Brendan Burchard said, "You need, more than anything else, daily momentum. It's the secret of all life happiness."
"Secret of all life happiness?" Sign me up! Just a little "daily momentum"? No problem, right? I got this.
It starts today.
"Oh. Today? Yeah, right. Today's not really going to work for me. Could we start my life tomorrow? Say, around noon?"
Life gets in the way.
What if you got in the way of your life?
What if you could steer your life in the direction you desired with just a small amount of effort delivered every day? What if that effort got easier and easier and the results got better and better? What if there were "side effects" down the road that were glorious and unknown and possibly beyond what you might have ever imagined?
"Deliciousness to my soul, is the description that comes to mind as I reflect on my experience of consuming this book. I have no idea how to put into words how deeply this resonated within me." -- P.C.
Is there a spark inside of you that is dwindling? Maybe it's hiding. Maybe you're hiding. But I know it's there. You know it's there. Are you ready to relight it?
"There's a spark within me that has been relit. I know ESD is the kindling I need to get the fire crackling and roaring... there are flames here that need to breathe and light the world." -- Peggy
What's inside of you that you would like to set free? What dream or desire or lifestyle are you not living?
"After reading this book, there is no going back. I have no choice. I make artwork everyday and I am happy. I have only been doing it for a week but, I know there is no going back. I was miserable with guilt and now I am not. I was afraid to create and now I happy to learn once more." -- Paige
Change doesn't have to be painful. It might even be small and, dare I say it: fun.
"Charbonneau's every man approach and aw-shucks humor delivers life-altering concepts and baby spoon servings." -- Sabin
Where are you on the path ahead?
"I am at a cross roads ... the road behind me was filled with procrastination and not getting things done ... I want the road ahead of me to be filled with better time management and action. This book was just what I needed to get on the right path. -- Julie
If you're looking for a gift to help someone's life move forward, have you thought about ... yourself?
"Time goes by anyway, why not start now! His easy, flowing, conversational-style makes this book a great gift for anyone - especially yourself." -- Sandi
When is a good day to start the rest of your life? How often would you like to be that person you want to become? Oh wait, wait! I know: Every Single Day.
Bradley Charbonneau has blah blah blah written 33 books and held a write-every-single-day streak of 2,808 days in a row. Yeah, whatever. Who cares, right?
Do you know what Bradley's best numbers are?
Zero and One.
Zero is the number of books he had before he started writing even One day in a row.
One is the number of books (and days in a row) he wrote once he finally got over his imposter syndrome, his perfectionism, doubt, fear, anxiety, and last but not least: procrastination.
The problem was that he started out trying to write his Best Book Ever. (PRO TIP: impossible)
It would have made things a whole lot easier, faster, and a ton more fun had he only started with his Worst Book Ever.

This is what I call a "feel good" book that promises but doesn't deliver. The blurb sounded very interesting but what I took from the "motivational" chapters was not what the author intended I'm positive. I'm not rating this because after the first several chapters I ended up skimming the balance of the book out of sheer desperation.
The book is like a kick in the pants. Ah! I needed that. I gave it four stars because the writing is good, captivating and playful. He promises to motivate me and he did. I would recommend this book to people who are trying to start a new habit or who have a dream they want to make into reality.
Every Single Day: A simple prescription for transformation — Bradley Charbonneau (Foreword+8 sections [49 chapters] + Afterword) Dec. 31-Jan. 16, 2018
I’ll start with the good. This is a good book if you enjoy reading authors who write in a conversational way. I liked the quotes at the beginning of each chapter. And there were some nuggets in here (I do believe you leave a lot about yourself when you hear stories about other people successes.) It’s not that I don’t like it…only that many times the author repeated themes and could have tightened the writing up a little more to bring clarity and conciseness to the book. This makes the book just OK for me.
It became very monotonous over time with the constant treating the reader like performer (or comedian) does to an audience. But by trying to get on the same supposed level as the reader (stating author didn't know certain words, he asked reader to look them up; and even indicating lack knowledge of geographical areas on a map,) does not work for me.
I didn’t get the possible/impossible/repossible terms at the end of each chapter. I did read the foreword and and introduction, but I still didn’t get it.
Took me longer to finish than I thought it would. I tried to be patient, but it ended up not being a good read for me.
Author Bradley Charbonneau has published several children’s books and travel books, but in this ‘self-help’ genre he unveils his own secrets for making life meaningful and successful. He wisely asked entrepreneur John Muldoon to provide a forward introduction to his work. John’s credentials include Founder of Monthly Experiments Project – ‘to help people make lasting changes in their lives by taking on 1-month personal challenges and experiments.’ The result is a book by two handsome young gentlemen who offer pathways to finding success and meaning to our lives.
