"Once upon a time there was a piece of wood..." So begins the life of Pinocchio, the puppet who, from the moment he is first carved, gets into mischief. Embarking on a series of amazing adventures, he meets a host of colorful characters the wily Fox and Cat, the mysterious blue Fairy, and the Talking Cricket, whose words of wisdom Pinocchio ignores at his peril... This Young Classic edition helps children come to a fuller understanding of this remarkable take, and to enjoy it both as an exciting adventure story and as a moral fable. Photography sets the scene without intruding on the story, and brings Pinocchio to life for a new generation of children.

This is a heavily editted adaptation of the original Pinnochio. It is quite strange and of course very different from the Disney version of Pinnochio.

The illustrations are quite nice--the best part of the book!

Loved it! Originally written in serial form for a children's magazine, this story is filled with adventure and poignant lessons to be learned for both young and old. I really enjoy reading the original, unabridged versions of these timeless children's classics.
