Because I Love You

Rate this book
Two years ago, he took my innocence and ran,
Luckily for me, he's a slow runner.
He doesn't know that he gave me the most beautiful gift in the world - my son.
I'm going to give him a gift too - revenge!
And if he's thinking he can get me and my son...
Well, he can go take a walk!

She's my best friend's little sister.
I should never have touched her.
But I did.
She was hot. She was fun. She was begging me for it.
So I gave it to her... all night long.
I told her I loved her. I promised her the moon and stars.
I meant every word.
Then I vanished. I couldn't tell her why. I still can't.
We haven't talked since.
But I saw her yesterday. She's still hot enough to stop traffic,
Even with a kid.
She's got secrets, but so do I.
I know she still wants me, but she's not begging this time.
This time she wants me to beg.
But I don't beg. I take.
And I'm taking Jessi. Secrets and all.

"Because I Love You" is a full length 80,000 words, standalone romance with no cheating and no cliffhangers, but with plenty of steam and a very satisfying HEA.

Basically this is how the whole book went:
Call and say we need to talk
Call nanny
Have lunch or dinner
Sex it up
Ask for her to stay the night
Sprinkle fight somewhere along the way
Blame each other for the past
Sprinkle in stuff about their jobs
Sprinkle in family drama
Sprinkle in bff time outs

Rinse & repeat

And what about the kid?
Oh he basically sleeps or eats the entire book and spends a whole helluva lot of time with the Nanny. There’s no great parent interactions here, and it drove me nuts because of how Chris didn’t have a great childhood. You think he would do more than always get Jessi to get someone to watch Caleb and come do something with him- usually it’s constant eating followed up by sex.

And let’s be honest- he was her greatest love but she wasn’t his. He doesn’t even call and let her know he’s back for over 2 weeks. They have to run into each other on a job by coincidence. He even lets the reader know he wasn’t sure where the relationship would go. And then later he says he’s always loved her? I call BS on that one. Sorry, but the love connection didn’t pan out for me - it’s more of a sex connection.

As for the reason Chris supposedly HAD to leave? Well- that was ridiculous to me as well. When it comes out, not enough time is spent on it and it just felt lacking.

Just too much 'bouncing'

Not a good book. All it was was sex scenes separated by words. It might have been better if they cut them down the scenes to three or four instead of like 20. And they were all the same. It was just frustrating because the story was there just hidden between all the nasty romps. It got lost in translation. And there was no real romance at all. Just gratuitous sex. Too much for this old lady.

Well before this one I tried 3 other books by this author... every single one started with the H getting it on with some skanky OW in explicit detail. I almost gave up before trying this book.

Chris left town 2 years ago with no way to contact him. Jesse found out she was pregnant and never told her family who the father was as it was a secret affair. Chris being her brother's bf. Chris returns but is reticent to say why he had to leave. So Jesse is reticent to tell him about her/their son.

I still skimmed A LOT of this book. But there were elements I really liked.

What I liked;
Chris was a nice guy, even if fallible.
Chris is a choreographer and Jesse is a plus-sized model.
There was no insta love but you could def feel the connection between them
The reason for the separation was a good one, especially for a young man
Jesse makes mistakes but owns them
Jesse is 'curvy' but has no problem with self-esteem.
The epilogue was really romantic!

What I didn't like;
The copious sex. It was hot but it takes up about a third of the story. And it always happened just as the MCs were about to make some progress in the honesty department.
So sex was used as a story deflection.
The repetition. Repetition of sex, repetition of reasons for this and that.
Basically, the book could have easily been half as long and I wouldn't have needed to skim the whole thing.

Would I read this author again? Yes, if she wrote a shorter book and it doesn't open with the H doing an OW.

safety is good

Don’t really know if I’ll continue reading this book.

Jessi, a plus size model who aspires to be in Tyra Banks league and praises Ashley Graham (who to me is a plus size fraud, lol) has a son fathered by the man who took her virginity, her brother’s best friend, Chris. A stage choreographed for runway shows.

He broke her heart and from the beginning it seems she’s set to break his for breaking hers yet at every turn... she fucks him. She plays his game too well. She flirts with him and everything. It pisses me off for some reason.