There is a flavor established early on – to quote, ‘This isn’t for the faint of heart - this is for the heart. Bradley Charbonneau's life drastically changed when on Nov. 1, 2012, he accepted a challenge to Write Every Day for a month. He was familiar with monthly challenges like weight loss or waking up early, but the difference this time was that this one was close to his heart. What happened next changed his life in ways he could have never imagined. The book, "Every Single Day" tells his story--and teaches you how to achieve what you're after. Because you are after something. I know it. You know it.’
After John’s inspiring tribute to his friend Bradley, the author opens the gates to his pathway for fulfillment and success. ‘I transformed myself when I made the decision to change my behavior.’ He places bold statements throughout to make sure he has our attention, phrases such as ‘Dreaming the dream was a whole lot easier than living the dream.’He divides his recipe for change or transformation into sections: Precaution, Procrastination, Passion, Perseverance, Patience, Play, Peroration (‘a long speech characterized by lofty and often pompous language; the concluding part of a speech or discourse, in which the speaker or writer recapitulates the principal points and urges them with greater earnestness and force‘), and Conclusion or Summary of where he has brought us, adding another quotation ‘A dream becomes a goal when action is taken toward its achievement. ‘— Bo Bennett
This fine book encourages us to take a very deep breath, start afresh, and make or lives what they CAN be. A very fine book.
This book is getting on my nerves. I don't find it motivating at all, it is verbose, condescending, it overexplains concepts which are already clear (procrastination, for instance, and why it's bad), and some chapters are completely irrelevant, like the one called Purgatory, in which the author discusses how he wanted to come up with chapter titles starting with P, and what the different options would suggest. (WTF?) It's really just the author restating over and over again that whatever your passion is, you should do it every single day. You really needn't read about 200 pages to understand that.
A passionate, warmhearted, inspirational book on how to follow your dreams. The author Bradley Charbonneau writes from his own experience, that's what makes the book honest and motivational. Stop hiding, stop procrastinating, stop settle, and start doing, going for that dream. Act one day at a time, a little step Every Single Day.
Do you motivation? Do you crave a way to get things done? Bradley has the answer.
An easy read with short chapters to keep you focused on what you learned. Bradley takes us through why and how to be productive. I don’t know about you but I usually have lots of excuses why I can’t find the time to do something. But Bradley has helped me overcome some of those and I am working on others.
It’s a great read and after reading you will feel purposeful and ready to do the best you can. Thanks Bradley for a great book.
Reading this book in a single day has enlightened me.
This book conveys the message which is keep doing things every single day till you get into a feedback loop, whether we are climbing the right mountain or not all that stuff doesn't matter when we get transformed into a new person just by doing actions every single day. That really inspired me I am starting right now however trivial that action maybe.!!
I made a start, this book spoke to me in that like it's author I've dreamt, wished and wanted but never actually did anything. This book gave me the encouragement to start, now I just need to keep it up, every single day, and see where this goes. I highly recommend this book it you are a procrastinator like me.
I read this book in a few hours. The best part of this book is the quotes at the beginning of the chapters. I would not recommend this book. After reading The Motivation book, this book could've been shrinked into a blog post. The stories were uninteresting and the writing syle was not my fav.
Back when I was looking for "the secret" to good writing, I came across Barbara Ueland and Natalie Goldberg. I still have their books on my shelf and recommend them frequently. Other writers such as Elizabeth Gilbert, William Zinsser and Anne Lamott are also on that shelf. I am always open to adding more.
What all of those authors gave me, and what Bradley Charbonneau may in future works, was a sense of their ongoing struggles. They mentored me with their honesty and openness and with the quality of their writing.
Charbonneau serves up a simple prescription for getting past the procrastination and inertia that keeps so many people dreaming instead of doing. What he doesn't do for me is to present an inspiring role model. He's like a relentlessly upbeat cheerleader, in spite of his admission he has struggled with his own writing demons.
His tips are familiar to anyone who's read more than one blog or writing book. They are good tips that don't need his invention of a new linguistic paradigm (possible/repossible/impossible). If you are new to writing or one of the legions of people who "have a book in me" but aren't getting around to writing it, you may find the nudge you need in this book.
But if you are serious about writing and want the inspiration of first-rate writing and some of the best possible insight, I would recommend checking out one of the writers in the first paragraph.
Parts of this book made me want to like the whole thing - I appreciate the concept of trying to make time for the important things in one's life "every single day" (ESD). There are some motivational quotes supporting that message. However, I found that there didn't seem to be much of a message beyond those points.
