Destined To Inherit A KingdomI thought my life was all mapped inherit the throne, bring more advanced technologies to the realm, further the interests of my people, and marry the girl my father chose for me; pretty simple, right? Sadly, my life wasn’t simple at all.
His Father’s Murder Changed EverythingThe chaos started when a rival king from another realm brutally murdered my father, held my mother and sisters hostage, and then blackmailed me into marrying his spoilt witch of a daughter to save their lives. Did I tell you that I’d already signed a contract to marry the daughter of my father’s best friend? Of course, the bastards tried to kill her, but I was able to foil that act and hide her away. Who knew that my child bride would become this beautiful, brilliant, and fierce woman, determined to retake her place in my life? Finally, after years of being trapped in an existence I never wanted, I can see a glimmer of light at the end of this dark tunnel of my life.
Bred To Be A QueenMy future was set, my husband selected, and my career path determined. I trained all my life to be his wife, his queen. It seemed that our journey into the happily ever after would never come. When he stumbled into my apartment after yet another vicious attack on his life, I’d had enough! If I didn’t do something now, our future would ever be lost.
Taking Matters Into Her Own HandsI knew I was supposed to wait for him to lead the way, but how can I ignore the constant threats on his life, the paralysis of our lives together, and standby and do nothing?
Sometimes a woman has got to save her man even when he doesn’t realize he needs saving.
The first romance novel I ever read was Cinderella! I devoured Disney’s version of romance until I was eleven, and then I discovered Mills & Boons. In those days kissing was the most explicit intimacy disclosed: the hero and heroine went to bed and came out the next day with smiles! I had no idea what happened, but I was intrigued. My mom had shelves and shelves of them. Over the long summer breaks, I barely left my bedroom! My busy parent had no idea what I was up to. I’ve always been fascinated with love stories. I started writing in college, but I never expected anyone would ever read my whimsical musings. LOL! Now years later, after husband and kids, and a solid career in finance I’ve started publishing those early ideas.
I write my stories so that every woman would be inspired to find the other half of themselves. With every story I tell, my Caribbean sisters are highlighted. Our culture is a melting pot of all ethnicities, where love has no color. We love who we love and make no apology for it. These stories are also infused with my love for sports and action thrillers. I’m an avid sports fan. Tennis, football, track and basketball are my favorites. I devour dramas and action movies. So it’s to be expected that my books have a healthy dose of adventure.
Writing romance novels has been a dream I never knew I had. It was born out of suddenly having a little extra time with the kids out of the house. I absolutely love this creative outlet.
Author’s Creed I like women strong, and my men stronger! I like my sex raunchy but meaningful!
See that's what I get for reading reviews. I read one that basically said the H was having an inappropriate relationship with a child... Not damn true! Let me see if I can help clear this up. People on Prath live a very long time... centuries. The H was put in an arranged marriage with the h because their fathers were besties. Yes at the time she was a baby. The H never had ANY romantic/ sexual thoughts or ties to the h until she turned 22 and he hadn't seen her for years before that. Now with that being said. I have read Vampire books where that joker was 958 years old and found a delicious and irresistible 19 year old undeclared college major and they "fell in love". Those books get 5 stars. Same thing man! The only reason I couldn't give this book a whole 5 was because the ending was terrible. It just ended. I didn't feel it came to smooth conclusion.
Wish I could give it a 3.5. Good read but a little disjointed. I've read and thoroughly enjoyed (5 star ratings) all of her books. I liked the H/h. Plot was a bit predictable but Ms. Mortier is such a great writer that I continued to read even when I was fairly certain of the outcome. Her delivery is much better than anything I could have imagined or written myself. Despite my rating she will continue to be a one-click purchase for me.
This is by far one of the best books I ready this year so far. I loved the humor, the love, the sad times, everything. This book had me wishing for a 6'8 guy of my own, and I fine guys way taller than me (5'9) scary based on height alone. I was amazed by their love for each other as well as the understanding of hardships they both had to face. It made it so I couldn't get too mad at either character for not fully understanding their partners actions. I rarely rate things full marks because...I guess I am too critical compared to other people. But I loved this book entirely as a whole, this book had me up early in the morning with 1 short sleep break, lol. Either way though I know the book is probably done I would love a sequel or prequel. Thank you for the beautiful distraction before finals study time begins.
D. M. Mortier is such a great story teller. Her work captures your attention from page one and holds it til the end. With this one a few times I found myself even holding my breath anticipating what was to come on the next page. Saina and Thorne were different, as in from not of Earth but their love for one another was just as any other. I was in awe of the authors imagination of life on another planet. If another book featuring the other characters, any of them they were all interesting to me, is a small thought in that great mind of yours PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE make it a bigger thought. I'm sure I am not the only one that will be asking.
I was not feeling the first few chapters...and I admit it, I skipped a chapter...then my interest peaked. I didn’t feel like I missed the portions I skipped in Siana and Thorne’s story.
However when I got pass the slow beginning; It was an interesting blend of intergalactic and earth style love! I loved how she wove the two together without making the story seem unrealistic...honestly she did a great job of it!
I love her books... and in my game of “pick it” or “skip it”.......I’d say, Pick it and enjoy the love, the humor, the sex and the transporting between planets/galaxies 👍🏽!
Great as always!! At first Thorne was kind of worried me as king , I was thinking he is too soft, but gee, the man is a raging tornado when provoked!! Their love are truly inseparable and beautiful, I wish they could communicate telepathically,,, also,I have a few unanswered questions: would Saina be able to teleport now that the baby is born? The baby is big and beautiful Thorne said but who the baby looks like? I love Andre and Tarik, they are funny bastards,,, hopefully D.M. Will tell us their stories. Lol. Fantastic read!!
