Four Horsemen #2

Drawing Strength From Words

Rate this book
New from award-winning author, C.A. King - Meet the four horsemen: Michael, Gabrielle, Uriel and Raphael.

For centuries their sole purpose has been guarding the sealed gates to hell. Without keys, there was never any real threat. That was about to change...

For Gabrielle, protecting mankind was merely a job for which she received little credit. The vast insecurities of men altered history itself, portraying her as a masculine brute. Taking a back seat to her brothers seemed the right thing to do, but left a bitter taste in her mouth and an impenetrable barricade shielding her heart.

***********

Ryder bounced around the system from the moment both his parents were killed. Between that and run-ins with the law for crimes he never committed, it seemed the whole world was conspiring against him. Never growing attached to anyone was rule number one: a rule he'd never broken until a white-haired vixen, with blocks of ice on her shoulders, walked right into his life. Melting through those frosty layers became all that mattered, even if that meant sacrificing himself in the process.

About the author!

I was diagnosed with clinical depression after the loss of my mother, father and husband within three years of each other; all to cancer. 24/7 in-home care, coupled with the loss I felt, left its mark on my psyche.

Depression takes up a lot of my life. Reading and writing are the only things I have found that help (in connection with regular medication), even if only for a short time. To escape to a different world can make a big difference in my mood in real time.

To put things in perspective, when I was at my lowest point, I couldn't open mail, talk on the phone, or even drive to the store. Walls of sadness surrounded me. As they closed in, tears would fall. There didn't need to be a reason or trigger.

People ask me why I started writing. My answer is simple: I wanted to create a world into which other people with similar problems could escape. I wanted to share the one place that had helped me for many years.

I have always said that as long as one person finds a little bit of happiness out of my books, I am, in my opinion, an accomplished author. The same is true for every writer out there. Please don't ever let anyone tell you different.

I read books as well as write them and have visited the worlds many different authors have created. Those worlds not only make me feel better, but give me the strength to face real life again. I want to thank everyone who writes - I want them to know they are making a difference.

Thank you for reading and writing.

I enjoyed writing Gabrielle and her unique weapon. She's the strongest and smartest of the four! More importantly, though Dante's character evolves in book two. He makes a formidable villain/anti-hero for the horsemen that I personally love to hate.

Drawing Strength From Words (A Four Horsemen Novel Book 2)
By: C.A. King
5 out of 5 stars

The story Drawing Strength From Words (A Four Horsemen Novel Book 2) by C.A. King is a thrilling paranormal book. It is a wonderful story that hooked me in from the very beginning and I didn’t want to put it down until I had finished the last page. The book creates an atmosphere of mystery and suspense that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I loved reading about the characters of Gabrielle and Ryder. Gabrielle is a strong, confident, and resourceful woman. She also is a woman who keeps her heart guarded. Then she meets Ryder. Ryder’s life has not been a smooth one and he is not one that can easily grow attached to someone. Then he meets Gabrielle. When these two meet a connection/bond starts to grow between them. Can Ryder get past Gabrielle’s walls? The story is fast-paced and I enjoyed the mythology that is told. This is a well-written book that I highly recommend reading. It is the second book in a series and I look forward to reading the next one.

Full disclosure: There has not been a book written by this author that I have not enjoyed.

This is a modern take on the ancient tale of The Four Horsemen. Even if you are unaware of the theology behind the story (myth?), you will be able to easily follow along because the author IS THAT GOOD!

The story flows perfectly from beginning to end. There are a lot of characters and each one is an integral part of the story. There is no confusion as to who plays what role.

The fact that the 2nd horsemen is a woman made this story even more compelling to read. It's unusual to read Gabriel as a female and I liked the twist it gave .

This is a quick read and one I very much recommend. Because of it's ease, lack if violence and lack of sex - I would recommend it to readers as far ranging as my younger cousins to my mother's book club.

Highly recommend to paranormal fans and anyone who enjoys a fast-paced story.
Imaginative and fun with likeable characters. The story is well thought out and written.
The story is a great mix of ancient myth and contemporary life with a chunk of humour, some fast-paced action and a light sprinkle of romance. Ryder starts his day in court where he is found guilty of vandalism although he was innocent. He ends his day running from demons with the help of an unknown woman.
Although this book is 2nd in a series it worked as a stand alone. However, I enjoyed this one so much I'm going to have to read the first book!