Chris seems shallow as fuck and a pussy. He’s not man enough to tell her why he left without a word. Every sentences that comes out of his mouth feels like he deserves a slap to the face.

Sure, jessi realises this too by she does no damn about it. To me, she seems arrogant and spoiled and entitled. I know these things could be translated as arrogant but it just seems like that’s her character. She has an air about her that screams “I deserve this and I’m better than you” with how she thinks about all the other skinny models. Sis, you jealous?

Dnf. Another so-called writer who confuses 'plot' with 'porn.' Page after page of the characters fucking one another blind is NOT a story and not the way to be taken seriously. Grow the fuck up.
Recycled tropes between bedroom antics. The hero is a complete tool and the heroine is a weak eejit. Not a real book and not worthy of a rating.

This book took me a while to get my head into. I loved the story line, curvy Jessi making a successful career in the modelling industry ( very positive image to put out), and Chris a choreographer, very different to the normal suited business man I read in Romance genre's.

I loved the empowerment by using a curvy woman for the main character, this is rare I find in the Romance/Erotic genre.
The cover however niggled me. The story brings you a confident curvy mum taking over the modelling industry, yet the cover shows a "normal" sized woman. I wish the author secured a curvy woman to empower other women, and show some diverse covers out there.

Because I love you was definitely steamy, imaginative and juicy. Amy Brent has captured a dramatic, romantic, very saucy novel in one. Once I was about 30% of the way through I was hooked. The revenge plot and karma was well done throughout. The story line never felt rushed and Amy definitely kept me wanting to find out more about Chris.
Jessi was an open book to the reader, but Chris was mysterious not only to me but to the main character Jessi....... Why would he leave her when they were so in love.

The sex scenes are very descriptive and always different. These two characters are on fire consistently throughout.I became Like Jessi's friend Megan in the end, I was getting so frustrated that this man he obviously loved didn't yet know the truth. Proof the author did well.

This was better than a light hearted romance, the complicated relationship made the couples dynamic more realistic. I like some drama in my books and this his the nail on the head.
A must read for all you Romance lovers out there.

I gave this book 4/5 on Goodreads, mainly because I found myself struggling to get into it from the first page. But once I was into the main part of the story I was hooked. I will be looking into more of Amy Brent's books in the future.

Oh my, what a super sexy read (still fanning myself). This was an interesting read and I did enjoy it even though I grew frustrated with the H & h with all the secrets and lack of communication. But keep in mind that the lack of communication is what kept this book in the super sexy category. It seems every time an important conversation needed to happen, they end up having mind blowing sex. However everything does get worked out and the mind blowing sex still continues.

For some reason my review of this book has disappeared, so I have to rewrite it. And I have no desire to spend any extra time on this book, as I made my self to actually read all of this book, so I will be short in this review pointing out the things that frustrated me.
I have never given 1 star rating before, but Because I Love You is the first book that gets a 1 star from me, as I just couldn't give it anything more.

So basically, I hated this book because the MCs were disrespectful and horrible human beings.

There was a lot of shaming skinny women and models from both female and male MCs' points of view, which is very wrong. I understand that author wanted to show that being a plus size woman is OK, but this is not the way to do it.

Usually in books heroes concentrate on how great is the woman that he is with, but this guy was actually thinking s..t about other women, how they don't have big enough chest (not the word he used) and so on.

Half of the book was just badly written sex scenes and no actual plot.

It was disrespectful because

This book was boring, with unnecessary drama, a bit unrealistic and very annoying.

Amy Brent gives the reader what they want and so much more. Because I Love You has a great mix of emotions, revenge, secrets, lies, heartbreak, suspense, chemistry that sizzles off the pages, sex scenes that are steamy and delicious, second chances, and love.

I volunteered to review an advance reader copy of this book.

This book was okay. I enjoyed the characters
and I enjoyed the writing but I did not
like how her best friend gave in details
about the sex she had with the boyfriend.
Too much information.

My momma always told me if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything, so here's the nice part.

The only part of this book I liked was that for once the guy was celibate during their separation.

Fair warning that there are spoilers below:

I love the secret child trope, but this was terrible. The guy didn't get confirmation the child was his until after page 300. This wasn't a secret child story, it was a second chance with a baby as an after thought.

