Rascals #2

Wingman

Rate this book
Chase McKenna is the hottest bartender in the city… and he knows it. Sexy, charming, and abs for days? It’s no wonder every girl who walks through the doors is panting for him.

Except me.

I’m stuck crushing on my perfect boss, who has zero idea I’m even alive. I need a plan to catch his attention… and who better to teach me the tricks of seduction than Mr. Panty—Dropper himself?

The rules are simple: no strings, no stress, and definitely no feelings. But it turns out, Chase is way more than I bargained for, and as for the sparks flying between us…?

You can’t teach chemistry like this.

Soon, we’re throwing our lesson plan out the window — and our clothes right after it. We’re breaking all the rules, and my heart’s on the line, but now I’m wondering…

Must all good flings come to an end?

Couldn’t connect with the main characters. Heroine has been crushing on her boss for 4 years. He dates models, not her type. (She seems to compare herself to other women a lot. At least 3 different times by page 2 of the second chapter.) It’s hard to have respect for someone who’s hung up on a person who isn’t interested for 4 freaking years. Way past time to move on. Hero though is a manwhore. Takes home different girl each night. No thanks. Have read that enough times before, and it's still unattractive.

Well 💀🤡 this was uh 🤡💀 definitely different than I remembered.

The 4 years' worth of pining from the heroine to her boss that wasn't the MC tested my patience 💀and the third act conflict made me question my sanity. 💕

A swoony and steamy friends-to-lovers romance!

Wingman has everything you’ve come to love from Katie McCoy’s romance! Laughter, sizzling chemistry, and a sexy love story!

The characters’ interaction with each other was energetic and full of combustible attraction. Their lighthearted friendship easily transitioned to a red-hot friends-with-benefits relationship that scorched the pages of the book. Although Kelsey was very relatable with her realistic qualities of insecurity and self-doubt, the real scene stealer, in my opinion, was Chase. His laid-back approach and irresistible charm was perfect and quite endearing to read. And despite him being labeled a playboy, it was his compassion, thoughtfulness, and honesty that showcased his true qualities as a deeply caring, lovable, and passionate man.

How far is Chase willing to go to help Kelsey land “the man of her dreams”? Can they go back to being just friends once that invisible line has been crossed? And will Chase and Kelsey realize the person they’re meant to be with was right in front of them all along?

A fun, entertaining, and enticing summer read, Wingman is sure to leave a smile on your face and a desperate need for the next book in the series! I can’t wait for more!

4.5 Stars!

-Kacie, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was a great book, but relatively quick. Chase and Kelsey are so good together. Kelsey is in love with her boss who only seems to notice her as a pal. She enlists the help of her friend, Chase, who is bartender/owner of Rascals and he has no interest in relationships at all. Him giving her lessons turns into a friends with benefits type thing, which we all know never really works out well.

I found Kelsey so relatable. She’s smart, funny, and a little awkward. She is happy with her body despite her mother and her warped sense of beauty. There are so many women out there that are like Kelsey, beautiful but they don’t think/know they are. I absolutely hated Kelsey’s mother for her body shaming. And not only that, she’s a terrible mother for not acting knowing her daughters occupation. Kelsey’s sister, Lauren, isn’t mentioned much but I didn’t have a very high opinion of her for not standing up for her sister.

I adored Chase for the sheer fact that he stood up to Kelsey’s mother for her. He recognized that she was exhausted one night when they had plans and canceled so they could relax and unwind together. It’s all about the little things and Chase had it in spades!

I liked seeing the other owners of Rascals mentioned and I’m eager to read their stories, especially Hailey and Dante.

4 stars!

The Rascals are back with Chase’s story, Wingman. As the hottest new bartender in town, Chase has no problem getting a girl, especially when they all seem to want a piece of him. All but one girl, that is. A girl who happens to be pining over her boss.

