Rise of the TMNT is my favorite show, so I’m a little disappointed. But I guess that’s what I get for reading a book intended for six-year-olds lol
This book adapts four episodes of the show pretty faithfully, but it just doesn’t work in this medium. In the show, the dialogue is snappy with larger-than-life animation to go with it. It’s something that can really only work in the animation medium, and reading it on the page just isn’t the same.
The prose is obviously intended for very young children (most likely new readers) and the overuse of exclamation points got grating. It’s interesting to me how the show is my absolute favorite, but this book (a one-to-one adaptation of the show) is not written for me. Weird.
