Battlefield Pacific

The real world activity goes hand in hand with the story. It has a lot of actual results that happen in real co!bat conditions. No matter how much you want to see it work first contact throws Murphy as into the mix.

Now that I've read the currently published installations of this collection I must say it's been eager reading to me and I await the next installation.
This work is notably devoid of the "F" word and the other words used so freely by service members. So freely, in fact, that on visits home one finds oneself asking Mom to "pass the effing salt, please."
While the work has the US and its allies waging war wholesale, at least one facet has been ignored; the industries producing the vital bearings on which all machinery depends have currently largely been shunted to China. We don't have many USA-made bearings and, in a crunch, we may be hard pressed to pick up the slack as the Chinese contribution is cut off. Bearing factories were always prime targets in WW2 as the product was so necessary.
Another unmentioned facet of a really broad scale war is the supply of food and raw materials on the home front. We have supplied the world with our scrap metals as well as the responsibility for reworking that scrap to meet our needs as we would require in wartime. I susapect the home situation would be considerably different from one that is covered in this work. There are/would be many more problems than the "antifa" and the teeming socialist sympathizers.

The struggle continues

Downloaded Pacfic as soon as notification of release dropped in my email.
Without giving any spoilers as expected James and Miranda hit the mark.
I read the book in two sittings I was that engrossed.
Carrying on from where the previous books are leading the struggles continue.
The use of single characters to give the storyline a touch more humanity
works well and drags you in to there sphere of operation and thought process.
Not much more I can say without giving the game away.
Really enjoyed it, couldn't put it down, can't wait for the next one.
Keep it rolling.

Page Turning Military Political Thriller continues

The Battlefield series continues with book 4. Adding in current political drama from the US Homefront of the Communists at ANTIFA, their connections to American enemies in Russia, China and other Communist/Socialist regimes coupled with the dirty deeds by FSB/KGB to blackmail politicians to support Communist agendas all while a President thinly veiled to be President Trump, fights Socialism and a world war.

The story is also full of stories of success and characters staying alive to maintain a storyline you can follow along with. Will continue to read as the series produces more books.

Battlefield Pacific. James Rosone

World War III rages on. Russia and Chinia have formed an alliance to defeat America and it's Allies. Factions in all three countries are working against their governments. A new prime minister in England has turned against America and removed his troops from the battle. Their military is in shock at this betrayal. Anti war activists in America are plotting against American involvement. POTUS is assassinated. Everything is spinning out of control. Another amazing read in this series. Enjoyed immensely.

A good read on its own

As book four went on it seemed to move up a gear and gained multiple story lines with bigger endings. As a Briton I sincerely hope that particular scenario never happends. I could never countenance a time when we drew swords with breatherin.
A good read, very edge of the seat.

Wow, just when you think the series can't get any better.
Amazing battles in this one and a curveball you dont see coming.
Glad I wait until book 5 in this series was already out, cause I would hate to have to wait.
Recommend reading in order so you can enjoy some of the reoccurring characters progression.

The War Is Not Over

Each book in the series just gets better. This is by far the best and most entertaining war series I've read. The number of books allows for a much more detailed view of the war from all sides. Come on Book 5.........

Intense

With each book, the war keeps expanding and expanding., along with the size of the armies. This war seems to mimic is someways World War II, the locations differ slightly as well as the equipment but the tactics are almost the same.

Look forward to the next book

Great book - Great series

Great read. Military knowledge very good. A few eye rolls of "No Way", but mostly spot on. Definitely read in sequence to understand the big picture.

Another great entry in the series.

I love the way the books cut between the senior politicians, the generals and the soldiers on the ground. Gives a great perspective.

Onwards to Russia!

This was the fourth book in a series by an author -one that was suggested by a Facebook group, Military Thriller Book Group, that I had joined over the summer.

This installment follows the invasion of Taiwan by the Chinese PLA, and concentrates its focus on the Pacific Theater and the actions taken by both the Allied and Eastern Alliance, interspersed with the consequences of the election of the Labour Party in Britain (namely the withdrawal of British forces and a separate negotiation in the peace process).

To say that this book easily reads like it was ripped from the headlines (ok, not exactly from the headlines, but you get my point) is an understatement. Much credit goes to the writing team of Rosone and Watson for the ease in the flow of this story (at the conclusion of this book, I am over 1,600 pages into the story and I can't wait for the fifth book in this series).

That said, I am enthused with this series and thus far have given each book a perfect five stars out of five, and would easily recommend this book (and the series) to any aficionados of action and adventure, geopolitical stories.

As with all my literary ramblings, this is just my five cents worth.

I have read many other series of books written by James and Miranda. The Red Storm books are the most recent and I have thoroughly enjoyed them all. That said I have some criticism of book 4 ‘Battlefield Pacific’ hence the three stars allocated. I am not usually a person to complain about grammatical content, as long as the story is good and entertaining.

Unfortunately, my enjoyment was a little spoiled by the spelling of some words, the addition words that that confused the sentence, the lack of some words, again making meaning to the sentence difficult. I feel the writing had been rushed and not correctly proof read. It was only this book that really bought this home to me. I also have a dislike of the word “snickered” which adds nothing to the story and has appeared in more than one book. Also, there is a over use of the expression “staying frosty” throughout the books.

I know these are minor things in respect to the main story which I have enjoyed, but I fell standards have slipped to a degree. Poor proof reading and editing.

There is a weird focus and pacing issues with these series.
Majority of time it introduces new characters with "long" background and then proceed to kill them off not 1/3rd the length of their whole background story. It gives very little incentive to emotionally invest in them. The same is almost said for battles themselves. They have this long wind-up as to how one side is going to outwit the other one (its always the same side outwiting the other), the battle begins and halfway through it, it changes location with little time skip telling us how it ended. The build ups are there, but the conclusions are very weak and underwhelming.
Also, fourth book in, and we finally see some allied winning. By this point i almost gave up reading as it was so one sided supremacy in war that it took all the tension out of it combat, knowing full well who will win and how will it turn out. Thank god we got some turnarounds making situations more intriguing.

Great descriptive military thriller damaged by politics

As with the other books in this series the technical and descriptive aspects of this book are solid. I've dropped. My rating down to two stars because of the author's annoyingly simple black and white view of politics. Everything Democratic is bad, everything that doesn't glorify the trump-like President in the story is wrong. A series this strong deserved better. I can live with an author having strong opinions and they certainly don't have to be the same as mine, but they shouldn't be overly simplistic and insulting black and white.
