Leaving 101: How To Prepare To Leave Your Alcoholic Husband...Even If You're Not Ready To Leave Your Alcoholic Husband

Rate this book
As the wife of an alcoholic, Wren Waters knows the conflicting emotions women married to alcoholics experience on a dailiy basis. "Should I stay?" "I need to leave." "I don't want to leave." "I'VE GOT TO GET OUT!" She also knows that leaving the alcoholic marriage is not an easy solution or even the solution for all women. "Leaving 101" is not about leaving your alcoholic husband today, tomorrow or necessarily at all. It's about arresting the erosion of your soul brought on by someone else's compulsive drinking and taking back control of your life. So that one day, it is your choice as to whether you stay or go.

Most practical on living with an alcoholic

I felt like Wren connected with me because she too was also in the trenches. I did not put it down until I was done.

Finally!

Finally someone who gets it! Each and every word had me nodding my head “yes!”. This raw truth is exactly what I needed! I’m reading it for the 3rd time because, well, when your husband is an alcoholic, “sex addict” in denial...you take any advice you can get. Did I marry this version of this man? Hell no! But regardless, it’s what I have. The “loop” that I go through on a daily basis is soul draining. This book helped me see that I can do this! I can live a fulfilling life while I’m in this torturous “uncertain” head space. I don’t have to wrestle each day with the “stay or go” question. I can prepare for any situation while mindfully living each day. Thank you so much for writing this book! It has allowed me to see my situation in a different light. Thus, it has changed my life!

GREAT

Do yourself a favor and read this book whether you are or not a wife to an alcoholic, I am not and have found it extraordinarily helpful and inspiring. If you’re dating an alcoholic you MUST read this book, and the previous one by Wren Waters too. Her books are well written, have perfectly curated quotes, great content, a list of helpful resources, and based on her true living experience. Start reading!

True to my life

I rated this book because I swear it was written about me in every way. The honest feelings explained in this book are true to life. My children don't understand why I've stayed. I purchased the book to give to my 3 children to read so maybe they can understand how and why I stayed for so long.

So many nuggets of wisdom

This is the perfect book from someone who “gets it.” No two relationships are the same, but the generalized tips help to pull you out of the funk you’ve found yourself living in. My only reason for taking off a star is that it needs editing.
