Dead Cows and Missing Time

Tom could not stop smiling. Aliens. This was fantastic! Junior Inspector Tomio Dubanowski and his partner, Senior Inspector Jackson Tyler of Detroit’s Police Department are called upon to investigate a bovine mass murder that defies explanation. Tom is thrilled. He might finally get a definitive answer to his question, “Are aliens real?” Jack doubts it. These are grass-fed beef. There is too much money at stake. An insurance payoff would be astronomically lucrative. And he’s thoroughly annoyed that they were called in the first place. It seems like a case for County Animal Control. But, these two super sleuths are the go-to guys for the weird and unusual. In this first story of a series, their investigation spins out of control. They both sustain injuries that compromise their abilities to think straight, and events occur that are so far out of the realm of human expectation that Tom and Jack, befuddled and unsure about their sanity, struggle to make sense of the nonsensical. Tom wants to believe, but what does he actually remember? That is a good question.
