Life can take some complicated paths to get you where you need to be.
Prince Rowan can't live in Mab's castle forever. If he has any chance of holding onto his title and one day being King, he'll need a wife and heirs, and he'll have to live in his own castle, in his own demesne.
Mab is finally confident of her place in Tabby's heart, so she isn't jealous of the pain and sorrow her little one feels at the loss of Rowan.
It's up to Mab and Rowan to find a way to hold their threesome together despite the political minefields in their way. Can they do it by making it a foursome?
Princess Tabitha has been slave, Lady, and Consort. She never wanted more, but sometimes destiny makes your choices for you.
Don't miss the exciting conclusion to Tabby's story!
Queen is book four in the Dark(ish) Faerie Tale quadrilogy, and should be read in the correct order.
Candace Blevins writes urban fantasy, paranormal romance, epic fantasy contemporary BDSM romance, and two kick-ass motorcycle club series. She’s published more than fifty books. Candace lives with her husband of twenty-four years and their two teenaged daughters. The family’s beloved, goofy, retired racing greyhounds are usually at her side as she writes, quietly keeping her company. Or sometimes not so quietly.
Her urban fantasy series, Only Human, gives us a world where weredragons, werewolves, werelions, three different species of vampires, and a variety of other mythological beings exist.
Candace's various paranormal romance series are all sister series to the Only Human series, and give some secondary characters their happily ever after.
Her Dark(ish) Faerie Tale series gives us a close-up and personal look at Queen Mab, and her Dark Underbelly series is, as you’d expect, dark and (if you’re a little twisted) oh-so-yummy.
Her contemporary Safeword series gives us characters who happen to have some extreme kinks. Relationships can be difficult enough without throwing power exchange into the mix, and her books show characters who care enough about each other to fight to make the relationship work. Each couple in the Safeword series gives the reader a different take on the lifestyle.

There is a part of me that is really sad that this 4 book series is over. I have been enjoying Tabby's ride with the Dark Queen. But, all good things must come to an end.
I sincerely don't want to do a synopsis of this book. There is a beautiful happily-ever-after for everyone involved and I wouldn't want to ruin anything for anyone. Can we just say that Mab may be the Dark Queen but she hasn't been happier than she is right now? Can we say that Rowan got everything that he truly deserved and has a life that couldn't be more perfect? But, not tell you how they got there? Sorry … read the story to find out how everyone found their true love.
Candace Blevins really captivated me with this four book series. Yes, it probably could have been written as one looooong novel but, I don't think it would have been the same. Each story, Slave, Lady, Consort and Queen brought you through a different phase in Tabby's life. Each one told a different but continuous story and showed all the differences yet similarities between them. Ms. Blevins did a wonderful job bringing us through each facet of Tabby's life yet stayed true to the person she was in the beginning. I really can't explain how interesting Candace made this story. How fluid and cohesive each story was. I will say that Candace Blevins did a brilliant job of bringing us through this erotic and loving journey.
As I finished the fourth and last book of this series, Queen, I was left happy with where Tabby was in her life and relationships. This book focused more on all of the people in the two separate yet related marriages.
I wasn't sure I'd like Mab at the beginning of the series and yet by the end, I respected her (but would NEVER EVER want to be part of her court). Tabby was lovable and grew so much over the books. Rowan - what a change having someone being able to enforce how to be a good person should act can make in a young man (or woman - looking at you, Ciara!). Rowan married Ciara at the end of book 3, Consort. Ciara is someone who also grew as a person over the course of this book.
If you like to read about realistic relationships in a fantasy setting, this book and this series are my recommendation. There is communication, miscommunication that gets resolved in adult manner, and love. Lots of love. I walked away from this book thinking that there are worse relationships to admire than these two.
Oh yeah, the sex - whew, hot as I have come to expect from Candace Blevins. What I liked most about the sex was that it enhanced the story, it didn't become the story.