I've read quite a few of this authors books at this point and this one despite being on the slightly shorter side felt like it had more moving parts than usual. It's an aspect I really enjoyed as it kept me wondering how everything was connected. I also enjoyed the fact that the two protagonists from the first book briefly re-appeared at one point to offer a bit of insight into the timeline as well as a miniature recap that still helped further the story. Ryder and Gabby, the two stars of this particular instalment really do seem like a good pairing as they complement each other well. It'll be interesting to see what other pairings we get in the rest of the series now that it is becoming clearer what is happening and is at stake.

This is a quick read, but full of action. I wanted to read this one as soon as I finished book 1. This is a completely new and refreshing take on creation and the apocalypse. The second book focuses more on Gabrielle and a different human with ties to the keys than the first book, but the story still progresses. There was a little less romance in this book than the first. I'm hoping Gabrielle and Ryder's relationship gets explored a little deeper in further books

I don't think book 3 is out yet, but I will get it as soon as it is

Drawing Strength from Words by C.A. King a five-star read that turns myths on their heads. This is number two in the Four Horseman novels series and they go from strength to strength, I read number one a while ago and then read number two and three in very quick succession and now I just need number four. Out of the three I have read so far number two is my current favourite as it just takes the whole story and adds something extra to it, this whole series has been full of twists and turns and has kept me in the edge of my seat all the way though, but this one just had the extra layer. Gabriel what a character, she really does pull I out of the box, ad when you add Ryder to the mix it just creates an explosive story that will suck you in, spitting you out the other side changed.

Drawing Strength from Words is the second book in the Four Horsemen series by C.A King. I have read all of Ms. Kings books now, and this series has quickly become my firm favourite of hers. That is really saying something, because I have seriously loved all her books- but there is just something about this series, and this book in particular, which has really captured my imagination. The story drew me in and I lost all sense of time and my surroundings, as the story swept me up on a fantastic adventure. I was so lost in the story, and so when the end came, I really wasn’t ready to leave- I wanted to keep reading. This is one of those few occasions where the writing is so on point, the storyline is so captivating, the characters are so believable and likeable, that you can’t help but wish the story was much longer, so you could stay in that world with them for a few more hours. I am excited that there is another book(s) coming
This series is Ms. King’s take and twist on the four horsemen myth and what she has produced is a very creative and imaginative urban fantasy that has demigods, demons, good vs evil, mystery, suspense, action, drama, a little romance, and supernatural elements.
Gabrielle is one of the 4 horsemen, who along with her brothers has been tasked with guarding the gates to hell. As the only female among the horsemen she feels the need to constantly prove herself. Especially when most people assume that she would be a male to do that job. Gabrielle really isn’t a people person, preferring her books instead. But, on a foray out into the world, she is drawn to a man who needs her help to evade some demons who are hell bent on capturing him. There is something about him that intrigues her like no one else has ever before. But, with evil stalking him and danger an ever-present threat- she will need all her wits and skills in order to figure it all out and keep them safe.
Ryder has had a pretty hard life and has the worst luck ever. We meet him as he’s being sentenced for a crime that he didn’t commit- and finds himself having to do a year of community service at the Ancient History Library. But strange things have been happening, and he soon finds himself in a situation that he finds hard to comprehend. Out of the blue, a gorgeous woman sweeps in just in the nick of time. But the danger is far from over, and it’s no longer just his life on the line. With sinister plots and evil intent, will Ryder survive, or will the evil forces out for his blood win out in the end?
Fantastic reading!!!
Can’t wait for ‘Hitting the High Note”, which is Uriel’s story- the next book in this series!!

Thank you, Ms. King!

