She freed her mind. He soon followed. Aaliyah Smith never fully recovered from the devastating heartbreak her ex gave her years ago, going as far as moving out of the state and into a completely different time zone. Aaliyah knows as much as anyone, no matter how much white sage she burns, when the universe speaks to her, she needs to listen. Ocean Ellison made the biggest mistake of his life when he left his ex without so much as saying a goodbye. Now he’s back to reclaim her and have her by his side as he solidifies his family’s legacy in the nation’s capitol. He wants to unbreak her heart. She’s not sure if he deserves the privilege. Her Ocean is a prequel erotic novella to Watercolors.
DISCLAIMER, the cover is not a representation of the content. This is an interracial romance.
Creative names for the Ellison men. Ocean, a doctor turned Senator is a very intriguing charcter, although we get a good look into his past he still holds a mysterious air about him. Aaliyah, an artist and a passionate black woman is a main character I can see myself portrayed as. She loves hard, and once that love is created she can't just turn it off.
A year or so after Ocean and Aaliyah's break-up Aaliyah finds herself standing in front of Ocean. Although the story was very enjoyable, I must warn you that a large portion of the story is a flashback to the couple's past. I see and understand this was purposely down to set-up the present/future in the next book, but I hate that the backstory took up so much space. With that being said, I have no choice but to continue.
I want this story! What a great tease/introduction to Ocean and Aaliyah. I'm intrigued by this couple. Two people as different as night and day but together make a complete whole. I loved seeing how independent Aaliyah had become since the separation. Especially appreciate the look back into how they met and became a couple. I am in love with the Ellison Brothers and can't wait for the follow up, Watercolors, to become available. Vera Roberts is a one-click author for me...this prequel does not disappoint. A must read if you like hot, spicy, intense love story with complicated, well-developed and mature characters. Thanks Ms. Roberts!
I loved reading all about how Ocean and Aaliyah's story started. This was a very good story, there were a few typos but I filled in the words and kept on reading. I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone who enjoy reading a good love story with steam and a bit of drama. Great story Vera I will be getting water colors next. Please keep these stories coming. Thank you.
I give this interracial modern day love story five stars because it was a great fantasy love affair and kinda true to lifestyle situations, however I don't believe a wealthy doctor would get involved with a tattoo artist in reality. I like that Ms. Roberts included their astrological signs in the story. I can't wait to read Watercolors. Kudos
I am loving this series so far. The Ellison brothers dance to their own beat and not Daddy Ellison. I love how these men go after what they want defying anybody's opinion. I am fyi h to see how Ocean and Alliyah's relationship plays out
I am so looking forward to the rest of this story! I loved Savior's story and can't wait to see what's happening with his brothers. I truly hope Soul's story is not far behind this one!
Love this author's style of writing. Very real and interesting romance. Full characters, and excellent storytelling grabs you hook line and sinker. Can't wait to see where this leads.
Thomas Ellison did not think about the affects he would have on his son's life by forcing his lady love Aaliyah Smith out of Ocean's life because of political aspirations his father and his cronies wanted Ocean to fulfill. He father practically blackmailed her out of his life There were secrets of her last that she did not reveal to Ocean. Tom thought that Ocean needed the right cookie cutter Stepford Wife type on his arm, and all of her tattoos and skin color did not fit the consent stove crowd they were after for support. Even though Ocean was forced to do his father's bidding for support he would get for the disadvantaged community, it never killed his love for Aaliyah.
Since his election to Congress over a year ago, he never forgot her and missed her terribly a sought her out to apologize the first chance he got. He was determined to get her back by any means necessary even if it meant missing his father off.
With all of this said, I HATE CLIFFHANGERS! Now I have to wait and read the next book to see what happens next.