Another great story! Combining two genres, BWWM and science fiction, with a fantastic plot filled with suspense containing a fearless heroine and a sexy alpha makes an awesome read. Saina & Thorne are my new fav alien couple 💑. I loved the creativity of the realms created in the story.
Thorne...just wow, I want more of Thorn and Sauna. A love story that has plenty of action and sex, and just enough crazy. Someone wanted them dead, and although it was almost obvious who it was, it still was kind of a surprise. Can't wait for Tarik and Andre's stories.
Am from Trinidad and Tobago and I love how you always give mention to the Caribbean.. With that being said, this book was really good. Went at it in one day. It had me lolh and teary eye at some part. Really enjoyed this
I couldn't stop. I love how the story wove the love in the midst of craziness. When the sister came in the story I had a feeling something was not as it seems. Great story telling.
Action. Intrigue. Suspense. Romance. Fantasy. Other worlds. Teleportation. A hunky hero king who is also a scientist (smarts are sexy), and a courageous, also smart, loving, chocolate-hued heroine. Enjoyed the story.

I loved this book. Good people vs bad people. Now if only it was possible to transport oneself...well written with the writer having a very creative mind. Great way to relax do go grab yourself a copy and enjoy!
This one is really a 2.5 for me. Thorne and Saina are promised to one another when she's a baby. However, political machinations and threats pull Thorne into a marriage with a woman from a war hungry realm covetous of other realms. The wife is duplicitous and continually tries to kill Thorne. Why he keeps her around I have no idea even now that the book is finished. In any case, the wife learns of the bride contract and tries to have Saina killed so Thorne sends Saina to earth to protect her. Earth is just exiled people from the realm Thorne rules outside of earth but concealed by magic. After an assassination attempt, Thorne teleports to earth essentially on his death bed to Saina's apartment. Saina heals him with her powers and now that she's a young adult, is ready to come back to the realm with Thorne. Thorne resists her overtures for safety reasons until his hand is forced. Earth gets increasingly unsafe for Saina as people from his realm come after her but the real catalyst to Thorne's change of heart is Saina. In between the begging for Thorne to take her with him, they spend a bit of time satisfying their lust for one another. It results in Saina becoming pregnant and since she's carrying a boy, the only sex in Thorne's bloodline who can teleport, Saina can get to the realm on her own and threatens to return if Thorne won't take her himself. Saina's insistence is because she wants to help him with the assassination attempts. Things end well and Saina does end up being helpful in devising a plan to get to Thorne's family.
All in all, Thorne was too moody and uncommunicative for me. For magical being who is hundred of years old, I found his constantly shutting down instead of talking through issues with Saina to be annoying. That his jealousy is piqued when Saina went to that party was ridiculous and especially when he hadn't bothered to see her in a long time because he was off pouting and ignoring her messages. The angry sex after was hot though. The whole Tarik is my brother and he knew, but then talk about him treating Saina as a date was a bit yuck.
Calling editors to this book. Please help with the grammar, spelling, word use, and consistency.
Saina is undoubtedly one of the worst heroines I've ever read. I know this author likes her heroines to totally hero worship the men, at times that can be cringe but there's no one fictional or otherwise worth soiling yourself over. There's this weird phenomenon in this specific subgenre of interracial romances where the author will make sure the readers know that the female lead is really "smart" by giving her an ivy education, degrees & a highbrow job. That's established early in the story then the author will proceed to have the heroine be a simpleton for the entirety of the story. It's genuinely baffling. Can these heroines have agency, self respect & confidence? Must everything they do be laced with desperation. 2nd book I've read from this author where the women is jumping to take a bullet for the men. Like ok, we get it.
Sania and Thorne were on a roll. She was his since birth. She was smarter, stronger and more determined than he would believe. She has healed him since she was a child. There was no way that now she is older she would not do the same. There was so much that Thorne wanted to do with his life. He wanted to pro text his people and his family. So do that he gave up the one person in the entire universes that was meant especially for him.
Sania and Thorne had an appealing story but for me there were spaces gas things missing. I wanted to get more. There were so many things her. There were great characters that I wanted more from.
I liked the plot in this book. However, the hero kept going back and forth between being weak to Alpha. Half of explanations for a lot of the actions taken by the hero were a stretch at best to flimsy to downright illogical. It was so many deleted dilemmas, I couldn't wait for the book to end. Lastly, if this civilization was supposed to be the precursor for earth, why were the characters, that didn't spend a lot of time on earth, so in tuned with American slang and sayings.
Romanticism of child brides, ooooookay hmmmm, it's a no for me. Can't get past the fact that this girl was a infant/toddler being married off to a man a lifetime older than her. Not only that, but as her guardian watching her grown up through childhood then once she's 21 having g sexual explicit thoughts of said child turned adult. This is the second book I've read that had that pedophilic vibe to it. It's a no for me sorry.
From the blurb I thought I was going to be reading about this bad a$$ heroine, with bright ideas and saving the day for her man. Instead she was kind of needy and annoying for the first 76% of the book. Overall the storytelling is great. Certain parts of the book I was able to figure out where it was leading; but I would recommend.
The storyline was captivating and had an interesting collection of characters. Their experiences, unique talents, and weapons added to the interest of the storyline, with main characters romantic relationship interactions only added spice to the story. I liked reading the story.
I really enjoyed reading this book! I was pleasantly surprised with all of the secret revelations. If you read the negative reviews to this book, please ignore and enjoy! I am so glad that I did because they were a bit misleading.
This was a very good book. I have never read a book like this. I thought that it was going to be boring. It turn out to be exciting and adventurous. I am going to read more of your books.