I absolutely hated Jessi, couldn't stand her. There was no excuse or reason for how long she took to be honest and not once did she ever have an inner thought about her son needing a father, that just maybe she's being petty by denying her child a relationship with his father.

That being said, Chris wasn't my favorite either because he couldn't seem to grow a pair and just ask "hey is this my kid". Sure he had tons of inner dialogue about the kid maybe being his but not once did he just ask. I don't understand how a man could spend hours with a child he's 99% sure is his and not say anything. I also hated how often he mentioned how he'd get her to change her mind or acquiesce or give in to what he wanted "like she always did".

There was no back story given about these two, they never fell in love during the book, they never talked about the future together or anything on a deep or emotional level. I never felt a connection.

There sure did have a lot of sex though.

One last thing, I really hate when a book has a curvy heroine that focuses too much on how she's curvy and how awesome her curves her and how the guy doesn't like skinny girls and during sex he talks about how he loves how he has enough he can hold on to.

Repetitive and lacks depth

The story started out interesting but I felt no real connection between the main characters whatsoever. I found Jessi to be really immature and annoying. Her mind was set on reeling him in and spitting him out even before attempting to communicate with Chris about her feelings and why he left without a word. I don't understand why Chris refuse to tell her the reason he left town. I thought it was some big reveal so I kept reading hoping to understand, but it wasn't anything that should have kept him away for 2 years with no contact, IMO. Throughout the book, they were just busy having a lot of sex, every single time they get together, in the most improper places and situations, regardless of emotional state at the moment (I'm mad at you, have sex, I'm nervous, let's have sex, my brother just found out my kid is yours and he's mad at me, call you over and have sex, my kid's in the kitchen but you came through my door, let's have at it on the couch, etc). I skipped much of the book because I couldn't relate to their thoughts or actions. There were many glaring grammatical errors (e.g. "Jesse's and I' s relationship", "who's baby is that?") I would not recommend this book.

Jessi is a model, single mom, independent and making it all work. Because the love of her life left almost two years ago without a trace leaving her heart broken, abandoned, and pregnant.
No one could know the name of her babies father, she kept that wrapped up. It caused tensions and her need for vengeance when her son’s father came back into her world.

This story involves secrets, lies, hot sex, lots of steam, and mind games.

I liked the book, it was your typical secret baby, and why keep the secret....Feelings of abandonment, not trusting o having faith they’ll stick around and moving forward.

I like Chris- though I don’t agree with his reasoning for having zero contact for so long. I love/hate Justin and am curious about his new relationship.

Adore the baby and love how Jessi is doing the best she can being strong, independent and a good mom. Plus doing well at her and balancing life. She has a few advantages over most single moms but you can still relate.

The story makes little sense. The h smug, self righteous, a plus size model with a nanny for her 8 month old baby, lives alone. Her thoughts are all about not abusing her nanny, and while she says it's all about her baby, her internal dialogue show how venal she really is. It's not about the baby, it's about her. The H is barely outlined, no depth of character, silly plot, she meets the H, but just teases him? Unpleasant characters and plot.

This is my honest and voluntary review of an ARC.

Once upon a time, there was this girl who fell madly in love with her brother's best friend. She adored him, shared everything with him, including gave him her virginity. Then the harsh reality hit, he was gone. No letter, no call, no text, just gone. No one knew where or why. Then a stick with pretty lines on it happened to show up in her life.....now Jessi is a single mom, a plus size model and about to run into the very thing that has hurt her so deep. Her family and her are strained, to put it mildly. But Jessi is strong and she can weather more severe storms....so will she be able to handle the storm that just blew into her life again?

Guy's best friend has a sister that is hotter than anyone he has ever seen, hanging out with the brother more often just to be able to spend time around this hottie, and then something bad happens in that rips him away from the best friend, the hottie sister and the whole town, all because of his crappy family life. Christopher always wanted to be a choreographer, and now he is the best of the best. It took that horrible night to rip out his heart, send him away, and now finding out the mother unit and her husband (step dad to Chris) are gone, all of a sudden it is .....Here's Chris again! Only there is a lot that has changed and "picking up where we left off" isn't going as well as he thought it would.

