I don't know why she called this book "The Wedding". There wasn't even an engagement until the middle of the book and the wedding was hardly much of the story. There was a lot of detail at the beginning but I found towards end things speeded up and it seemed like she was just trying to finish the book. I was a good story but at times I found myself skipping paragraphs just to get through some of the repetitiveness.

I don’t read Steele books for the enlightening content, I read them because they’re usually pretty fun and easy reads. This one left a bit to be desired though. Some parts were incredibly interesting but others were on the opposite end of the spectrum and were pretty damn boring. I didn’t love it but I didn’t hate it, I think the best way to describe this book is average!

-Adult
-Fiction
-Contemporary
-LGBTQ+ small rep (it seemed… off tho.. it wasn’t very good. And yes, I’m part of the community.)
-Some woman breaks up with her boyfriend because he was cheating on her and meets another guy and they want to get married + some other extra problems to fill out the plot, basically
-It’s just a normal story, there’s nothing outstanding.
-Of course the main character has blue eyes and is blonde, what a surprise
-I couldn’t find anything exciting in this book
-It focuses a lot in other people’s problems and how an engaged couple deals with those
-They fall in love in less than 2 seconds, bye
-“Don’t answer.” “I won’t.” (Literally proceeds to answer in less than 2 seconds)
-It’s a very “meh” book

A very sweet family drama filled with wonderfully developed characters and quite a few twists to keep things interesting.

I am not impressed, Ms. Steel. Sorry. This is the first Danielle Steel book I have read, and I guess I had maybe too hight of expectations for such a well-known and prolific author. It was different from some of the other romance books I have read, in that it let you know kind of what each character was feeling or thinking when she wrote about them - even small side characters. She also moved it at a pretty quick pace, but at the same time, you weren't really sure exactly where it was going after about halfway through - after the guy got the girl and got engaged. I mean, you know it's heading for a wedding, because of the title. I guess what made her a little different is it was more of a character study of all the different characters in the book, and not as much about a plot, per say. It was a snapshot of someone's life at a particular moment. No real huge obstacles to overcome (other than emotionally), and the ending was pretty anticlimactic. You finish the last sentence, turn the page and go, "that's it?" So, yeah, not super impressed. And I thought her books had love scenes, too. But, no. Nothing more than a "they made love until morning". That's all you get, folks. Why did her reputation lead me to believe otherwise? Shows what I get for going into a book with expectations. Guess I'll go cleanse my pallet with an author that I love....

I have read many Danielle Steel books and have enjoyed them all because they are entertaining and light and easy reads.

Albeit an easy read, a decent storyline and the characters having depth I found The Wedding to be overlong and repetitive. If this book had words cut or perhaps better still half the length it would have read much better.

Definitely not one of her better books.

This was a horrendously, badly written book. I have really enjoyed some of her books in the past such as Daddy, Fine Things, Lightning and Silent Honour but this was just dire. it was repetitive, tedious, shallow, uncomfortable in places and just totally a complete waste of time. I shall not be reading any other new Danielle Steel books as the last one was awful as well. Absolutely needs to stop writing now!

Sorry, but this book is so boring. Maybe it's because I don't like this type of books anymore. Simply, I wanted something to relax with, and this was not it. I don't even know why I finished the book... I have read several more books by Steel, but they were not bad. The Kiss was okay really, but this one left me wondering how possibly could she write this... Characters were alright, but the plot was so predictable and uninteresting. Sorry fans, but this was not Danielle at her best at all.

Yes! I read this book! And it was just as rewarding as I hoped and dreamed it would be. Steel's plot lines are imaginative, her characters multi-dimensional, her sentence structure complex and refreshing. the twists and turns in the plot kept me guessing the whole time. When that blond girl, that powerful yet feminine woman and the heroine of the book, cleverly named after an allergy medication, dumped her lying, cheating boyfriend who everyone but herself knew was a scumbag, I almost fell out of my chair. But what crept up on me even more was that she ended up with that charming and literary brunette from New York who made her feel like like she had "never been more of a woman, yet so much a little girl." And while some of these romance novels can seem repetitive, trite, and even formulaic, Steel's Wedding is packed with meaningful and insightful details about her characters and their practically Dickensian lives. I truly felt for the father who had to live through his wife's remodeling fetish, or for the sister whose best friend sweeps her off her feet and marries her as she just narrowly misses having a bastard child.

Surely inspired by the likes of Eliot, Austen, and Gaskell, Steel has written a masterpiece that will someday be considered one of the greatest books of the twentieth century.

This is my first DS book. I've avoided her like the plague, but decided I would give this book a shot. It actually started out well and kept my interest. I was enjoying it.... imagine that! About half way in though, it suddenly became quite tedious and I felt like the author was throwing in ideas that would tie up loose ends or increase her word / page count. I don't think I'll read another DS book anytime in the near future.

I picked up this book as a light, weekend read. While it has all the makings of a light read — predictable plot, unrealistic storyline, cheesy romances, wholesome relationships — I never could get into the writing style. It lacked depth, and that's saying something, considering this book is 500+ pages.
On the whole, it was an easy read, but I'm sure there are better easy reads to pick from.

