Angela left her parents’ lavender farm with dreams of becoming a professional dog trainer. Getting kidnapped by slavers from outer space was not part of the plan.
Fortunately, Angela and a few dozen other women were rescued by Star Guardians. She isn’t quite sure how she's going to get back to Earth, but these Star Guardians aren’t looking too shabby, especially a hunky one named Treyjon. He trains svenkars, four-hundred-pound predators that make pit bulls look like squeak toys. Angela is curious about the animals--and about him. The problem? He doesn’t seem to know she exists.
For Treyjon, the women staying as guests aboard the Star Guardian ship are off limits. The captain has made that clear, so he hasn’t allowed himself to admire their feminine assets. But when one of them shows an interest in the powerful predators he trains, animals that scare most women out of the room, he’s intrigued. When she proves a knack for working with one of the creatures, he’s more than intrigued. He starts wondering how he’s ever going to let her go home.
The Star Guardians Series Book 1.0: Orion Book 2.0: Treyjon Book 3.0: Sagitta Book 3.5: Mikolos Book 4.0: Hierax Book 5.0: Zakota Book 6.0: Ariston
Narrator: Vivienne Leheny Length: 5 hrs and 41 mins
This picks up right after book 1 with two different viewpoints. I appreciated both of the main characters. There is attraction, action, danger, and sexy times. I'm eager for the next one and the continuing adventure!
The second book in the Star Guardians series by Ruby Lionsdrake. Treyjon is a Star Guardian on Falcon 8 and trains huge svenkars. Angela is one of the women kidnapped by slavers and rescued by the Star Guardians. Angela takes an interest in the svenkars and an even deeper interest in Treyjon.
I think I liked The Mandrake Company series just a bit more but this series is good. Although, the book ends with the romance element pretty much wrapped up the story continues on to the next book. Not a true cliffhanger but the story is not completely finished.
Getting kidnapped and waking up in a strange place is bad, but it's even worse when you are in the hands of Aliens. But then you end up in the hands of humans who do not even live in your galaxy; things get interesting. If you long for something and have found it in space, are you willing to give it up.
Treyjon is the second intriguing book in the Star Guardians series.
There is plenty of action, danger, and violence. It is also sexy, has chemistry, and humour.
Got a few hours spare, then grab a book and get stuck in.
I enjoyed this fairly well. Enough to immediately purchase the next installment and despite not finishing the first in the series. Free on kindle UL. I appreciate the level of action and the sexy scenes were very well written.
This picks up where the first book left off. In book one, aliens have found (accidentally from the sound of it) Earth (Gaia). Bad thing is, these aliens were slavers who kidnapped humans, aliens and sell them. There is an alien race called the Zi'i that love the taste of human flesh, and these slavers assist them with procuring their preference of meat. Enter the Star Guardians. They are the intergalactic police force. They rescue and arrest the kidnappers. The first book was Orion (a bounty hunter working with the SG) and Juanita (one of the women). This book is Angela (she worked at an animal shelter with dreams of becoming a dog trainer & had an unconventional upbringing) and Treyjon's (a SG whose speciality of training svenkars; think dog-like, but bigger and more lethal) story. The storyline progresses. There is an issue with returning to Earth. Some in the coalition do not want to make their presence known. There is also worry of other groups taking advantage of Earth's resources (in this case, the people). Doesn't end in a cliffhanger per say, but does set up the next book which will be Tala (a doctor, turned animal volunteer) Sagitta (Sage) the Star Guardian captain.
This was good, but not as good as the first. I didn't get a few things. Why did they not try to let the women speak for their planet? That would seem to be protocol for a newly discovered planet. Like Ambassadors. What happened to the corps Svengars? Just be put down I guess. For two people who claim to care so much for the creatures, they didn't even mention their fate. Much less care for what would happen to the ones under their care and bonded to them no less. When they just leave to stay on earth, they would be deserting them with no one to care for them. Plus taking these guys to their planet with no ID. Can you say government detention? No reality show for them. That sounds like something a stupid teenager would think of. No mature woman who cared about her guy. Sure, she just has to get back to a family that didn't understand her or encourage her in her dreams. I get wanting to tell them you are fine and not to worry, but choosing to live there instead of where they would all obviously be more happy just seems like again something a selfish teenager would consider. Not a single thought to the svengars or what would happen to them. A real trainer would take more responsibility for their care and well-being. Same for the abused ones on that ship. I also don't understand a captain that would ruin his career and endanger everyone on board with the decision he made. I would think the women could have refused to leave the ship. Refused to let them be treated like prisoners and demanded a meeting with the government. Just a little brainstorming could have resulted in so many other things to try before this one that seems like the worst possible choice for them all.
