If you're looking for laugh-out-loud books, check out the BODY MOVERS series! To-date, titles in the series include:
PARTY CRASHERS (prequel) BODY MOVERS 2 BODIES FOR THE PRICE OF 1 3 MEN AND A BODY 4 BODIES AND A FUNERAL 5 BODIES TO DIE FOR 6 KILLER BODIES 6 ½ BODY PARTS (novella) 7 BRIDES FOR 7 BODIES
8 BODIES IS ENOUGH
9 BODIES ROLLING
Q: Do I have to read the BODY MOVERS books in order?
A: It's best to read the first book BODY MOVERS before 2, 3, 4, etc. But PARTY CRASHERS stands alone as a mystery. Carlotta Wren is a secondary character in that book, so you can circle back to read PARTY CRASHERS later (and see Carlotta before she was scared straight!).
USA TODAY bestselling author Stephanie Bond was seven years deep into a systems engineering career and pursuing an MBA at night when an instructor remarked that she had a flair for writing and suggested that she submit to academic journals. But Stephanie, a voracious reader, was only interested in writing fiction–more specifically, romantic fiction.
Upon completing her master’s degree and with no formal training in writing (her undergraduate degree is in computer programming), she started writing a romance novel in her spare time. Two years later in 1995 she sold her first manuscript, a romantic comedy, to Harlequin Books.
In 1997, with ten sales under her belt to two publishers, Stephanie left her corporate job to write women’s romantic fiction full-time. In 2011,
Stephanie launched a self-publishing business. Since that time, she has sold more than 1 million copies of her own books. To-date, Stephanie has published over 70 novels and has over 6 million copies of her work in worldwide distribution in numerous languages and formats.
The trials and travails of Carlotta Wren are far from over, even after the return of her parents and clearing her father, Randolph, of all charges. Her mother is having serious memory issues, her father is disappearing for periods of time, her brother, Wesley, can't figure out what he wants to do with his life and the three guys she has been involved with, well, that is still as much a quandary for Carlotta as it ever was.
At least she has her good friend Hannah for support. Hannah has taken up Roller Derby and it is a hoot until someone drops dead.
I used to enjoy this series. Most of the earlier installments were fun, easy companions for listening while I doing things around the house or taking an evening walk. Aside from the revelation at the end (which means the series will continue), this installment was supremely boring and BARELY held my attention. The "mystery" element for this one was beyond lame. Disappointing.
Just when you think carlotta is starting to get her life together, Stephanie bond throws you for a loop! I really thought she was going to end up with coop but it always comes back to jack. And then the twist at the end!!!! I can’t wait to read the next one!

DNF. Love the series but cannot stand how AWFUL the narrator, Maureen Jones, is. I've somehow lasted through Book 8, only because a few of them were read by Cassandra Campbell, but I am done now. AWFUL.
This was so good and left me wanting more. Now I have to wait again ugh! I need for the 10th one to be written today lol One of my fav series. Looking forward to more Wren family stories. Don’t take too long to come out with your next book.
This series is still enjoyable and light. There were a few surprises at the very end. I don't see a happy ending in site for any of the main characters. I wish Carlotta would hook up with Coop once and for all. The lack of movement is getting old.
I just finished book #9 in the Body Mover Series and I am floored. So not where I thought it would be going. When 8 Bodies Is Enough ended with what we thought was Carlotta finally picking one of the three love interests in her life, Coop, I was overjoyed. But that joy did not last long.
In this story Carlotta and Wesley have their family back plus the new addition of a little sister named Priscilla. With their father exonerated and their legacy restored life is back to normal. You would think. But it is anything other than normal. Carlotta is having trouble figuring out her new reality. With Peter in jail, Jack's upcoming fatherhood and Coop filling in for the doctor at the morgue, Carlotta is trying to get a grasp on her feelings. Knowing that Jack is unavailable would make this decision easy or so that is what we would believe, but it is not to be. With the stress of everything Wesley and Carlotta are having trouble adjusting and moving forward. Book #9 is all about the adjustment and healing old wounds and moving forward. But can they adjust to the reality of what life has just handed them and move forward towards happiness?
I have been a huge fan of this series for a while and I am so in love with the series. Not only are the plots fun and entertaining, but they have a unique set of characters that keep us wanting more. Stephanie Bond has created a wonderful world with her Body Moving Cast. And just to spice things up a bit, she has revamped our characters and mixed things up a bit. Each book has more and more surprises in store for the readers and this one is no different. Which has me biting my nails till the next release. Let's hope she writes a new one soon. She definitely left us hanging with a bunch of what ifs.
After 8 books of searching for her missing parents, Carlotta Wren found them in Los Vegas. While that 8th book answered many questions and eliminated many of the negative characters in Carlotta and brother Wesley's lives, it is this 9th book that finally deals with the family and the difficulties that 10 years apart really caused.