P.S.: The title is a tad misleading, since the 'wedding' only covers like 20% of the entire book?

I’m sure the plot is fine, but I couldn’t get through more than 50 pages. Why? Because I don’t want to read about how beautiful everyone is. I also don’t know why her publisher lets her get away with using the word “and” so much. If we took out half of them, we would surely lose 200 pages. It got to the point of me counting the number of “ands” in each paragraph. The word didn’t disappear as it should. Instead, it stuck out and pulled me out of the book.

I tried, but I just couldn’t.

THIS IS TRULY A GREAT BOOK. It has raw emotion. True life situations, and also laughter. However, the love and respect of the family brought tears to my eyes. I would recommend this book to all ages.

I loved the story of Sam and Jimmy that was a real surprise twist and so endearing. I loved it.

The only reason I'm giving this book a 4 stars instead of 5 is that it's a really long one it contains so many details also the writer tends to repeat the same informations so many time.
But to be honest the story itself is amazing . I really enjoyed reading this novel, its smooth and keep your moral high.

The best part of this book was when the main character met her future husband and found out her boyfriend was cheating. After that... it was boring and redundant. Mostly about planning a wedding. Definitely wouldn't recommend. Would have been an excellent, short read if the author had stopped while she was ahead instead of running it into the ground.

Lights, camera, action !

Allegra comes from a family engrossed in Hollywood and is an attorney to the stars. After her work sends her to New York, she meets Jeff. As the title suggests they decide to get married. The Wedding is so much more though. Not only is it about Allegra and Jeff, it is also about her family.

The Wedding was trashy yet engrossing. Danielle Steel's depiction of Allegra's Hollywood was over the top and beautiful. I found myself rolling my eyes but unable to put down the book.

Danielle Steel possesses a talent for writing contemporary romance. While there were several scenes that had me rolling my eyes and cringing, I absolutely fell in love with this book.

I did kind of have an issue with the romance though as it seemed a little bit quick.

I gained a bit of respect for this novel when it's hard to discuss real life issues.

At first I didn't think I was going to connect very much with Allegra or any of the other characters, but that was so not the case. I ended up really caring about a whole Steinberg family. They we're so involved with each other and really loved one and other. Love and loyalty are strong in the Steinberg family. Danielle Steel did a great job depicting the whole family dynamic.

This is a slice of life story and all the characters many stories connecting with each other was really need. I felt like all the characters mattered in the story and had a place. The story just wouldn't have been as good if one of them was excluded.

Cringe-worthy and at times ridiculous, I really enjoyed The Wedding. I think I found my new guilty pleasure author!

I really enjoyed the book. I felt it was a roller coaster of a novel that was also very complete and enjoyable to experience the ups and downs. There were many trials and tribulations of the characters that were solved in a realistic and sensible manner.

This is a typical Danielle Steel novel. I hate to say it, but she does have a sort of "formula", or "style", for her books, for the most part. I do, however, enjoy reading her books occasionally, in spite of this. The Wedding revolves around Allegra Steinberg, and her Hollywood family. It is really a whirlwind of a book, one major event after another just keeps on happening to Allegra, her family, or one of her clients (Allegra is an entertaiment attorney). It is rather fast paced for the most part, which to me, is pretty typical for a DS novel. I have to say, so much of this is rather unrealistic, the fact that so many major things keep happening, no one person in real life could possibly have all these kinds of things going on in their life. To me, this book has a soap opera feel to it, but I enjoy soap operas, so for me, this was a fairly good read, hence the four star rating (I'm actually giving it 3.75 stars, but you can't indicate that here). Enjoy this if you are a fan of Ms. Steel's books, otherwise, maybe give it a pass.

Haven't stumbled upon a book with an actual happy ending for ages now. That's probably one of the very few reasons why I liked this book -some of which are not even related to the latter, from a literary point of view. Frankly, I wouldn't have given it the time if it wasn't given to me as a gift by someone who's dear to my heart. But to be fair, it was worth my while anyway. To quote the book, it was an amalgam of 'soap opera of the first order' which is not something I'm attuned to read. Plot-wise, it took me a while to find my way to where the title started to have a meaning, because afterall how can a whole book solely revolve around 'The Wedding'? It did, somehow. There were no major plot twists in this sense albeit a few tiny ones that were sort of expected, but it gave me a respite still to see things happen the way I hoped they will. So I guess, afterall, this book makes one good emotional break, but I'd rather plunge back into 'tragedies' now.

This is a typical Danielle Steel book with the usual happy ending. After a few odd directions, and some twists and turns all the loose ends are tied up just in time for the conclusion.

The story is pleasant if one can get past the writing style. Far to many conjunctions and run on sentences. Conjunctions connecting ideas which may not necessarily be correct or add to the thought. And, sometimes Danielle Steel has this style of repeating the main characters thoughts to many times, in her effort to make a point. And, of course the grammar is not always great with sentences ending in prepositions. There is nothing challenging or thought provoking about this writing style. Nothing snappy or interesting.

However, it is mostly a charming little romantic tale for a little escape from harsh reality.