The tracker and the free spirit. Yes! I liked Treyjon in book 1 and I'm happy to see him getting to spend some quality time with one of the abductees. Given that the captain had warned his crew not to get involved with the women (something *some* of them don't listen to very well), it takes a while for Treyjon to show his interest. Even though he felt it. You gotta love a lady who isn't afraid of dangerous animals.
Angela's appreciation for his "pups" isn't just for show, either. She's genuinely curious about them and definitely develops a bond with one of them. And when she and Treyjon get stuck in some tight quarters, they start to develop a bond of their own. (Have I ever mentioned how much I love a good "stuck in a tight spot" scenario? Because I do. I really love them.)
Things are taking a turn for the women stolen from earth. Not only is their future looking uncertain as far as whether they'll be allowed to return home, now a new, dastardly plot is uncovered. I'm not sure how things are going to turn out, but I'm all in to find out.
In this installment we get Treyjon and Angela. They've made it to Dethocoles and the woman are anxious to explore especially after the rough encounter on the ship that introduced Angela to svenkars. Turns out she's a natural trainer and when offered a tour of the city, Treyjon tests her svenkar training skills. The attraction is definitely there as we got a hint of it in the first book and an "undercover"-ish mission uncovers a plot that could endanger the planet Gaia as well as deepens the relationship between Treyjon and Angela. Another great installment by Ruby and highly anticipating the third book!
**Received an ARC in exchange for my honest review**
This was a nice, quick, and entertaining bit of story. I think it was too short for the price, but I guess it is fine if you are a KU subscriber. I enjoyed the first one about the same as this one. I’m curious to read what happens next … I so want to see Orion’s brother’s comeuppance, heh heh.
It is a bit of light, I almost but don’t really want to say fluffy, sort of writing it is pretty different than what she writes under her other name as it is more romance heavy than the other stuff. I still really enjoy it since she is practically a master at world and character building.
One of the main issues for me was the Heroine. One minute she’s scared of everything, the next she isn’t. In the beginning of the book she completely overreacts when all she had to do was clearly state she was uncomfortable instead of beating around the bush, and making a show of jumping over a table to flee...like really, can we not with the wilting flower?
Then, she braves gunshots and potential capture for a man she barely knows, and she is brave when feeding the dog like creatures that other people find scary/vicious. Then she is afraid when she encounters one of the creatures (one she’s already met) who apprehends a criminal. Make up your mind, is she brave, or is she a wuss?
My second issue is, and I don’t like to be one of those people, but, I sense a slight undertone of...hmmm, how should I put it...racial bias, perhaps?
One indication of this was the Hero’s home planet. He is described as a brown skinned man with dreads in this book, and was referred to as a dark skin man in the previous book, which is basically the same, and as readers we can conclude that he is black.
The author describes his planet of origin as “primitive” and not only that, his people carry spears and basically are wild and live in the jungles, and even after technology was introduced to them by the more technologically advanced people (who happen to be white and of greek decent), most on his planet choose to continue to live primitively.
His planet of origin is apparently more primitive than earth. In the first book there was a mention of the reason why earth people could not advance as quickly, and it was suggested that they couldn’t do so because the people were so different and there had been so many wars etc, because people could not get along. Whereas when these groups were taken elsewhere in the galaxy, and were with people like them, they were able to work well and make great advances. This then makes me wonder what the author was implying. A planet with a mixture of folks (Earth) made some progress but were obviously behind, a planet with people of Greek decent only made many strides to surpass that of Earth, and the planet with blacks only, were even more primitive than Earth. I’m not saying that the author purposefully did this, and I’m not saying she didn’t, as that would make no difference to me. This coupled with the idiocy of the heroine was a big DNF for me @ roughly 35%.
Why did I give it a two instead of a one? Potential is the simple answer. The story had potential but she ruined it with the aforementioned.
I REALLY liked this one, BUT therr were a few questionable things for me that docked it .5 points.
Ok, lets set the recod straight. I'll read any book with an Angela. And if you couldn't tell by my profil, my name is Angela. And guess what!? The main character was, you guessed it, Angela! Match made in heaven. To top it off she was also 23 years old (as am I) and obsessed with sweets, in particular, donuts! Any one who knows me knows my love for Tim Hortons Vanilla Dip Donuts. Ok, so this book already had that going for it.
BUT I really did enjoy the whole premise. Women taken from earth and on an enemy spaceship, just to be rescued by hot star guardians? Sign me up. When does the next slaver ship land? .....just kidding.
So it was a great story and I enjoyed the romance and "alien" aspect...however, for somone who didn't really know Angela, for someone who has been a Star Guardian and who has grown up in the galaxy, and for someone who claims to be "so" devoted to his alien dog things, was sure quick to leave it all behind. I just didn't get it. Was Angela really his only motive to leave his world behind? I know its a romance but it still didn't make sense. Idk. Just me I suppose.