I used this book as a daily reading for a month or so since it's divided into quite a few short chapters. A number of the chapters seemed so short I ended up reading a couple chapters at once to try to get a nugget to think about for the day (not always successfully). The author is definitely upbeat, and I always appreciate that vibe in a book like this.
Overall...I'm ambivalent about this one, if that's not already clear. I've seen reviews from some people who didn't care for it, and others who had found a lot of inspiration, but I'm in the middle - there were some good nuggets, but also what felt like a lot of "filler" to pad things out to a book length. It's been helpful to keep me trying to play some guitar every day as I'm trying to pick up a few basic skills there, so I've gained something by reading at least the title. :-)
It is hard for anyone to change but every reader can gain valuable information in the pages of EVERY SINGLE DAY. Bradley Charbonneau does not white wash the process but gives practical information in the pages of this well-written book.
As Charbonneau writes in the preface: “I transformed myself when I made the decision to change my behavior. It took more than two decades to ponder and wish, hope and delay, pretend, and defer. Then a few mire moments to crush it all with a simple decision to change my daily behavior—and stick with that new behavior.” (Page xviii)
The details in this book are entertaining and informative. You will want to use your yellow highlighter and sticky notes as you read to capture the insights. I loved the contents of EVERY SINGLE DAY, enjoyed reading it and highly recommend it. The challenge for every reader is to make the moment by moment changes necessary to apply the details to life.
I am very sorry to give this book such poor rating, but it really didn't work for me. I was excited when I won the Kindle version in a Goodreads giveaway. The premise of the book sounded interesting. I was hoping I'd pick up some useful tips on how to transform my life. But that wasn't the case. I felt there was no substance. Basically, the only tip the book offers is to keep doing the thing you want to do every single day. I also had a problem with the author's conversational writing style. I appreciated his effort to be witty (and I did like some of his jokes). But unfortunately after a few chapters, this endeavour to be funny all the time started to bother me. Had this been a magazine article or a blog post, I would have enjoyed it. But as a book, it was simply too repetitive and a tedious.
We already know that exemplary writing habits will change our success rate exponentially. This author reached the perpetual student, the broken heart of a mother, and the writer metaphorically, knocked face down in the dirt. I Still had to spit out the mud and the grit, dust myself off and stand up. But it wasn't fancy foot work or just a pep talk I got from this author. I got "tools". I listened to the majority of this book on Kindle. That is what works for me sometimes. If you really want to change your writing and your life, I surprisingly recommended a book I almost didn't read. What an I going to do next? Well, restart the book and I am going to be a card carrying ESD member-read the book.
This author has provided an excellent "how to" book, to move past procrastination, and getting past fear - teaching the reader how things made habitual can result in transformational success. This book could be a really important read for the new, young person looking to "start" his life journey, or switch directions after a rocky start. His writing is humorous, friendly, and engaging. I have bought two copies - one for both of my adult children.
Every Single Day (ESD) - that sums up the book. I have read far more better written books on the subject. I am not arguing that ESD doesn’t work, far from it. I just feel that these books keep regurgitating the same thing over and over again. It has a lot of fluff and contains little substance. To use the author’s words: it hasn’t changed my life.
Thanks to the author! I was kind of losing track these days and this book motivates me a lot especially in the first half of the book. I was able to take some key ideas and start applying in my life now ESD yay! While I don’t find it interesting in the second half of this book. Still, I would love to recommend to the reader that’s lacking some motivation and looking for someone to push you becoming better.
Audible:I enjoyed listening to Bradley Charbonneau narrate his how to book for transforming your life. His voice is marvalous! His ideas are really good and I can see how they can help.I enjoyed his story of how he got where he is.I was given this book by the narrator, author or publisher free for an honest review.
This was a well written how to guide about getting started on living your best life. What is your dream? Even if you have no idea what your dream life is, reading this book is a fun way to get started. I really liked the inspirational quotes in each chapter as well.
Motivating and entertaining at the same time. I tottally loved BC's writing style. I have no idea when or how I picked this book but I am glad that I did. I even plan on making my husband listen to it. Lol. The narration was awesome. I always enjoy when an author narrates his own books. You can almost hear the excitement in his voice. Overall, an excellent audio-book!
Honestly this book read like a clumsy first draft - there were lots of editing mistakes throughout including a chapter referring to pills on the front cover (which were not in mine & slightly confused me) & links that were not user friendly outside a Kindle. The writing style was way too “conversational” for me & it was a struggle to finish.
Extremely padded though a very easy, conversational read. The book could have been summed up in one sentence: Work on your goals Every Single Day in small increments to make them manageable and because daily commitment builds this into a habit.
You don’t need to read this book. Just read the title - and maybe the blurb. It is repeated several thousand times in different words, and lots of inspirational quotes are thrown in, and that’s the book.