CA King continues to excite me with this take on the Four Horseman story. Now, I was familiar with this story, or myth if you will, before I started this series. It has a complex and theological background to it that takes some time to understand. There is a different ring to the storytelling behind it and it isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. It just happened to be something I did enjoy before. This version of events though is my favorite. It is realistic in a lot of the concepts and it also mixes a perfect amount of fantasy in to balance it perfectly. CA King weaves a beautiful rendition of fantasy, romance, and drama with the tale of Gabrielle and Ryder. I would also add that you should read the first book in the series first, Flower Shields, just to get a better feel of things and establish the story for you. It is a great read too!

The first big twist, and one of my favorites is that Gabrielle is actually portrayed as a woman. I loved this take on it and the narration she showed us a side of that was completely different. In general Gabrielle is a very relatable character for me. She is more of an introvert, and sticks to her books and those close to her. Her and her brothers’ make up the Four Horsemen, and their job is a very important one, guard the gates to hell. She feels that she is held to an especially high standard given that she is the only woman of the Four Horsemen.

We meet Ryder during his sentencing for a crime that he firmly denies having committed. Regardless, of his pledge of innocence he finds himself sentenced to a year of community service at the Ancient History Library. Things start to get a bit crazy though, and strange events have him questioning everything he has known before. He finds himself being hunted by demons hell bent on catching him.

This is where Gabrielle comes into play in Ryder’s life. She is determined to protect him from the demons that are after him. Both of them are now at risk and in danger. Will Gabrielle be able to protect him and keep herself safe too? Who will prevail? Good or evil?

This book was wonderful, and I am eagerly awaiting the next in the series, Hitting the High Note, which will be Uriel’s story. I can’t wait to see what twists CA King will throw our way!

Drawing Strength From Words (A Four Horsemen Novel Book 2) by C.A. King was a fast pace, action packed fantasy that was just as good, no, better then the first.

Oh boy, I am in love with this series and where I think it's going. I was right about how each book is going to play out, but it is a continuation series, so though they do follow a different MC, I highly suggest reading the first book. Because the main plot is what's continuing. This is a short read coming in a 162 pages, the first book is about that as well, so it won't take you long to catch up.

Being this a short book, more of a novella, then not having time to fully develop it's characters is a given. But with that being said, this book gave a us more into the antagonist side of things. Since the first book had that shock vault, and it's twist, this book had to do something more to make it just as good and gripping.

This time it's darker, and shows us how giving the right tools and the right incentive you can get people to do just about anything. Even betray those that are closes to you. I have a feeling as this story moves towards to its epic conclusion, things are going to get much darker and bloodier.

I just have this feeling that, something isn't what it's seams and the Horsemen are going to get blindsided something fierce.

And that is where I'm going to end it. As I said this is a short read, and I don't want to give anything away. Just know that this series has my stamp of approval and my super high recommendation. It's hooks a planted deep in my reading soul and I can't wait to get my hands on the next book.

Happy Reading

a great read about change. Ryder has always been accused of things he hasn't done. When he is accused for another vandalism crime, he is sentenced to do community service in a library. But when intruders attacks him, a woman with white hair appears and he is dragged into a world he never knew existed that includes magic and the four horsemen of the apocalypse. As events escalate, will Ryder face the consequences or run in fear?
A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns that I just couldn't put down. Well developed characters like Ryder always in misfortune but still being hilarious or Gabrielle standing up for herself whilst struggling with her feelings. I loved the gender reversal with a female horsemen of the apocalypse and that even despite this, she still held authority and wasn't seen as inferior.
A great example of building on a fantasy world in the sequel with new kinds of magic and mystical creatures. i also loved the visual detail throughout the novel like the detail in the books or the simple settings of the library and police courts with small spaces against the large house and bedroom. Or the details in the pearls and chandeliers in the restaurant with a sense of beauty and danger which was perfectly written. The mix of realism with police courts and fantasy of magic and demigods worked brilliantly was written perfectly and blended as you followed Ryder's journey into it all with his humourous narrative . I also loved the reversal in the perspective of another horsemen. The use of different points of view worked well to illustrate both sides of the story and was easy to follow. Overall, a great read and I would give it five stars.

