Jess is on his way back to Texas after ridding his home town of Black Creek, Kansas, from drifters and troublemakers. While he makes his way back toward Texas, he finds himself hunting another killer. That leads him to a trading post, where he finds the man he’s been looking for. He dispenses his cold justice on the killer and ends up staying the night there.
While there, he meets three nuns who are traveling to a convent in southwest Oklahoma Territory. They quickly share their opinion about what he does for a living, killing men for money. After he leaves the trading post, he finds the stagecoach carrying the nuns along the trail. The shotgun rider and driver have been murdered, and all the cash the nuns had been carrying to the convent has been stolen.
The nuns are alive and well, but now they inform him that he has been chosen to escort them to the convent and get their money back from the robbers. He refuses, but offers to help them to the next town, but they insist on him taking them all the way to the convent.
He finds himself in a strange predicament, when his horses refuse to leave the nuns. He drives the stagecoach to the next town and again attempts to leave them, but his horses seem to have a mind of their own.
Reluctantly, he submits himself to doing what they insist he must. The trip along the way is a strange one indeed. Things that go unexplained keep happening and Jess wonders who is really running things, him, the nuns, or someone else.
Librarian's note: There is more than one author in the Goodreads database with this name.
In 1990 Robert J. Thomas was sworn in as the full time mayor for the city of Westland, Michigan. He served twelve years, making him the longest serving mayor in Westland's history.
While he was mayor he wrote his first book titled, How to Run for Local Office, which has now sold over 25,000 copies worldwide.
He has written and published on Kindle, the Jess Williams Westerns series. Retired, he now lives in Mississippi with his wfe Jill.
The previous book, Black Creek, dealt with the supernatural and Satan. This one deals with Jess escorting three nuns to their convent and the praying they do for him. And, the results are just as much in the realm of the supernatural.
Unexplainable things are happening to Jess but a nun believes she has the answers. Another fine Western from Thomas. I have read all 70 so far hope that Thomas continues writing the Jess Williams series.
Our friend Jess Williams is at it again, helping those who have fallen on hard times or in some cases being bullied by a bunch of nere-do-wells. He's accompanying three nuns to their convent in southwestern Oklahoma, who were also robbed of ten thousand dollars which was for the convent. As we all know Jess leaves no stone unturned, he tracks down the perps or whomever needs face the "WILLIAMS WRATH." Jess helps those who for some reasons are having a hard time, such as the town that was slowly dying, how he went looking for good health top soil and suggested to the folks how to plant crops above ground in wooden box planters. That's something new to the west, the two gamblers who accompanied him to help escort the nuns. Read this adventure, I know it's the same plot, but the adventures are exciting and they illustrate how Jess Williams lives his life. He's a smart businessman, philanthropist. All I can say is that Jess Williams and his long horses are OK to ride the river with. Also the "DIVINE WORKS IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS," but them you never know, do you?"📉📈📉
HEY has penned the 70th installment of the Jess Williams series. Jess is on the trail of 4 killers when he comes across a broken down stagecoach. The Nuns pray and God assumes responsibility for JW's actions. As he leads the Nuns to the Church he is tasked to assist an assortment of people. He completed the tasks in his usual aplomb and separated from his partners and turns South to Texas. This is an excellent read for the genre.....ER
Robert J Thomas writes a very good story. I have read all 70 books in his series and have enjoyed every one. The lesson of giving is infectious as one reads his books they make you want to help someone who needs it. Love your books keep writing and I will keep reading.
The saga of Jess Williams keeps getting better. More adventures and getting rid of bad men while helping three nuns get their money back safely and reach their convent. Along the way Jess helps out some town start over and helping Indians get food and self respect.
Totally enjoyed this thought provoking story . I believe in justice and Jess ensures it is obtained. Justice, in my opinion, is that some acts of violence are so vile that the person committing them does not not deserve to live.
At first I wasn't sure how good the book was going to be, but I should have know better than to be a little sceptical when it comes to Robert Thomas, and the Jess Williams series. Simply put, it's another Great read !!!!! Thank you Mr. Thomas !
What an exciting story with mystery. Jess is asked by Sister Nadine to escort the three nuns back to the convent and find the robbers who stole their money while riding the stagecoach. Events occur that have no explanation but the Hand of God.