What a grand finale to the fascinating and emotionally gripping fairy tale of a romance. The wonderfully strong, captivating characters pull readers into their story and hold them hostage until the very end. The romance is dark and somewhat sweet, but it is most unlike any other romance and full of surprising twist among all the scorching hot and passionate intimate scenes which leaves readers breathless. The love between Queen Mab and Tabby is a force to be reckoned with and readers can’t help but feel the intensity as they read all about it throughout the quadrilogy but in this final book, the duo is finally reaching for their happily ever after which is sweet but extra hot as Rowan and Ciara joins in to make a foursome proves that love is so much more. The plot is fast paced and keeps readers glued to the pages with all the hotness and emotionally gripping depth that readers have come to expect in this book series, while giving readers the inside track on a dark Queen’s ruling of her kingdom as she reaches for her HEA. In addition, this conclusion has an epic epilogue that gives readers a glimpse into the future which readers will especially like.
Read this book now for your happily ever after. This book needs to be read after reading the first three. It is a glimpse into what happens after happily ever after has occurred. Of the four books in this series, this is the sweetest and tamest one. There are still some dark kinky scenes to appease the depraved. Delightfully, there are thought provoking concepts in this story which is something I love about Ms. Blevins' writing style. Let's start with Prince Rowan.
Let's start with Rowan's journey. Now that Rowan is done with his apprenticeship under Queen Mab, he needs to move into his own castle and run his own kingdom. Marriage to Ciara helps him open the way back to being his father's heir. What I liked about Rowan in this book is witnessing how much he's matured and more specifically, his dominant side coming to light. When Rowan was selfish, his domineering personality and cruelty wreck havoc across his father's lands. This enlightened Rowan is amazing. It is a testament to Mab and Tabby's training and support. It makes me wonder if we could have more people turned around using this method. Unfortunately, some of the punishments to break Rowan down are not condoned in modern society. The most impressive feat accomplished by Rowan is the building of the bridge. The very close second is Rowan's plan for restitution of all the women he's wronged.
Tabby continues to mature as readers see how she prepares for State dinners. Her ability to take work off Mab's plate is also a big win. I love how this world shows the responsibilities of true leadership. It isn't all bon bons, watching TV and telling people what to do. A lot of thought goes into make this kingdom move smoothly. Some of the problems Tabby tackles are hard to come up with working solutions. The way some of them are solved gives us insight into Ms. Blevins and her values. I like her creative solutions and it does help this is a paranormal world where supernatural abilities help. I've said it before and I'll say it again, living in Ms. Blevins' world is more balanced than anything we have in our dysfunctional reality. When it comes down to it, this entire series carries an undertone of balance, responsibility and accountability. This appeals my need for justice and retribution.
The kink in this last book is surprisingly understated. After the intensity of the past three, there is a certain sweetness between the foursome. Some of it is because Ciara is in her month long honeymoon phase with Rowan. For those who love the hard gritty torturous kink Ms. Blevins doles out, do not lament. There were a couple of sadistic ones - one even included painful puppy play. Overall, this story brings a lovely finish to dark tale.
This dark erotic faery tale is highly recommended to kinky readers who want to be transported into a magical world where being loved by the Dark Queen brings new experiences, every day.
Wow, I am totally going to keep this series to read over and over. It's a keeper in its unique curious minds wanting to know. I loved it from the start from Slave, Lady, Consort to now Queen. It was interesting how it did leave off from the last book which I was happy for, some writers just don't. Glad Candace Blevins did, and she is a true storyteller on the dark side of love and kink. It's not normally something I read but the way she writes it you see it in your mind you get the whole visual effect. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough.
Thank you. I received an ARC copy and this is my voluntary honest review.
NOOOOOO - I want more!!!!! Seriously, I could read about these four forever and never get bored. It is the end of us having their story, but, I'm sure we'll see them again. The story, it ended perfectly; the epilogue, it showed a glimpse into the future, and all is well, and exactly as expected
The story picks up where the previous one ended. Rowan and Ciara are married, and Mab and Tabby are joining them for their wedding night. Everything evolves from there, and in alternating view points. We get into the minds of Mab, Rowan, Tabby, and Ciara. You are never in doubt of whose viewpoint you are reading, it is clear from the thoughts, as each character is unique.