Kelsey has been in love with her boss for four years but he doesn’t see her as more than an employee. Doing something drastic seems to be the only way that she can get his attention and she decides that Chase can help her out. He knows what men find sexy and she is sure that he can show her what she needs to do to be noticed by her boss. Just as things seem to be on track with lessons going well, feelings get in the way and all the rules get thrown out the window.

Wingman is a lighthearted read with loveable characters and an entertaining plot. Kelsey is fun, sweet, and clueless when it comes to really seeing herself. She lacks confidence but Chase is exactly the man to prove how sexy she is. She already has everything she needs and I loved seeing her realize it. I would have liked Kelsey to stand up for herself sooner than she did but I enjoyed watching her grow throughout the story. I really loved that by the end, she puts her foot down and says enough is enough.

I loved Chase. He is such a good guy. He was hurt in the past and I felt his struggle as he tries to forget the pain. It changed the way he sees relationships and he just needed someone to prove that he could find love again. I was so glad that Kelsey was the one to make him see things differently.

Kelsey and Chase are great together. The banter is entertaining, their attraction is undeniable, and the buildup is delicious as they spend more time together. They are a perfect mix of sweet and sexy and have no problem steaming up the pages.

I loved watching their feelings grow and realizing what they truly wanted. They put their trust in each other and though they aren't too quick to reveal their true feelings, they acknowledge them within themselves. Even with a few hiccups on the way, there isn't too much back and forth and the angst is kept at a minimum, making this an enjoyable, lighthearted summer read.

I have to give a shout out to the other members of the  Rascals  series. I really loved seeing Emerson and Alex again and getting to know the other guys a little better. They are all great friends who support each other unconditionally and have interesting personalities and share hilarious interactions. I definitely look forward to continuing this series!!

Wingman, book #2 in the Rascals series, is Chase and Kelsey's story and my favourite so far. It was a fun, flirty, awkwardly funny, sweet and steamy romance read!

Kelsey has had a four year crush on her boss and all she wants is for him to see her! She feel's she is hopeless and not confident enough in making her boss take notice. Throw in her self confidence with feeling like she's a larger girl than he goes for. She decides to enlist the help of Chase, she see's that flirting is natural for him and she needs his help!

Chase makes no bones about who and what he's about. He's a natural flirt and with his position within the bar he's never short of female company! But when Kelsey propositions him he's about to get a whole lot more than he ever expected!!!

Chase and Kelsey were just perfect together they bounced of each other with an ease that was so natural and real. The flirting tests were so funny and awkward giving us fabulous chemistry.

Looking forward to seeing where Liam's story goes. As he comes across as quite a straight laced character. But there's no denying Rascal's is the place to be!!

I loved getting to know Chase and Kelsey better! This was a spin on the usual “teach me how to be better in bed” with Kelsey wanting Chase to teach her how to be sexy enough to snag her boss who she’s had a crush on for four years. Kelsey is awkward with men and has some insecurities, which usually drive me crazy, but when we meet her mom it all makes sense. Chase has sworn off relationships after getting his heart broken. What will he do if Kelsey actually does get her boss to notice her? 🤔 Can’t wait to get to know this group of friends even better! On to the next one!

Urban Dictionary defines a ‘wingman’ as ‘a guy you bring along with you on singles
outings (like to bars) that helps you out with the women.’ The wingman has his friend’s back and does what he can to allow his friend to ‘get the girl’ he wants, even if it means that the wingman loses out on the ‘one.’

In Katie McCoy’s newest release, WingMan, she crafts her own defining characteristics and uses Chase McKenna, Mr. Panty-Dropper himself, to teach Kelsey the art (tricks) of seduction…to be her wingman, in a way, that allows her to understand how she needs to act and what she needs to say in order to make her boss, the man she’s had a crush on for the past four years, to see her as an attractive woman…as someone he would consider spending time with outside of their place of business.

