WHEN IS THE THIRD DREAMDARK BOOK COMING OUT?

Though I have every intention of returning to complete the Dreamdark series, it is not now on the slate, for which I am very very sorry! I promise you I do not abandon Magpie and crew lightly, and dearly look forward to reuniting with them in the future.

Hi! I write fantasy books. My latest is STRANGE THE DREAMER, about a young librarian, a mythic lost city, and the half-human children of murdered gods. Check it out :-) Before that I wrote the DAUGHTER OF SMOKE & BONE trilogy, which has been translated into 32 languages. It's about a blue-haired art student raised by monsters, a broken angel, and a war that has raged for 1000 years in another world. I also wrote LIPS TOUCH: THREE TIMES, which was a National Book Award finalist, and the DREAMDARK books. As well as various short stories and novellas.

These books meant literally everything to me as a kid, I had never found a book whose main haracter I actually related to before in that she was a tomboy with a thirst for adventure and no time for boys but she was never mean, just wild. I really hope one day I'll be able to read the third book

I love both these books and would be so amazed if she came out with a third book. I can sit here and read these 2 books over and over again. Amazing work

Dear Laini Taylor,

I know you don't know me, but I am a reader and even a writer. It's possible that you may never see this message, but I wanted to write to you to tell you what your books mean to me.

I read your first book Blackbringer many, many years ago, back when I was in middle school. That was well over a decade ago for me, but I remember enjoying it quite fondly. From the brave heroics of Magpie to action and adventure of fighting against great evil, I loved it.

For the longest time, I didn't even know there was a sequel. Until earlier this year.

It was just another visit to a local library not far from my dad's house, and I found it on the shelves in the teen section and I knew that I had to read it. So I did. I read it piece by piece, at home, at my grandmother's home, even at work during my employee breaks. And despite the overabundance of characters, I enjoyed it even more than the first book. I even used it to fill a slot in my annual reading challenge bingo card I got from a local bookstore.

About three months have passed since I finished the second book Silksinger, and I am eagerly awaiting the third and presumably final installment in this series. Admittedly, I should have written this sooner. Perhaps when I first finished reading the second book. But it would mean a lot to me, to many readers truthfully, if you finished this series. I know it's been a long time, well over a decade since the second book of The Guardians of Dreamdark series was published (arguably closer to two decades by this point), but I still have faith in you. You kept the love of fantasy books alive for many readers, and we have not forgotten you. I don't know why the third book was never published, but if you're able to write and put your best foot forward, I hope you give Magpie and her friends' stories the conclusion we've all been waiting for.

I've read both of the Dreamdark books and am waiting for the third. I enjoyed them very much and have passed them on to a tween reader.