Secrets.....bad news for relationships. Both Jessi and Christopher have them, and they are big ones. Chris is learning that the girl he fell in love with all those years ago has grown up into an absolutely gorgeous woman, curves in all the right places, and he will stop at nothing to be a part of her life again. Only Jessi is not going to have it, he left. Nothing from him, just left. She cried for a very long time, and then she cried some more when she found out he left her a present, and she had to endure harsh words from her brother, from her parents, and go out completely by herself and take care of the whole package now. Needless to say they both were not anticipating each other being at this photo shoot, and neither one of them are seeing each other the same way anymore.

Anger, frustration and a lot of making up happens. All the while Jessi is keeping something from Chris, he knows it. He figures it will blow over soon, and then everything will be fine. Only he is about to have his world turned upside down. He is introduced to someone, he is in shock, only he isn't quite introduced. He is held at arms length. More making up, but still at arms length from each other. Finally enough is enough, friends talk to friends, friends shout at friends, brothers shout at sisters, truths come out, and not a lot of simmering down happens. It actually has brought the tension level higher. Fooling around still happens, and the truth comes out. Chris gets angry, and yet plays the hypocrite over what happened. Jessi has come clean, and now she is left again. She just isn't going to catch a break.

Chris is set straight by Justin (Jessi's brother) and when that click of the final piece happens, the anger, the pain, the frustration, the happiness and the forgiveness starts for all parties involved, It does take some emergency with Jessi's dad to start the avalanche of this, but that is what needed to happen in order to move these two in the right direction. No, it wasn't a forgiveness overnight, it took a while, and Jessi to feel that Chris had left her once again. It also took that to have Chris be set straight by Jessi's brother, and to be shown it is a two way street. But once all secrets were out in the open, things fell into place better, and when the heart is open and forgiven, three awesome well deserved and needed words can be spoken, as can some little surprises to help them build a present and future, while leaving the past and never looking back.

First off, Kindle Edition ends at 22%.

Meh. It was fine.

I didn't really like any of the characters.
Jessi is annoying. She should not have lied to everyone. I really do not understand why she was intent on knowing the reason why Chris left. He left, that is what she should have been frustrated about, not necessarily the why.
Chris was very cocky. There were times he seemed like a good guy, but also many times where he annoyed me.
Justin started out as a great brother. Then he got really angry and somewhat violent. He shouldn't have acted that way towards his sister. I'm sure he was angry, but there were better ways to handle it.
Megan was the most "adult" of any of them. She knew what Jessi needed to do and told it like it was. However, I'm not sure how supportive she was of her friends.
Jessi and Justin's parents didn't seem very supportive of their daughter. I get they wanted her to name the father, but I'm not really sure why. And just because she was pregnant and single, does not mean it was okay for her father to say the things he did about her.

The other thing that really annoyed me was the age of the characters. We know Chris was 30, so I am assuming Jessi was in her mid/late 20s. They did not act that way sometimes. The way they talked about Jessi and Chris's first relationship made it seem like happened in high school, not two years ago when they were both adults. At that age, should Justin really have a say in who his sister or best friend dates? They were consenting adults.

There was way too much sex. And not even at the times when it seemed to make sense. When they were sad, angry, happy, bored, just sex, sex, sex. The reason Jessi never got around to telling Chris was because the minute the started a conversation they were tearing each others clothes off. Never mind the description of the sex scenes was repetitive and overdone. And the constant usage of the term "my juices" was just unnecessary.

There are better stories with similar plots.

Will She Give Him A Second Chance?