So, while Chase isn’t Kelsey’s typical ‘wingman,’ he quickly becomes essential to Kelsey’s life, in ways she never even considered, which makes Chase’s tutorials become more about them educating one another on each other’s likes and dislikes when it comes to sex, intimacy, and emotional investment. It’s almost as if the student becomes the teacher because Chase’s playboy ways never prepared him for what he feels for Kelsey and what he’ll have to do once Kelsey’s lessons are over and she finally gets what she’s always wanted - another man.

McCoy constructs a realistic heroine in Kelsey. She’s relatable to readers because anyone could be experiencing Kelsey’s insecurities. Kelsey’s nervous ramblings show a woman who doesn’t quite know how to act around guys she’s attracted to and by placing Kelsey in Chase’s very capable hands, she’s able to learn a valuable lesson - one that all women should learn and that’s that they’re enough…they’re beautiful, and man does Chase do a fantastic job of helping Kelsey to realize her own self-worth.

At first, Chase appears to be the stereotypical manwhore - a playful bartender who never finds himself lacking female attention, and while some readers might be turned off due to Chase’s abundant extra-curricular activities, there’s more to him than his ability to get laid and that’s what McCoy allows readers to see as Chase works with Kelsey…as he proves to her just how amazing she is, and it’s his actions with Kelsey and witnessing the reality of who Chase is beneath the playboy facade that will endear him to readers.

Chase and Kelsey’s story is a humorous and steamy romantic comedy that illustrates how essential it is for a person to feel confident and beautiful when it comes to attracting the opposite sex. Part of the reason that Kelsey’s boss has never truly seen her is because of the quirks she’s developed over the years due to a lack of self confidence and her mother’s degrading comments. Chase makes Kelsey see herself for who she really is and it’s because of Chase’s care and compassion that she finally feels ‘enough’ not just for someone of the opposite sex but more importantly for herself.

Kelsey has been in love with her boss for years….he’s gorgeous, British, charming and funny but he doesn’t know Kelsey exists. So she turns to the cocky, pantry dropper bartender, confident and drop dead sexy Chace, for help. She’s determined Chace can teach her to be sexy and finally grab her boss’s attention and with firm rules in place it should be easy right? Wrong, neither of them could have predicted the sparks between them were about to turn into a full blown fire of sexual chemistry and attraction.

“No words had ever sounded so good to me. I’d never had a man look at me the way that Chase was, hot and intense, and that look from him gave me the power and confidence I had always wanted.”

I found Kelsey really relatable- you could tell she was a kind, sweet, funny woman who was beautiful but just couldn’t see it herself. We are all guilty of not believing we are sexy or dating material and her attitude towards it was so relatable. Despite lacking confidence she still had this bright energy and kindness that made her likeable.

“I swallowed back my heartache. Whatever had happened between Chase and me had been intended as fun. And now it wasn’t fun anymore. Now it just plain hurt.”

I LOVED Chace, yes he was sexy and knew it and yes he was a bit of player in the beginning but from the very beginning he has known Kelsey was beautiful and gorgeous and didn’t need to change anything about herself and the fact he thinks Justin is an idiot for not thinking the same thing literally made my heart sigh…so true and so refreshing. He was funny and sexy and a great friend and it was so much fun reading about these two coming together and realising that they are actually the perfect match!

“You showed me what it means to be confident—how it feels to be sexy. You made me feel desired and attractive and funny and interesting. You’re my friend, but what I feel for you is so much more. You saw me for all my messiness and weirdness and you still accepted me.”

This was a classic feel good rom-com so if you want an easy read and something that will make you laugh and smile then this is the perfect read for you. For me, it didn’t have enough drama in it and it was a little predictable. I loved the characters and wanted to see them get their HEA so I definitely wanted to keep reading to see them battle through their confusing feelings and annoying ex’s but I was also looking for something a little edgier, a bit more dramatic to take it from just a feel good read to a read that had something different about it. I did enjoy this story though; I especially loved the laughter and the background characters that were also so likeable. So overall- a great story for those looking for an easy rom-com read with characters you will easily like and connect with!

