Essential guide to Venice. I like top 10 books as they are accessible and provide some offbeat recommendations. This one is no different.

Top 10 Venice is a concise, pocket guide to Venice city. Perfect for anyone trying to make the most out of their holiday! Like other D.K travel guides, it includes recommendations on tourist attractions to visit, how to travel to them and where to book the activities to prevent being scammed. Each page is laid out clearly with suggestions on what order to visit things to save time travelling between different locations, including time efficient maps to help unknowing tourists. Well written and saves so much time on researching different activities! I learned a lot from this book, such as how to travel cheaply and safely around the city and where was a must see for my trip. I would definitely recommend any unknowing traveller to pick up one of D.K’s travel guides as they’re easily transportable due to size and tourist friendly.

It's a light guide, even an abridged digital version of the older paper one, and I didn't realize that the good reviews the latter has don't necessarily carry unto this. Still, I appreciated the variety of topics covered, and the 10 shops to visit was something I didn't think about at all (even if only a few are reasonable for the average tourist whose budget has already been fagocitated by the city itself). I appreciated seeing among the suggestions a few locations I accidentally stumbled upon somewhere else.

Good for an intro, although it can be annoying when an item mentioned doesn't have a picture along with it, a quick glance is the whole point of this. Probably wouldn't take it with me, just use it to get ideas on what to visit.

I've become addicted to this series. Maybe it's because the books are so organized: top 10 everything: for the whole city, by district, by type of activity and on and on. Who needs comprehensive if you're not moving there? Also, their photography is top-notch and their maps kick ass.

It's not a comprehensive guide to the city though: if a place doesn't make the list, you're out of luck re: details like location, hours, etc.

A good guide to Venice. I brought it as other reviews stated it was the best to buy.
Great tips in there, but feel some things are now out of date already, but only the odd thing.
I was also hoping for a bit more practical tips and sadly doesn't name all sites to see in Venice.
Also names some of the palaces you can see, but they're not open for the general public to visit.
However this guide was useful in showing me the top 10 things I needed to see while visiting Venice.

This is a must before you die. There is no other place like Venice. It is magical! I watch the first Daniel Craig 007 movie over and over (and the only 007 movie I have seen - or will see) because I love love love to see the Venice scenes at the end. OK - Daniel Craig being in it and falling in love with a smart dark headed accountant has a little to do with it ;)

I used this and Rick Steves on our trip to Italy. I like the color pictures and the size of this one, but the information in Rick Steves is much more comprehensive and useful. I'd buy Rick's instead.

Decent travel guide. I am not the biggest fan of travel guides as I feel you can get a lot more information and up to date advice online. I only read travel books if I borrow them from the library.