Jessi has loved her brother's best friend, Chris, for as long as she can remember and they have been dating on the quiet for some time now as her brother would go ballistic if he knew that they were a couple. One day Chris has gone. No note, no phone call, no message. NOTHING. His phone has been disconnected and no one knows why he has gone which leaves Jessi and her brother heartbroken. But a few weeks down the line, Jessi realises that she is in deep trouble as she is pregnant with Chris's child but there is no way to let him know. Two years later, Jessi is a successful plus size model with confidence and flare as well as being an ace mum to her little boy. She has told no one but her best friend Megan who the father is and she had to leave her family home as they were driving her crazy wanting to know the name of the father.  How is Jessi going to react when Chris turns up for her next assignment??  Will he explain [ and it had better be a good reason] why he left?? Will he convince her to give him another chance as he has always loved her? Will she even want to talk to him??  What happens when he finds out that he's a dad??  To find out you need to get yourself a copy of this book [and with it's fantastic bonus stories].  I really enjoyed Amy Brent's latest story 'Because I Love You' as the characters were well developed [although I still think that Chris could have left a message for her] and they compliment each other so well.  The witty banter and the dynamics are great - what will her brother do if/when he finds out that Chris is the daddy??. I enjoyed this from first to last page [with the red hot passionate love making and steamy scenes]. This is one of those reads that you can't put down until you've finished the whole story as it is compulsive.  I look forward to her next story!I received a reader's copy of the book and voluntarily leave my honest opinion of it here.

DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED

4.5/5 STARS. 39 FUCKIN CHAPTERS AND I FINISHED THIS BITCH IN 2 hours. It was really good. It has spice, the dominating alpha/hero, the plus size model/heroine. They mix so well and I get why Jessi wanted to get revenge on Christopher and I almost thought that was the plot line of the book. I feel like when Chris invited Jessi over for dinner it was just for sex and that kind of threw me off but didn’t stop me from reading the steamy dominating sex. I get why Jessi didn’t tell Chris that he was the father of the child but he also had a right to know and I know why Jessi also had her other reasons too. She was scared of Chris leaving her and Caleb again but turns out in the end he didn’t and they got married and she was preggers again. I also felt bad for Chris when he talked about how his own mother nearly turned him in and that’s why he left. He could’ve told her so many times but kept it a secret and Jessi still hated him but he didn’t care and I only thought he was in it for the sex but I was wrong. He’s sweet, possessive, sarcastically funny.

SMUT: 3.5/5 it took up most of their conversations, like one minute they’re talking and the next they’re fucking like it’s the end of the world.

I really liked the story, but it also kind of pissed me off. lol. I stayed up all night reading this an finished this morning. I hated all the games Jessi was playing throughout the whole, I liked the independence she had, but to demand answers when she was keeping one of the Biggest secret of his life from him. Jessi scared of being hurt and had to go through family drama all alone so she's guarding her heart which is understandable. but its a give and take and all she wants is to take and everyone to take her side.

Christopher, had to leave the love of his life, when they were just starting out because of a treat from someone who was suppose to love him. It could have destroyed his entire life and the future he was badly wanted. With the treat gone he can come home be with his best friend and the love of his life, now he just has to convince her of his love. And the game she is playing only makes it more difficult of them both to move on. Chris plays the bad boy, everyone wants. but the he only has eyes for one woman. Secrets will be revealed, hearts will open, friendships will be tested, lives will be changed forever. Getting to their HEA is part of the excitement.

Jessi is a plus size model and a single mom. She just started a new modeling job which leads her right back to Christopher. Christopher is her brother's best friend and he is also her son's father. He disappeared without a word two years prior and now that he's back Jessi isn't sure what she wants. The more time they spend together the more she remembers why she fell for him. Things start heating up between them and Christopher asks the question that everyone in her life wants to know who is Caleb's father? Can Christopher handle the truth of knowing he left her pregnant with his child? Can there be a future between them with the secrets each of them have been keeping?

This was a great story about two lovers getting a second chance at love. The chemistry between Jessi and Christopher is steamy hot. I loved that this story was about a plus sized character. Once I started I couldn't put this down. This will keep you entertained from beginning to end.

I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. I enjoyed it so much I bought my own copy.

Because I Love You
Eighteen months ago Jessi had her heart broken when her lover and brothers best friend, Christopher just disappeared. She's now a mother of an eight month old son, Caleb and a plus size model doing well for herself. When the choreographer for the show arrives her heart nearly stops. It's Christopher looking as handsome as ever and when their eyes meet she knows she's in trouble. As they spend more time together with things getting hot and steamy, Christopher meets Caleb and asks the question that everyones been asking , who is Caleb's father? Will Jessi tell him or carry out her plan of making him pay for leaving her after promising her the world? And will he step up to be a father to Caleb?
Not only do they have to deal with their own feelings they have Justin's, her brother and Christopher's best friend. What will happen when he finds out who hurt his little sister?
This is another 5 star hot and steamy second chance book by Amy Brent. I would highly recommend you get this book.

