Superheroes, adventure, science fiction, pop culture, and romance fuse in J.T. Bock’s third UltraSecurity book TimeTrap.
UltraAgent TimeTrap is hiding out. This peace-loving, universe-traveling hero is tired of fighting Aztec gods, sociopathic scientists, and her reality TV–star mother. She needs a vacation from using her superpower. With comfy slippers and streaming movies, she’s taken refuge with her new boyfriend, Max Martin, in his high-tech, gated home.
Max owes TimeTrap his life. She saved him from a dimensional-jumping kidnapper, and he’s fallen hard for her. He promises to protect her at any cost. Whatever TimeTrap wants, he’ll give her.
But is she really safe with Max?
Because TimeTrap has uncovered a classified project in his basement lab, which shoves her into the clutches of a mysterious organization and a life-sucking entity called the Dark.
A journal that belonged to Max’s deceased grandfather might hold the key to helping TimeTrap. But to decode the mysterious journal, Max must do the unthinkable and embrace the evil energy that threatens both universes. He would do anything to rescue her, but can he win back her trust, or will he become her worst nightmare?
When J.T. Bock was a child, she wanted to be James Bond or Indiana Jones or a vampire hunter or Wonder Woman. Whatever brought her the most action, adventure and romance while play acting on her stage—otherwise known as her grandmother's basement. Now J.T. has assembled her own team of action heroes, supernatural creatures and maniacal villains and set them on adventures far from her basement to exotic lands and alternate dimensions.
From a secret location outside of Washington, DC, J.T. conjures these pulse-pounding tales to share with those kindred readers looking for an exciting escape. Her alternate identity enjoys spending time with her workaholic husband and their sidekick rescue dog, traveling to interesting locales (San Diego Comic-Con), and enjoying life to the fullest with an amazing group of family and friends and a good glass of wine.

I received a complimentary copy of TimeTrap by J.T. Bock and have chosen to read and post an honest review. I have given this book four out of five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was a very interesting sci-fi fiction book which I thoroughly enjoyed reading! This is the third instalment in the UltraSecurity Series by J.T. Bock, which can be read as a standalone novel. This book follows the lives of Kali, an UltraAgent and likeable heroine, and her boyfriend Max Martin, a CEO smart, geeky genius. In the previous book to this series Kali saves Max's life and this third instalment starts with everything being hunky-dory between them, but when Kali discovers a secret that Max has been hiding from her, it's a question of whether Kali can trust Max again. When Kali finds a journal that belonged to Max's grandfather, she finds herself being sucked into a portal. We follow them on a journey through time travel where our characters flee between dimensions to stop an alien force called Dark. In this novel we are met by aliens, transhumans, parallel worlds and villains. One of my favourite narratives is to read from two different perspectives and that's exactly the style I received from this book which I thoroughly enjoyed. I really liked the characters which are introduced in this book, I thought they were well-developed and interesting characters who I'd love to read and learn more about. I loved Bock's writing and thought that her world building and timeline skills were very strong. Especially as this is the third instalment to this series and she's able to fill in the reader with enough details regarding what had happened in the previous books to help keep you up to date without revealing too much that could ruin the fun of reading the earlier instalments. Although I would love to read the first two books prior in this series as I like to have a sequenced timeline of events (it's a peace of mind thing). This was a really great story which kept me intrigued and engaged throughout. I hope to read more of J.T. Bock's material in the future and look forward to reading her previous books in this series.
The super hero TimeTrap, Kali, just finished a mission where she saved her boyfriend Max Martin. All she wants to do is hole up with Max, lay around in comfy clothes, and bing watch tv. But that is not going to happen when she discovers a journal from The Man in Max’s basement and finds herself sucked into a portal.
Max has been trying to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps all his life but he has discovered that his grandfather was not the man he thought he was. But to save Kali he is going to have to ultimately betray her and follow his grandfather’s journal. But with her disappearing there was no time to explain what was happening. Now he hopes he can get there in time to save her from The Man.
This story has a little bit of everything in it. Superheroes and villains, time travel, parallel worlds, aliens, and anything else you can think of thrown in for good measure. I just love Kali and Max. I understand why both of them did what they did. But I hoped and prayed that they would make it through and still be a couple.
This is the third book in the series but I had no trouble figuring out what was going on. I’m sure starting from the beginning would have been better but now I can go back and catch up on what I missed. This is a great story and one that will keep you engaged the whole way through. Make sure to pick up a copy today.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. I voluntarily chose to read and post an honest review.
Ok so first of all my neighbor friend wrote this so of course I had to download and read it! Second of all, I didn’t realize this was a series until after I got it, but after reading it, I feel like this could be a stand alone. The author more then explains the characters that are introduced and gives a brief background on them. So I didn’t feel too lost about who was who. (I also went back to the other books and read a brief synopsis) third of all I love time travel stuff even though it confuses the hell out of me all the time. I think she did a good job with the timelines, but then of course parallel universes is introduced (because that always happen lol) I really got into it when the 2 main characters were transported to the past in an alt universe. There’s aliens, trans humans, alien goo, bad guys, bad organizations wanting the alien goo for the wrong reasons, etc. a lot of action and information packed in. If you’re into this kind of stuff, I’d suggest starting with book one. After reading this I believe I’m going to do that as well :)
JT continues to entertain, mystify and surprise the reader in her latest book, TIME TRAP. As in her previous books and novella, the character development creates both a physical and psychological personification. I am a fan of mystery writers and take joy in anticipating the next move, solution or probabilities in the stories I read. Quite often I can foresee what will happen next. Not so in TIME TRAP. Just when you think you know what comes next, WHAM, there is a twist that captivates and makes you want to read more. It warmed my heart to see my friends, SUREFIRE and RAVEN, characters from her first book A SUREFIRE WAY, partner with Time Trap to battle evil. I strongly recommend, for those who haven’t read JT’s other writings, to start with the first book and read her writings in succession. Like a construction project, each one adds another “story” to the structure.
Ready to take a break and enjoy some down time Ultra Agent Time Trap is settling in. Max, the boyfriend, is happy about it too. Then the question surfaces, is Max trustworthy or is there more than meets the eye. It's time to uncover the truth about Max, what his grandfather did and if they can make it through all of the good, bad and ugly.
This is the first book in this series that I have read and I love it! Is it sci-fi, romance, suspense?? The author, J.T. Bock keeps the wheels spinning and the reader fully engaged. I now am excited to go back and read the first 2 books in this series.
I absolutely adored TimeTrap! I'm disappointed I started the series in the middle, but am excited to go back and read the other books prior to this one. J.T. Bock does a great job of world building and the plot threads are expertly tied by the time the book is done. (While I hadn't read the other books first, the story made perfect sense. It's a stand alone but the characters have continuity throughout.) Well done, Ms. Bock!