The myriad of relationships, going from a threesome, to a foursome made up of two twosome, is the crux of the book. Rowan and Ciara learn to be husband and wife. Tabby learns to deal with them being husband and wife, while growing close to Ciara. Mab oversees this all, while becoming closer to Ciara, and, preparing for her own wedding to Tabby. Rowan needs to prepare himself, and his wife, to rule as King and Queen someday, soon
The book ends with the marriage of Mab and Tabby, and it was emotional for them, and me as a reader. The epilogue takes us into the future, and we get to check in with our foursome, as well as the Dragon King and the Swan Queen. If I already wasn't hooked on the stories set in this paranormal world, this would have drawn me in full force. As it is, I want to go back and stay there until the next story is told
See, Faerie Tales for grown ups are a wonderfully scary idea!
Book four of this quadrilogy begins in the proverbial deep-end, at least if your name is Ciara. And it spans a great deal of time before arriving at a pretty stunning HEA.
But the real impression it leaves is in the sum of its parts. Taken at face value, each book can be a bit intense. Taken as a whole, its a really well planned journey of four souls-seeking, and there is a depth and breadth to both their individual and collective experience.
The setting notwithstanding, there is a fanciful aspect to each separate redemptive journey, because rarely are there true rags-to-riches stories. But as each character arrives at their personal moment of truth, and it is a moment that enriches and actualizes each of them, together it also makes the four of them one strong, committed and soul-level whole. They give. And they get. Each, and together.
I like big books, and I can not lie! I'd have liked to have one big read, but one is not intended to take a serial as parts. Its as much about the journey as the destination. And there are some intense interludes along the way. But they each have an individual purpose quite apart from the obvious, as well as a collective one as it turns out.
Faerie-tale? Certainly. With some seriously real moral-to-the-story moments...
I always eagerly anticipate a new release from Candace Blevins and it doesn’t seem to matter whether it’s one of her urban fantasies, paranormal romances, or her safeword series, each and every story is carefully crafted and delivers on content, character development, amazing backdrops, and plot. Every. Time.
“Queen” is the fourth story that exclusively takes place in the faerie realm and it’s another decadent treat. Having read many of Ms. Blevins books (not necessary for this series), I’m already familiar with the Winter Queen and it was with great delight (I might have squeed) when I found out she was getting her own story in all her wicked yumminess and this one was spread out into a quadrilogy for us lucky readers. In story 4, Mab and Tabby are getting ready to marry and all the royal wedding planning that goes along with it (and not even remotely close to Harry and Meghan unless you want to compare a beagle riding with Queen Elizabeth to Tabby’s wolves. Okay, I might have.). Prince Rowan has fully embraced all his princely responsibilities including a very pregnant princess. Every scene within this story is put together like a puzzle piece, each one bringing the picture slowly into focus until we get to the end. And that ending is superb.
I have to say I hated and loved seeing the ending of this amazing series, I wanted to see Mab and Tabby happy but I wanted the story to go on and on.
I respected Mab's in the very beginning one respects power, whether its good or bad it demands respect. I loved her strengths just as much as her weakness'.
From the very beginning, I think the story was about growth about evolving. Knowing the risks and still taking that step. Slave, Queen, Lady, Prince, Man, and Woman. Each had their story, their personality to grow into and they did so beautifully.
A Queen that wields power constantly I can't imagine what it takes to rule and rule well, the sneakiness, the brown nosing and always holding court. The girl growing from a slave, to a woman learning her own ability and strengths and being an asset to the one that she loves, The male a Prince that was a spoiled tyrant remolded into a male that will one day rule his own kingdom.
Candace Blevins pens such a remarkable story and Queen finishes is superbly The Kink just a lil dark this time but still kink, the passion burned so hot, a love so true the story ended well and the series was remarkable as a whole.
its a beautiful ending to a great story !!! there is soo much to this 4th book, that you wouldn't believe its possible to find something interesting to write about after such great 3 previous books. But Candace did it and I loved every page of it. The last book had me squealin' like a teenager when my favorite couple made an appearance and I was so happy, but I need to talk to Candace about more books on that subject (or maybe just a "Candace romance" short novel for Christmas or sooner, I won't mind !!! )
Tabby and Mab really do get their version of HEA and I loved every page of it and the books will definitely go into ma re-read list. Candace tested my limits, my taste, my comprehension of feeling going through someone in certain situations and even though I've been reading her for a while now, she blew my mind with this series !!! when rating Candace's books, ALL sit on the first place !!! read the book, read the series - you will definitely learn something.