While Jack is tied to Liz and she is in jail, he is out of bounds for Carlotta. Her former fiance, Peter, is also in jail, and has confessed he still loves her. But it is Coop who is unentangled and helping the Wren family with the mother's (Valerie) illness, who is seeping into her heart. Meanwhile, Wes is still trying to get Meg interested in him, stay off the Oxy, and bond with his father through repairs to the apartment and playing golf. The sad thing is neither of the siblings is adjusting very well.
This series is a long time favorite with me because in spite of being abandoned, Carlotta has always continued searching for her parents. I have enjoyed the many achievements along the way as well as the grit and determination she has shown to take care of her brother and herself. Wes has been in trouble more than he has been out of trouble, a frustration for all, including this reader. I was glad in this book he was finally setting healthy goals for himself. Then for me, the ending let me down when Wes doesn't believe in himself, Carla waffles between Coop and Jack once too often in my opinion, and even Valerie and Randolph haven't seemed to grown up either. The author assures us that she will continue writing the series, but will the characters ever move forward? Will loyal readers keep returning?
I thought things might change with how things were resolved in the last book, sadly that wasn't the case. Part of the issues seem like something to expect. Carlotta and Wes both seem to think life should be like before their parents went missing, but it's been 10 years, everyone has changed.
Randolph doesn't come off good at all. I found it very hard to believe him when he talked to Wes about what he wanted his son to do. And Wes, man that boy will never grow up. He keeps making one bad choice after another.
Carlotta is in an odd place in this one. Sort of mother to Prissy, keeper of her parents and still parenting Wes. None of it turning out very well, but most of the fault isn't hers. The family is screwed up, none of them want to seem to deal with what happened, just move on. Not sure that is a good thing. Then there is Carlotta's love life. Through out this series she has gone between 3 guys, much like a pinball. Finally it seemed like one of them might stick, one where Carlotta has a real chance at happiness but she messed it up at the end.
Then we have the disastrous family Christmas, one that has waiting for 10 years. At this point you would think that all the secrets have come out, but no, there was at least one more spill and boy it was a doozy, one we will have to find out what happens and the why in the next book.
This is an awesome addition to the Body Movers series! I have been a long-time huge fan of the series but lately I have read each new book with trepidation because there have been so many surprises, and not all good in my opinion. But this one is heading in a new direction and I like it! (Thank you Stephanie!!) Randolph & Valerie Wren have returned with Priscilla (Prissy). It throws both Wes and Carlotta ' s lives into turmoil but they are working through all the changes. This was well done. Prissy is a wonderful addition to the family with many funny and serious moments. Carlotta still has the 3 guys in love with her but circumstances keep changing that affect her. Hannah joins a Roller Derby team so the crew go to the games to cheer the team on. At one of the games, the mascot ends up dead of a heart attack. But is it? Then a team member is strangled. Just a coincidence? The explanation of the Roller Derby was helpful and made the story interesting. There is a bit of a cliffhanger of course but not as controversial as the last few books. This was one of the more enjoyable books in the series!! I can't wait for the next book!
I loved returning to these cast of characters. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the previous books and this book did not disappoint. It did take me a little bit to get back into the characters since it had been so long since the last book but it didn't take long to catch up.
I enjoyed the message of this book. Carlotta finally got her parents back after years of wondering where they where. It kind of shows that no matter how much you wish for something, when you finally get what you wish for, it isn't that it is all cracked up to be. Wes and Carlotta imagined how it was going to be once and if their family ever reunited and it just didn't live up to expectations. For the most part, I think 9 times out of 10, that is what real life is.
Of course, we have the love triangle questions all up in the air. Of course, I've been team Jack since book #1. Although, I must say that Coop is slowly growing on me :-)
I really thought the mystery was over after book 8 but this one has even more mysteries! This series is about Carlotta, whose parents left her with her 9 year old brother to raise 10 years ago. In book 8, her parents are back.
In this book, Carlotta's friend Hannah does roller derby and the mini-mystery is about the roller derby team.
However, everything happening around the mystery is crazy! Her mother gets a diagnosis, her father's secret appointments are explained, and the Liz story has another twist and turn. And not only does Carlotta get farther away from one more of her beaux, but she gets yet another giant mystery to finish up the series!
This series is fun, a lot like the Janet Evanovich One for the ... series, but sooo much better. The characters are lovable, the world is fun and the mysteries are compelling. Wow.
This was such a let down after the Randolph Wren drama wrapped up in the last book. It focused mainly on the family dynamic which was awful and boring. Wesley is once again being self-destructive and Carlotta is determined to screw up anything good in her life. Prissy is a brat who everyone caters to and lets her get away with things. And Randolph is judgmental and overall another unlikable character. The final insult to this book was the Liz twist; it was beyond stupid and made no sense at all. The author could have had her have a miscarriage to free Jack up but this twist was just awful. Overall, I found this book dragged even more so than usual and I have no clue how the author will fill up 3 more books.