Anyways, because i'm Angela, and I don't always read things in order, I read this fist before Orion. It still made sense to me. Honestly I didn't have a hard time following along. I probably should have read Orion first, but oh well.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Treyjon is book two in the Star Guardians series by Ruby Lionsdrake, and closely follows book one (Orion). While it's a close follow up of the adventure that started in Orion (and yes, this means it is not meant to be read as a stand-alone, even though the author provides a bit of insight about what happened before), I didn't feel that there was a lot happening in this second installment.
The romance is rushed (just like in book one) and a bit unrealistic in some places, but more than that, the whole story seems rushed. The only really important thing happening is that Angela and the rest of the Earth women have not been allowed to return to their home planet, but the captain of the Star Guardians ship decided to take them anyway.
What happens afterwards? No idea, because by then Treyjon ends and you need to read book three to find out.
So, while these books are sort of addictive - because, of course, you end up wanting to know if the women do get to return home or not - Treyjon felt more like a novella or a just a chapter of the main story, and not really a full sized book with its own plot. If not for the fact that it provides a link to the rest of the series, you could almost skip it and not lose all that much.
I have by now moved on to book three and post a review of that one as soon as I finish it.
I was disappointed about the end of this book, but the rest of it was fun. However, it's still possible our lovely earth🌎 women will never get back to 🌎earth, which I hope is what happens. I just don't see the Star Guardians👹 living on 🌎earth. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
In this book, Angela, the aspiring 🐕dog trainer, hooks up with Treyjon, the Star Guardian Lieutenant and tracker. They have an attraction to each other which grows quickly when they have a chance to spend some time together. The women are a bunch of whiners, all through the book they want to go home. 🏡 I absolutely loved the Mandrake Company series. This Star Guardian series got off to a great start with book 1, but this second book isn't as good. It seems the characters are lacking the quick wit and downright sexiness of the male characters in the Mandrake Company books. I hope the third book will be better. The Star Guardians need to be more Alpha🐺🍌🌋🔥✋, more controlling, more 🔥hot and just😈 plain naaasssty bad boys! There needs to be some spanksters ✋✋✋ in the bunch!
It is always a little scary when I find a new author that I like (new for me), scary because it might be a one off and the next story might not be as much to my taste as the first one was, and how disappointing is that when it happens? Very! Happily that is not the case here, I loved the first story I read (which is actually the next one) and I'm now very merrily making my way through the rest of the series. I like that despite the situation the Ladies find themselves in they are sticking together, and that they are being treated with respect. There is none of the usual "stupid backwards human being of no use other than to screw or breed by far superior and advanced aliens" that this genre is full of. There is also none of the instant mate thing going either. In fact I think RL has managed to make the most realistic and believable sci-fi I've read in a long time. Her characters are still human, they act human, they react the way people will always react and they fall in love the way people fall in love all the time. I believe in love at first sight but it takes time and lots of getting to know each other before either of them are ready for trust and the HEA.
Treyjon is a officer on the spaceship to train these animals that are deadly. Angela is one of the girls that is kidnapped off of earth to become slaves our food for another alien group. She's always thought that he was handsome and has a body to die for but he is always just cold and never pays attention to anything that she does that she thought that he didn't care for her. When he was Hurt and she offered to feed his beast he begins to see a difference in his feelings towards her. Not everyone can get around these beast they have a weird name so I didn't put it in here. They have some adventure he gets hurt a lot but she's always there for him she's kind of like a hippie girl her parents must've been hippies she wears long skirts and her hair in braids. The book was pretty cool I want to read the next story which I'm hoping is going to be the captain of the ship.
Treyjon features another of the women abducted by pirates from Earth and rescued by the Star Guardians. This time it is Angela and instead of dogs she finds she can train the fearsome svenkars, four-hundred-pound predators. Treyjon is their main trainer and of course he and Angela start to spend time together. There is a lot of danger and tension in this part of the series. Things are not as they seem and a old enemy wants access to Earth and not for any good reason. All of the action in book 2 sets up both the romance between Treyjon and Angela and the plot for book three. It comes out in July and I can't wait to see what happens to the women and the Star Guardians next.
Back on Earth Angela was use to training animals so when it comes to temporarily feeding Treyjon's tracking Svenkar she volunteers. Turns out huge hulking svenkar react much like dogs for her. Treyjon is really impressed, these animals are very hard to train and will accept commands from only a very few people but they easily follow Angela's commands.
Treyjon takes Angela out to see the town but they notice someone is following the Captain. They follow the man following the Captain...
Very short story. A bit more fun than the first book, "Orion" where all the world building was introduced.