This whole series has been about the journeys we take in life to become our true selves. With Queen we watch Tabby go from Consort, to engaged to Queen Mab, and then married. Tabby struggles with these changes and Queen Mab has to remind her of her place and of her love. Rowan takes a wife and soon the trio becomes a delightful foursome that has mind blowing sexual encounters. Rowan has had a tough journey as well, from unruly, unrepentant adolescent to becoming a king worthy of the title. Queen Mab has journeyed herself in coming to love Tabby. After reading this series I find myself saying I need to handle certain situations Queen Mab style. I wish this series didn't have to end. I will be rereading these books for sure.
This is, sadly, the last part of the 'quadrilogy' telling the story of Queen Mab, her queen-to-be Tabby, prince Rowan, king-in-waiting, and his new bride, princess Ciara.
It starts with Rowan and Ciara's wedding night. Queen Mab and Tabby are an integral part of the proceedings and it is during that night the foundations of the future relationship between those four are laid.
Framing the addictively sensual part of the foursome are their interactions with the people in their respektive realms and their personal growth resulting from them. And that growth and change includes Mab the Queen and Mab the woman!
Finally, with a sweet and joyful epilog, Ms Blevins grants us a peek into the future of some of the reigning families of Faerie and it seems all is well in the land!
This is the end of the 4-book series chronicling Tabitha's rise in Faerie from a pleasure slave to co-queen with Queen Mab.
Along the way, she trained and redeemed a disgraced prince (Rowan) and taught him, through slavery, how to use power with grace instead of irresponsibility.
The first half of this book describes Prince Rowan's training of his new wife, Ciara, and the development of the various relationships between the four principals. The second half completes the story, culminating with the marriage of Mab and Tabitha.
While there is plenty of sex and sadism and masochism, this is perhaps the sexually least outrageous of the four books. Which is fine.
The book works and gives very good perspectives on all of the characters.
Queen is the last book in the series, it’s best to start with Slave since they are not standalone. I loved the story of Tabby and Queen Mab, add in Prince Rowan and Ciara and they’re the perfect foursome. They are getting ready for Mab and Tabby’s wedding. We get to see the relationship develop between the 4 of them and how they each love one another. I loved the ending. I highly recommend the entire series it’s great to see how Tabby goes from the little one to Eventually Queen, and how Mab goes from being a very dark Queen to showing so much love.
As with any series I’ve got a love/hate thing about endings. I was thrilled to see Tabby come into her own and own her relationship with Mab. But I enjoyed the struggle knowing she just had to succeed. I know that there will be issues for her in the future but I was thrilled to see her come this far. Just because this has a feel good ending doesn’t mean this was an easy book but you should expect that by now. This was a terrific ending to a wonderful series.
I was very skeptical of this entire series because “fairy tales” are not my thing. But Candace Blevins is one of my favorite authors, one of my go to, must read authors. So I took a chance and am so glad that I did. This was a phenomenal series. I loved everything about it from start to finish. Queen was no exception. A fantastic way to end the series. I loved it.
As I finished reading Queen Mab, I was left with both happiness and sadness, happy because things are brought to a conclusion and sad because we don’t get to keep reading about Queen Mab, Tabby and Rowan and his new wife.
What a great ending to the series, I absolutely enjoyed and might have held my breath and squirmed at certain scenes. Candace Blevins is the best at storytelling, she took us on quite a journey, the growth of these characters was enlightening. There are consequences for your actions.
The epilogue was one of the best I’ve read, made me have a big ‘ole happy sigh!
The books in the Dark(ish) series need to be read in order, Slave, Lady, Consort and Queen for the best enjoyment.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Outstanding ending to this series. I loved how we get to see Tabby grow and become more confident in herself and her relationships with Mab and Rowen and his new wife. I am sad to see the series end but hopefully we will hear from them again.
What a beautiful Series!! Love story of four people, three women & one man. Two Sadists & 1 submissive & 1 slave! I love the way Faery is , remembering thank you's & being so alive.