Damn. The story had finally moved on from Randolph being missing and Carly having three guys on the line but this kinda backpedaled that in some ways. I was ecstatic to see Carly finally give coop some attention but the last minute ditch along with the note and picking up rainy is very tacky and not at all like coop (random character shifts are bad writing and annoying). It is definitely out of character for coop to abandon a woman who he’s explicitly told that he would wait for. It’s definitely an interesting twist about Carly’s dad and i’m eager to see how that plays out. I appreciate how naturally (with some growing pains) the Wren family relationship has grown, ditto for meg and Wes.

Her parents returning after 10 years of hiding, a new 9 year old sister, her mom's health crisis, and her best friend Hannah joining the roller derby - these are just a few of the things Carlotta's is juggling plus of course the boy friend dilemma, as always. Carlotta needs to make up her mind about the men in her life and stick to her decision, she a little old to still be so unsure. The roller derby is a new craze of Hannah's and surprisingly Carlotta loves to watch and cheer on her friend. And lucky she does because someone is trying to kill off the team and Carlotta figures out and why. There are cliff hangers that make me need to read the next installment of Carlotta' adventures.
I love this series written by Stephanie Bond!!!! Carlotta Wren is still reeling over her parents return after a ten-year absence. After putting her life on hold for so long she's not sure how to move forward. Her new reality isn't exactly what she thought it would be, especially considering the altered circumstances of the three men in her life. I'm in an abusive relationship with this series and because I make dumb decisions will stick it out until the end. It's supposed to be a cozy mystery but the mystery part is really minimal so it feels more like super trashy chick lit. The characters have somehow become dumber and even less dimensional, and there's a new character that's just as punchable as the others. Like I said, there's no logical reason to subject myself to these books that seem to get worse other than maybe deep down I kind of enjoy a hate read every now and then.
I am enjoying the ninth installment body movers much more than the eighth. I have greatly enjoyed seeing the character grow and change over time this is development done right. While I am extremely disappointed that Carolinas bathroom hand writing on the wall hasn't manifested it was great to see the character of my choice and such a good light all throughout this book. The ending was inexplicable and worth reading. I can't wait for another book!
Once again Stephanie Bond has killed it with 9 Bodies Rolling I had the book for about a week because I was uncertain how thing's would go and I am so emotionally invested in the characters and this series that it wouldn't kill me if Stephanie and I had conflicting views on how the story should go. 9 Bodies Rolling is amazing and was well worth the wait #teamJack
I love this series. If you haven't read any of these books, you need to start with the first book. There is a lot of back story to the characters and I feel like you need that with this series. I do want to see Wes get his girl and for his life to straighten out. I really want to see Carlotta pick a man and settle down, I don't know if I want it to be Jack or Coop. I'd be happy with either. I do feel for Peter too, but he's her past.... There are so many colorful characters to this story. I only wish the books came faster. It seems like I read the first one 15yrs ago :(
I would give all of the other books in the series 5 stars but this one seemed short and didn't have as much suspense and interaction with the love interests as the other books. It was still good, but I will be looking forward to the next book to bring back the more interesting plot and dialogue with the male characters of the previous 8 books.
I have loved this series and am glad that Stephanie Bond found a way to continue the story.
However, I will take the author at her word that this book was a reboot of the series, resetting the lives and expectations of the main characters. Having said that, I found the story to revolve mainly around the lives of the main characters with a fleeting nod to the murder mystery. I did read the book almost completely in one day, so the stories are ultimately readable.
Ends that we’re tied up are now unraveled again as this dead horse is getting flogged across the finish line! There was no real story line and a forced (so called) mystery! I am now just appeasing myself with the fact that Coletta will eventually get with Jack, Wesley will eventually with Meg, mum will get better and dad will go back to work... the end (for me anyway)
After reading 9 books in a series you at least want to understand the plot and have a least one character happy. Well you get to understand the plot but it still leaves you with " that can't be it" but NOT in a good way. By book 7 this became a bore feeling like what I THINK a man feels like when he too miss is out on a "happy ending" 😜😜
I love this series, it's different and the characters are all unique. However sadly 9 body's tolling fell flat for me, the whole book I was waiting for something interesting to happen and it never did. The roller derby murders seemed to be a side plot and the main characters didn't have much interaction with each other.
Roller derby, murder, a bratty sister, & their parents appearing after years. Carlotta & Wesley are trying to hold it all together. Delving deeper into family dynamics after being apart for 10 yrs & mom's dementia getting worse the family is in uproar. Carlotta still juggling 3 men & Wes trying to patch up with Meg.
It’s been a while since I got back to this series and forgot how much I enjoyed it. Yes there’s a love triangle but I enjoy the storyline and characters enough for me to not be bothered by it but intrigued. After all the tears of searching for their parents life is n adjustment for Wesley and Carlotta . The mystery was interesting and fun .