Drawing Strength From Words is the second of C.A. King’s Four Horsemen books, an urban fantasy series which follows the efforts of the Four Horsemen (or rather, Horsepeople) of the Apocalypse as they attempt to keep the gates of hell sealed.
Drawing Strength From Words focuses on Ryder, a young man who seems constantly to be getting in trouble for things he hasn’t done. The character is interesting – he is very loyal and generally seems to be resigned to whatever his fate seems to be at the time. He is willing to take blame and put himself in danger to protect others.
Of the Four Horsepeople, this is Gabrielle’s book. She excels in combat with a sword that turns itself into a snake, and finds herself drawn to Ryder. We see the other Horsemen at points in the book, as the overarching story begins to fall into place setting the stage for the remaining books.
I found the relationship between Dante and Mirabelle very uncomfortable, but I think it’s meant to be like that. Dante is a great villain – cold, cruel and manipulative.
The pacing was good for most of the book, but it felt rushed towards the end. This could have been because I was reading quickly, impatient to find out what happened next, but I think it did wrap up quite abruptly. That said, the ending was satisfying and left me looking forward to the next book.
Overall, this is a five star book for me. I enjoyed it, and once I got going I found it difficult to put down. I’d recommend it to fans of urban fantasy with roots in mythology. It’s got plenty of action and excitement, with a good story running through it.

Drawing Strength From Words (A Four Horsemen Novel Book 2) by C.A. King
5 out of 5 stars
Drawing Strength From Words is a Four Horsemen Novel Book 2 written by C.A. King and it’s not the first book that I have read by this author. Her writing is unique and realistic that I couldn’t put this book down that I read it in one sitting. This story is a paranormal thriller with a great mix of ancient myth and contemporary life with a chunk of humor, some fast-paced action and throw in some romance.
Gabrielle, receives little credit for protecting mankind. The vast insecurities of men altered history itself, portraying her as a masculine brute. Taking a back seat to her brothers seemed the right thing to do, but left a bitter taste in her mouth and an impenetrable barricade shielding her heart.
When Ryder’s parents were killed he bounced around the system. Between that and run-ins with the law for crimes he never committed, it seemed the whole world was conspiring against him. Melting through those frosty layers became all that mattered, even if that meant sacrificing himself in the process.
Can Ryder overcome Gabrielle’s securities or will she stay cold? Can these two have a happily ever after or will they have a bad ending?
I highly recommend this story…. You need to read this book/series to find out…..

Drawing Strength From Words is the second book in the Four Horsemen series. Although I would suggest reading the first book (because it was awesome), you can pick up Drawing Strength and read it as a standalone. The main story arch is not completed at the end of the book, but for me it felt like it ended in a good place to feel closure with Ryder and Gabrielle. I’m still going to read the next book because I want to find out how the main part turns out.

One of the things I really enjoy about this series thus far is the introduction of non-traditional powers to fight the enemy. I love the author’s re-telling of the creation myth and the creative alterations of the characters in it.

Ryder is life’s underdog. If there is someone who is made of bad luck, it’s him. There are only two people in the world who even care a little bit about him, his girlfriend and his attorney. Just when he thinks he’s reached the lowest rung of the ladder, he meets a woman who sets him on a new course with destiny.

Gabrielle and her brothers were left to guard the gates of hell. Unfortunately, life and legend have not been kind to Gabrielle and she’s constantly had to fight to prove her value. Her internal battles have left her withdrawn and out-of-touch with most of the advancement of the world. When she finally decides to venture out, she finds an unexpected ally from a world she has largely shunned.

Side note: I love Gabrielle’s weapon. I was thinking, “I want one of THOSE!”

Drawing Strength From Words by C.A. King is book two in the brilliant Four Horseman series. This is a well imagine and well written series. You do not have to read the books in order but trust me when I say you will want to read them all.
Gabrielle has pretty much one purpose and one purpose only; protect mankind by ensuring the gates to Hell stay shut. Does she get any credit for doing so? None whatsoever. In fact to make matters even worse time has skewed mankind’s perception of how Gabrielle herself is. She is no longer the woman she is today, instead she is portrayed as just another man like her brothers.
She has gotten used to taking a backseat to them as well, although she does so begrudgingly. And so she plods on, nothing ever changing, and slowly but surely Gabrielle seals off her heart. That is until she meets Ryder. He seems just as broken and guarded as she is. But that doesn’t mean she has to relent. She can still stay aloof and distant. Or can she?
This series is absolutely fantastic. I loved book one as the story was so interesting but book two is even better. It is such a famous story that of the four horsemen, and one that I never expected to see in a different light. And yet that is exactly what the author does. She takes a tale that is well visited and has created an entirely new version. Well crafted and interesting, this book is definitely worth the read!