This is a second chance love story for Jessi and Christopher. Chris spent a lot of time at his best friend's house, who happened to be Jessi's brother. Jessi and Chris were dating and making love on the QT because Jessi's brother was so protective of of her. Then all of a sudden Chris is no longer in town and his telephone number has been disconnected. Jessi is doubly sad when she finds out she's pregnant. She refuses to tell anyone who the baby's father is and eventually family quarrels become such that she moves into her own apartment. Imagine her surprise when her baby is 8 months old and she shows up as the only plus size model for a designer's show, to find Chris is the choreographer for the show! This leads Jessi to keep her secret and begin plotting revenge; double revenge when she finds out her brother has known he was in town for weeks! This book has lots of action, hot sex, fights and fun, a near death episode, and a sweet baby!

Amy Brent is an excellent writer and one of my all time favorite authors. I've read and reviewed many of her books all of which were captivating four and five star reads. With “Because I Love You” she has given us another superbly written five star romance. Chris and Jessi have a steamy loving relationship when suddenly Chris leaves town without explanation. Unbeknownst to Chris, Jessi is pregnant. Chris returns after a few years and wants Jessi back. Why did Chris leave? Will Jessi tell Chris who the father is? Can Jessie forgive Chris for leaving so she move on? “Because I Love You” has everything an amazing book should have, the heartbreak, passion, tension, promises, abandonment and romance. Brilliant Story! Fantastic characters! An absolute must read!

Why, why, why....that’s the question Jessi keeps asking herself. Why did Christopher, the love of her life leave. Why no contact, Why no message. It never ends until 2 years later he is back...once again no warning, no message.
They say revenge is sweet but is it really. Jessi wants to hurt Chris for the hurt she went through but deep down she knows she can’t.
Being a curvy plus size model (which is a nice change from the skinny Minnie’s) it was inevitable Jessi would meet up with choreographer Chris, so now the fun begins. Now big decisions have to be made. Does she tell him he got her pregnant...now he has a son. Whoa 😲
A brilliant story of two people, split up by fate, secrets to be revealed and coming to terms with what happened between them. Brilliantly written and loved it.

Communication is the key Jessi and Chris did not have this. Jessi kept his son from him even when the started a relationship again lying to everyone like she did not know who the father was and the only reason she was giving him the time of day was to get revenge on him and Chris he wants to keep the reason why he left away from her. They are back and forth do much I was dizzy.

These two both needed to grow up and Jessi needed to let the past go people are allowed to make mistakes yes Chris was wrong to leave without an explanation but get over it her hurt from this was no reason to keep his son away she never really gave a valid reason. I read this story I only which the characters had more communication and that Jessi being a mother needed to grow up and leave the past in the past especially with her having Chris over regularly I give this one three stars.

Thumb downs for this book. I seriously wanted to like this book, but in all I could not stand Jessi. She was annoying as hell and ruined the book for me. I know this was a secret baby novel but when you hanging and hooking back up with the baby Daddy and don't tell him, he the father of the child he been seeing annoys the hell out of me. The father Christopher was also self center. It seems like him and Jessi issues in this book was just a long arguement. The only good thing about this book was Jessi’s best friend Megan the only adult in this story. The other problem I had the author did not even write about Jessi's parents reaction to Christopher being the father, since that was main thing in the book was his her parents treated her. This book was just not my cup of tea, towards the end I was just skimming it and I never do that.

I truly loved this story about Jessi and Chris. Two people who loved each other but Chris up and left without a word to Jessi. She soon realized she was pregnant and had a beautiful little boy who look just like his father. During the time Chris was away Jessi had to deal with her family that wanted to know who the baby’s daddy was. Jessi a BBW model has to deal with seeing Chris everyday on the current modeling shoot she is on. Soon Jessi and Chris get together but Jessi still keeps her secret close to her heart about the baby. I enjoyed reading this story on how Chris and Jessi were so busy trying to keep a secret instead of being honest with each other. Soon all things come to light and Jessi and Chris are happy.
I voluntarily reviewed this ARC book for my honest review.
