This book is intended for children and parents of children with ADHD. It offers up solutions as alternatives to traditional medications. Although no definitive cause has been established to date, it makes sense to try and avoid invading your body with unnatural substances whose effects are not yet proven. You may choose to implement one or all of the suggestions. All of them are free and non-invasive. It is about promoting good habits and a healthy lifestyle, which are commonsense principles for treating any bodily or psychological malfunction. It’s about being kind to yourself and finding easy ways to cope and remove the stress and angst from your life. Rid yourself of any guilt that you may have been carrying around. It’s not your fault. Move on and find positive ways of coping with what’s happening. Face up to it and be prepared to fight for your escape. Imagine what it will be like when you have found your hard fought freedom. You will have rewarding relationships, be able to sustain interest in things and you will be able to concentrate on developing a worthwhile and rewarding career. Take one step at a time. There is no magic wand. You must be prepared to put in the work to get the results. No-one can do it for you. It depends how much you want to make your life better. Only you can appreciate what life is like in your shoes. But that is not to say that you cannot ask for help. Tell others what you are trying to achieve. If they know you are trying yourself then usually people are more than happy to help you get where you want to be. If you do take two steps forward and one backwards, don’t beat yourself up. None of us is perfect. Just get back on the horse as soon as you can and keep looking toward the future. Nothing ever stays the same forever. Try and make sure that your tomorrow is better than yesterday and today. That’s all you have to do. Baby steps. And never stop trying. You’ll get there. As quickly as you want to. But you have to want to very much. Good luck!