Ryder is once again stood in front of a judge for a crime he did not commit. However, with his chequered past, when thrown, mud tended to stick. His latest brush with the law meant he had to do community service in a library. It was then that he found an ancient book, after that, things started to get… Interesting.
I am a massive fan of C.A. King, and I could not wait to get my hands on the second book in the Horsemen series. I am pleased to say that Drawing Strength From Words (A Four Horsemen Novel Book 2) did not disappoint. Packed with non-stop action, with well-drawn characters and a superb plot, I could not put this book down. In fact, I read it in one sitting.
Ryder had a rough time growing up and is always in trouble with the law, but at the same time he came across as a very moral person. He takes the blame for things he had not done to save a friend. A very admirable quality. Gabrielle was simply brilliant. She is a woman who lives in very much a man's world, but she is strong and brave and loyal. She is a no-nonsense heroine, who has a really cool weapon. I liked her.
If you are looking for a book filled with action, with likeable characters and a sinister antagonist, then this is the series for you.
I Highly Recommend.

Drawing Strength From Words is the second novel in the Four Horsemen series by C. A. King. This is my third novel by this author.

Being one of the Horseman is a thankless job for Gabrielle especially when she is portrayed as some sort of brute in history. Begrudgingly she takes a back seat to her brothers, causing her heart to have a shield around it.

Ryder has been moving since his parents were killed, putting through the systems and on the side of the law for crimes he did not do. While he has never felt an attraction to someone before, becomes of the life he leads, that changes when he is thrown in the path of a mysterious beauty.

I wasn’t sure what to make of this novel because it had been a while since I read this series and was a little confused. But the plot pulled me in really quick.

Ryder was an interesting character with a background and history I wasn’t sure how I would be if I was in his shoes. Gabrielle was a strong and fierce woman. I would think she would be considering she has so many brothers. The dynamics and bitterness she had held creating even more of a suspenseful air about her. Wanting to know more about her.

I really enjoyed this story and I am looking forward to the next book. I wonder whose story are we going to read about next.

Drawing Strength From Words by C.A. King is the second book in her Four Horsemen series. Finally, it is here! I read the first story and I could not wait for the second one! It is a remarkable paranormal series where it seems that it somehow becomes better with each book (like wine …). If you love mythology then absolutely this series is for you – I am sure you have heard the legend of the four horsemen before and let me tell you, the writer has put an interesting spin on it!
Drawing Strength from Words is the story of Gabrielle and Ryder. Gabrielle is the second horseman and surprise surprise the second horseman really is … a woman! And what a woman she is – independent, powerful, resourceful, confident … and oh so lovable! Ryder, he is a perfect match for her – he is as closed as her but there is bond there and it keeps growing and … yeah, the writer is taking us on one heck of a ride, no pun intended.
It is a beautiful story that mixes the ancient myth and contemporary life and love … what else do you need? Cannot wait for the third story, I wonder what that horseman will tell us …

Drawing Strength From Words (A Four Horsemen Novel Book 2) by C.A. King

4 Stars

This is my 3rd book by this author and I did enjoy it as I've already become invested in this series. I didn't enjoy it quite as much as I did the first but in saying that I did love the characters in this story. Gabrielle was awesome and I love that she is part of the Four horsemen. I liked Ryder and hated where he found himself in life. I just never connected with the two of them together. I don't know why, it was weird it just didn't click for me, its strange when you absolutely love the two mains but just cant love them together.

I will say though that the writing style was still on point for me and the ongoing story is being played out perfectly. I thought the subtle twists and turns were awesome. I can not wait for the next one, and look forward to the next two getting their stories. I loved checking back in with our 1st book couple and that is why I would definitely read these in order. There is a story playing out and I can't wait to see where it is going.