In book 2 of the Star Guardians, the kidnapped Earth women make it to the Star Guardian's base planet - Dethocles, and wait to find out if they will be allowed to return home. The pirates cause one last bit of trouble and escape briefly, which results in svenkar trainer Treyjon being injured. Angela proves to have a knack for training these large brutal beasts. She accompanies a recovered Treyjon into the city where the notice the captain being followed, and uncover a plot to sell the Earth's location to the aliens that like hunting and eating humans. The book flew by and the plot was not as strong as the first book, but the story moved forward, so that's great.
Book 2 was as good as book 1. It had me simultaneously anxious for them and laughing at them! Action packed with a story line that draws me in almost instantly. A perfect mix of action, character and world building and romance... for me anyway.
This story actually made me like svenkars, and though I like dogs I'm not usually a fan of the ones that slobber a lot.
Angela really comes into her own and I just like Treyjon from the first time i met him (in Bk 1) but I'm still waiting for someone to teach these dudes about real food!
Ruby Lionsdrake continues the story of the Star Guardians and the Earth women they rescued from the slavers in Treyjon. These are very warm, engaging characters who battle against those who wish to profit from the newly discovered planet Earth ( or Gaia, as they call it) and with the undeniable attraction they feel for each other. Treyjon and Angela are drawn together by their love of animals and uncover a sinister plot to exploit the Earth. They remain together because of the love and passion that develops. Will they be able to stay together once the government discovers that they are returning the women to Earth? The next story, Sagita, will have that answer. Highly recommended.
What is nice about this second book is that although we focus on a new couple ( very charismatic I might add) the story carries on, so questions that I had about what happen to Orion and Juanita are somewhat answered and my wish to read something on Sage will be also answered in book 3. In this Book Ruby’s style remains the same, fast past, funny, well written, I had no trouble being immersed in the story and be part of it. Highly recommend it. And of course there are those few hot scenes here and there…. Just grab that book you won’t be disappointed.
This is the second book in the series and I loved it
Since I am an avid reader and this genre is one of my favorites . I loved the whole series cant wait for the next book.It is about a group of women who get kidnaped. by aliens but not just any but humans from other star systems to find out how you need to read the book any way they are rescued and this book involves characters from book 1. To fully understand this book please read the first book. The heroines in this book also kick ass they help the heros .This book also have a lot of action and romance.
Much, much better than Book 1.....thank God. My issues are 'technical'. I'm a geek like that.
Why would the ship's engineer do suspect identifications? Why not the security or intel officer? Surely, they would have those on board. Or poor Treyjon lamenting about no one offering to 'rescue him' after speaking to the captain and then the engineer. Maybe that's because he informed the captain he's on the ship which took off, but not that the enemy is. Then follows by telling the engineer he's on the ship as well as the enemy, but not that it took off! hhhmmm 🤔
Treyjon, the second and my favorite installment in the Star Guardians series answers many questions about svenkar and the power of Treat-Tak, the value of donuts, the furry Zi'i, and will the women return to earth. Once again Ruby has a penned a fun fast paced adventure with snarky dialogue, steamy scenes and likable characters in Treyjon and Angela's story. I cant wait to see how Tala affects Sagitta's 'stiffness". (received an ARC but it didnt influence my rambling)
A wholesome , kind of lonely trainer of fearsome creatures and a pretty blonde with a knack for handling dogs get together to save the day and each other in this second fast-paced book in the series. It elicits more breath-baiting empathy from dog-lovers, but it's nevertheless a SF adventure for all fiction lovers everywhere.
As expected, it ends unexpectedly, so I can't wait for the sequel!
I just really love how well Ruby Lionsdrake writes! Great characters, great plot, excellent world building, plenty of excitement, great buildup of romantic tension and excellent release of that tension! Seriously if you want a great romantic suspense to dive into try this author's books - who cares if it's "sci-fi"? Usually when you read this type of book you're looking for escape anyway, so why not go all out and visit other worlds/outer space? Can't wait to continue on in the series...
This one follows straight on from Orion and continues the galactic adventures with Angela and Treyjon. Plenty of action, svenkar drool and sneaking in this instalment of Star Guardians with Angela and Treyjon working to find out why someone is spying on the captain and the ship.
This book is a fun romp but suffers from poor editing. Missing, misspelled and at time jarringly wrong words spoil this series as it did in the previous book. The plot is hashed together without true literary flow. This author shows promise as the story is funny and has some good original elements.
Angela finds something better than dogs to train in outer space. She thinks she would like to train a apex predator. However, watching her in action has the official trainer ready to sit up and beg. I really enjoyed the storyline. Let's see were it goes in the next book.
I didn't read the first one because this one seemed more interesting, but after reading Angela and Treyjon story I'll have to go back and read the 1st book. Best part was the svenkars. I want one only if I had the same relationship with it as Angela. Cute couple with the right amount of action & romance for a SCI-FI romance.