Five big stars for this one!

First of all, I have to say how happy and excited I was when I found out Chase was getting a story, and boy oh boy with no else but Kelsey. I've been shipping them since book one, a story about Emerson and Alex (Hint, hint: go read that now).

When  I started reading it, I knew I was going to love it. This one is the epitome of a friend/friends with benefits/did you really think no one would develop feelings for the other one?, I mean, sparks fly between them at every time and while turning the pages it was impossible not to feel the passion and the intensity of the chemistry they share.

I loved getting to know Chase and Kelsey on a deeper level. She is such a realistic character. It's easy to relate to her insecurities and fears, and also, she is a really fun girl. And Chase? He is SO much more than his playboy title. There is no doubt he is the charmer of the charmers, but he's also passionate, thoughtful and sweet. These two are a perfect match and with every bit of their story my heart started beating faster and faster. I loved how easy things flow between them because of their arrengement, but also how through it all, occurs a slow burn that soon will make it's presence known.

Funny, swoon worthy and really sweet.

Wingman is book two in the Rascals series and about Chase and Kelsey.

You’re introduced to these two in Rascals and I have to say that they were both such intriguing characters that I was excited to get my hands on Wingman as soon as possible.

Kelsey has been in love with her boss for four years but he hasn’t even noticed her. Getting fed up with being overlooked she knows now is the time to make her move and asks Chase to help her.

Chase is a complete man-w. He takes home a different woman every night and pockets every number that he receives. Running the bar that he and his friends brought brings out the best in Chase. He is charismatic, funny and yet has a deeper side that he hides.

These two made me laugh, smile and route for them. Seeing (well reading) their relationship develop was great. Although this book was fast-paced, it didn’t linger too long and I felt like I could just sit back and enjoy.

Cannot wait for the next book!

Wingman was such a hot, sexy story about five guys owning a bar called Rascals. This story made me feel giddy and content, like the after glow of an orgasmic high. It’s everything you expect from a romance novel.

Chase and Kelsey are just perfect together. They are funny and very easy going and their chemistry is very steamy and hot. Kelsey however made me laugh the most with her nervous chatter when she was around Chase. Their attraction was definitely very mutual even though their lives are about to change due to a pact they made together.

Past memories and future longings are holding these two friends at ransom. Choices of taking chances and sometimes going for what you think is a risk can reap the best rewards and this is where the story gets very interesting.

I definitely recommend this beautifully written story. The characters are just a bunch of friends that work well together even though all personalities are different.

Chase and Kelsey are fun,

This entire book is fun, flirty and full of scorching hot chemistry. And, really, what more can you want? Well, in this case, Kelsey wants her boss. Or so she thinks. And, Chase wants her, but he is trying to be good and not act on the attraction he feels for her. Until Kelsey asks him to teach her how to be attractive, how to flirt, and how to catch the attention of the boss who barely even knows she exists as a woman...already, we can see that this is going to get messy...and that's exactly what happens.

Which works out quite well for the reader, as witnessing them try to figure out their attraction, and what to do with it, makes for a great and quick read.

Katie McCoy's books usually have a few laugh out loud moments, some scorching chemistry, and characters that you enjoy and laugh with...and at. This title doesn't disappoint and I recommend it.

The only word that comes to mind is PERFECT . Perfect in every way possible: I loved Kelsey and her funny ramblings when she got nervous. She was all sorts of awkward but holy crap she was hilarious while doing it. I loved her personality all fun and bubbly. I hated HATED her mother. As for Chase; for a guy who only wanted to help her without getting attached he sure made a lot of BF moves I would say. And I loved each and every one of them. I loved seeing how she slowly began believing what he was saying and owning it.