I give Drawing Strength From Words (A Four Horsemen Novel Book 2) by C.A. King, 5 stars.
*This review may contain spoilers from book one.*

This is the story of Gabrielle, the only female of the four horsemen. She has always felt like she had something to prove among her brothers. This has led her to a very lonely life. Then she met Ryder. He always seems to somehow get in trouble, mostly when it wasn't his fault. What is his life worth anyway? Then he meets this warrior woman he cannot keep his eyes off of. Maybe she is his destiny?

This book, like the first, is incredible. I have been wanting to read about Gabrielle and couldn't wait to get my hands on this book. The story is great, not only about Gabrielle and Ryder, but the adventure of trying to stop the evil threatening them and everyone else. It is beautiful written, but I would have loved for it to be a little longer, go into more detail. I still enjoyed it very much and cannot wait to see where the series will take us next.

If you like romance with adventure and supernatural creatures, this book is for you.

“Drawing Strength From Words” is the second novella in the Four Horsemen series by C.A. King. In this novella we meet the troubled Ryder as he is sentenced to a year- long community service project at the local library for an act of vandalism. His sentence doesn’t turn out to be an ordinary one as mysterious things crop up from the start. Thankfully, Gabrielle is there to help him in his time of need and explain why Ryder is so special. Make sure you read “Flower Shields” before you read this novella so you know what is going on. Characters carry over from each previous book so don’t get confused, just read them in order! I really like the world that C.A. King is building with these novellas. I love the twist on the old tale of the four horsemen and the mystery surrounding the “keys.” I devoured this novella in no time at all and can’t wait to see what happens next in “Hitting the High Note!” C.A King is one of those authors that I love everything I read by her! The stories are always fascinating and keep me captivated! I give five stars!!

5 Stars!!!!!

OH My Gosh!!! This book was so worth the wait. This is the second book in the Four Horsemen Series and I have to say that It was so worth the wait to read. I enjoyed this book just as much as I did the first. This book definitely is a good transition from the first.

It was good to see how the only female horseman finds her way not only out into the world a bit
but how she finds love. The way in which Ryder enters the story and how things progress was very
unique and I couldn't put the book down. I was glued to the pages. I liked the chemistry between
Gabrielle is electric. I also found the way in which the author brought the drama in to be quite
good. Dante is definitely going to cause quite the disturbances to come. I quite look forward to
reading more from this author and Series. I am quite captivated and am anxious to see how the story
will progress and how it will all end.

Drawing Strength From Words by C.A. King
Four Stars

Drawing Strength From Words is the second book in A Four Horsemen series by C.A. King. This book could be read as a stand alone, but I highly recommend you read this series in order because of the background details you get on the four siblings. This is my eighth book I have read by Ms. King, and they keep getting better and better. I love the way the concept of good versus evil is used in this series. The world building and characters are very detailed and interesting. This book had me hooked from the very first page. It is full of twists and turns that had me wondering what would happen next. Gabrielle is a feisty, strong woman, and Ryder is trying to find his way in a life that has been hard for him since he was a young boy. The strength and chemistry that grows between them, gives the story a great direction. This is a great book and I look forward to seeing what Ms.King has in store for us in the next installment.

Drawing Strength From Words (A Four Horsemen Novel book 2)
By C A King
5 stars
After loving book 1 in the series I was really looking forward to reading the next book in the series and reading Gabrielle’s story. Again I wasn’t disappointed; the story was full of action and excitement. It was excellently written and it had me hooked form beginning to end. The mystery and suspense of what was happening in the story kept my interest and made me want to keep reading long after I had finished.
I really liked the characters of Gabrielle and Ryder they were both relatable and likeable characters.
Although this book is on the shorter side it was still full of action and the plot for the story developed well. It can be read as a standalone as it focuses on a different main character however I loved book 1 too so would highly recommend reading that one as well.
A great read with a strong and exciting plot! I can’t wait for book 3!!

