I received a free copy of this book and for an honest review.

I read a lot of urban fantasy series, and i enjoyed this one as much or more than many others I've read! Great characters, that I can't wait to learn more about, and a unique take of the vampire origin story. Highly recommend..

I received this book thru Goodreads Giveaway. Thanks for sending the book. A nice fantasy with lot of twists and turns. This one comes with a meaningful cover. An easy read. The style of writing is something different and the flow of the story is too good. The story moves very quickly with great characters. Overall this is an action packed fantasy thriller.

I really enjoyed Retribution! From page one, the writing and the characters sucked me in. I loved Antonia, and was caught up in her wish to free herself from her fate as the head of a prominent vampire family. I loved the world building and always enjoy every new twist on vampires out there, along with how the book stayed true to traditional tropes. The storytelling was really nicely done and I found myself devouring this, enjoying Antonia, Zartan, Arthur and Stephanie as their stories unfolded. Excited to read more! 4/5 stars.

I am definitely in the minority on this book as I did not like it at all. I think the concept of this book was good, but the execution fell flat for me. I found the book to be quite slow, but the character exploration was well rounded. Just not the book for me, but I think a lot of people would find this spin on a vampire story enjoyable.

February 26, 2019Great new twist on a vampire drama. Love the concept of a vampire no longer wanting to be who they are and the process of coming to terms and acceptance with their future. Great read for anyone who is struggling with their place in life and wanting to make changes.