This story is a quick, hilarious and steamy read. Like said - PERFECTION 💚

OMGEEEZ! This book is why I read romance. Light hearted, funny, entertaining and crazy romance. Friends to lovers is my absolute favorite trope, but throw some how-to-be-sexy lessons in there and I’m done for!!! Hook, line and sinker, I fell HARD for Chase and Kelsey 💜

All swooning aside, Kelsey is your typical chick with some self esteem issues. She’s smart, witty and super relate-able. Trying to get her boss interested in her, she asks hot bartender, Chase, for some come hither lessons. Turn up the hotness factor in this one peeps 🔥🔥 Chase is smoking hawtness. My kindle was lighting UP.

Chase is incredibly charming while increasing Kelsey’s confidence with his lessons. Underneath each lesson, their chemistry is simmering until it reaches next level. Then there’s no going back, and I couldn’t read Wingman fast enough.

Every page is soooo entertaining, while the writing is effortless. The story flows like a delicious rom-com movie! I loved every page 💜 Wingman is definitely a summer MUST READ! Get read to get your swoon on for Chase and Kelsey!

I love Katie McCoy books! They're hot and funny and sweet and a good read! Plus this Rascals bar and the owners who run it are pretty funny to read about. Their interactions are funny and familial.

Now normally when 2 people of the opposite sex make a deal for 1 to help the other, you know what's going to happen. And while yes, Kelsey and Chase did end up together, their path to get there wasn't like another couples'.

I did feel for poor Kelsey and having to crush on someone who sees her as non-existent. That's never fun for anyone and it makes you love Kelsey. And you love Chase for helping her out and getting her confidence in place.

2.5/5🌟

Chase and Kelsey !!
Kelsey has been pinning after her hot British boss for it seems like ever, although he hasn't seem to notice her. She needs help , she needs to learn how to play the game ! Who better to help her play than a cocky hot bartender who is a player in his own right.
When she enlists the help of Chase she has no idea what she is getting herself into!
This is sexy, funny and so entertaining !!!!

Wingman, book #2 in the Rascals series, was one fun book!

Kelsey is looking to get her boss to see her in a different light and Chase is just the guy to help her out. I mean, come on, Chase is sex on a stick! But how is Chase supposed to help Kelsey get the guy...when he’s attracted to her as well?

I really enjoyed Wingman! Kelsey was totally awkward around guys, except for Chase in which case she was totally hilarious! Chase is not looking for a commitment, so helping Kelsey works out perfectly for him. Except for the fact that he finds her unbelievably sexy, funny, caring...all the things he’s looking for in a woman.

Kelsey and Chase were a perfect match for each other, they just don’t know it yet. They flirt, they have fun together, and when they finally get to the sexy times..WHOA! Katie McCoy knows how to write one hell of a sexy guy ;)

The Rascals Series by Katie McCoy continues with Wingman. In this second installment, readers get Chase McKenna’s story.

Chase McKenna is tutor and “wingman” to Kelsey, whom readers met in book one, Rascals. She is Alex’s best friend and the PR savant who helped the guys launch their pub. Kelsey has image issues and mommy issues that make her less confident in the romance department. Chase is the total opposite. While he is guarded and nursing a long-time broken heart, but he is confident about his good looks and sex appeal.

Kelsey’s boss and crush, Justin, provides some of the story tension and angst. Justin is a gorgeous Brit who barely acknowledges Kelsey’s existence until Chase starts coaching her on the fine art of flirting. Kelsey’s mother, is presented as a stereotypical hag. It was overplayed, and personally, I’m getting tired of the hateful mother as the source of all problems in contemporary romances.

As Chase presents “learning opportunities” to Kelsey he finds her more interesting and irresistible. While he has a reputation as a womanizer, he is really thoughtful and chivalrous. He just keeps relationships short and shallow to avoid heartbreak. I really enjoyed the friends-to-lovers romance as well as the secondary story line of both Chase and Kelsey’s career aspirations and successes.

This series is so much fun, and the characters are great. I love the five friends who opened Rascals, the neighborhood bar, and I am looking forward to each of their upcoming stories.
