There is a note in this handbook that explains, in part, the instructions contained therein are aimed toward members of The Strenuous Life online forum, or Gymnasium and individuals are more than welcome to use it for offline clubs, affiliations, and for personal use. That's all true and i think it would still be valuable. However, I think the most value is in joining The Strenuous Life and holding fellow members accountable along with oneself. Additionally, the book goes on to say that completion of badge requirements will get you competent in that area, but it won’t necessarily mean you’ve completely mastered that particular skill. Malcolm Gladwell popularized the opinion that it takes 10,000 hours of practice to become a master of any given skill. Whether or not you believe that, enjoy the journey. Challenge yourself! Complete each badge requirement and go beyond!

If you really did everything in this book you’d have an incredible year and be on your way to being an incredible person.