Drawing Strength From Words is the second Four Horsemen novel. Ryder is a down-on-his-luck fellow with far too much experience in the court system, generally accepting the rap to shield a friend. His life seems to be steadily progressing downhill – until he meets one of the Four Horsemen. Or in this case, the one who’s a horsewoman. The name isn’t Gabriel, it’s Gabrielle. Doesn’t matter; she’s just as tough as her brothers, Maybe a bit more so, if she has to prove it.

There’s the question of why a piece of paper that neither Gabrielle nor her brother Michael can make heads or tails of is perfectly understandable to Ryder – and why the words he reads on it are words of power. Dante probably knows, but he’s certainly not going to tell. Once he’s got both Ryder and Gabrielle imprisoned deep in an abandoned mine he’s turned into a hideout, with Gabi shackled in unbreakable restraints, he’s certainly not going to.

What happens next? Wait until we get into the next book.

Drawing Strength From Words by C.A.King is the second book in the Four Horsemen Novel. This is a continuation of the first book so I highly recommending that one before this book. They are both fairly short reads. This focuses on the story of Ryder and Gabrielle. I like Gabrielle because she is a strong character who has developed a wall that is hard to break. Ryder has had a tough life and he sets his sights on Gabrielle. I enjoyed this story because it draws on characters from lore and history and brings them to the current day. The story is fast paced and kept me on my toes. I liked that there are some twists to the story and have a feeling that will only grow as the series continues. I do not want to tell too much because that might spoil it for someone else. I recommend this book and the series.

Drawing Strength From Words: A Four Horsemen Novel by C. A. King is a five star novel. I fell in love with this author when I read a different series of hers. I am so thankful I decided to pick up this series next! This is book two in the Four Horsemen series. I think it is imperative to read the first novel before reading this one because it gives so much more to the story than what we get just from this one. These novels are so action packed and information rich that I was able to read in one sitting. This is saying s lot for me because I do read slowly even though I love to read. We are first introduced to the Four Horsemen in the first book, Flower Shields, and find out they are siblings, and not all male. This book brings focus to Gabby and what she can bring to the table to defeat the devils that appear. I highly recommend this book.

Drawing Strength From Words-C.A. King

5-star review

Drawing Strength from Words by C.A. King is another must read! This is the second book in the Four Horsemen series, though it could be read as a standalone with all of the incredible detail and backstory I would suggest reading this series from the beginning in order to get the full picture. This was another fast read for me as I couldn’t bring myself to put it down, this storyline is so captivating that I got so swept up in the story!

I have never read a book from this author that I didn’t love and this one was no different. It’s action-packed, surprising, intriguing and so full of detail. I love how this storyline keeps me sitting on the edge of my seat wondering what’s going to happen next. I look forward to reading book 3! This is a book and series I would recommend to anyone looking for their next read!

Drawing Strength from Words by C.A King
Stars: 4

From the beginning to the end, this story is completely action packed! I loved Gabrielle (Gabby) and Ryder. Gabby is kicks butt and takes names kinda girl who doesn't go out much in the world. She is competitive and fierce. I loved the bar scene. Ryder is down on his luck, and, often, he is at wrong place wrong time. He is loyal, caring, and willing to admit his weaknesses. I loved the action in this book, but I do wish more time was spent build Gabby’s and Ryder’s connection.

This is book two in the Four Horsemen series. This story recaps the background information at the beginning. I feel that this book builds onto book 1 very nicely. We briefly get to see Michael and Tara from book 1. I enjoyed that little peek of them. I can't wait to read the other two brothers’ stories!!

Drawing Strength from Words, Book 2 in the Four Horsemen Series by C.A King
4 out of 5 stars
This book had some serious action in it. This book is a shorter book, not what I would call a novella, having said that it is not so fast paced that you cannot keep up with the story, nor do you feel that you are overwhelmed by all that is happening in the book. Please do yourself a favor and read book. There is a bit more of a sinister plot and a bit more bloodshed than the typical books that I read, but not outside of my comfort zone. Gabrielle and Ryder are two fabulous characters who are both well written, strong, and willful. I love when an author can create and write two halves of a whole and the characters just seem to melt into each other. C.A King is a fantastic author and I would recommend this book for those who love a good thrilling paranormal story.
