Veteran Jacob Stearne and athlete Pia Sabel are all that stands between right — and a world full of deadly wrongs. The pair takes on corrupt politicians, rogue corporations, and terrorists in three novels ripped from tomorrow’s headlines.
From the madness unveiled in ELEMENT 42, through destructive forces in DEATH AND DARK MONEY, to Americans who would use terrorists to push their political agenda in DEATH AND THE DAMNED, you’ll love the irresistible characters, the chilling masterminds, and tense circumstances. Jacob Stearne was a killing machine for the Army until he started listening to Mercury, winged messenger of the Roman gods. Now he works for Sabel Security. This irresistible hero is definitely lethal—but is he divinely guided, completely insane, or the next rampage killer?
Ever since Pia Sabel witnessed her parents’ murders, she’s been looking for ways to eliminate the corrupt and murderous. When her adopted father hands her the keys to a security company staffed with battle-scarred veterans, she discovers her calling as an avenging angel.
Book #1 - ELEMENT 42: When a drug company tests a deadly disease only their patented drug can cure, overconfident heiress Pia Sabel and unstable veteran Jacob Stearne are all that stands between right and deadly wrong. Chapter 1: The voice in my head returned when I stopped taking my meds. My caseworker said the voice was part of my condition—PTSD-induced schizophrenia—but I call him Mercury, the winged messenger of the gods, and a damn good friend.
Book #2 – DEATH AND DARK MONEY: Can a female athlete and a legendary veteran work with terrorist financiers to unravel a web of money and murder in time to save the country? Chapter 1: Brent Zola waited in a Washington DC diner on a frozen January evening, surrounded by the greasy smell of fries and the sharp clatter of dishes, unaware he was witnessing his best friend’s last hour of life.
Book #3 – DEATH AND THE DAMNED: Why would a billionaire smuggle terrorists into the country? The next riveting thriller from sensational author Seeley James featuring the unrivaled heroine Pia Sabel and the legendary veteran Jacob Stearne asks the question: who can you trust? Chapter 1: Who to trust is the scariest decision we make in life. I grabbed him by the hair, pulled his head back, and, cheek-to-cheek, we contemplated the sparkling stars dotting the moonless Syrian sky. I sensed his eyeballs strain all the way to the right to look at me. His fingernails dug into my forearm. Anxiety caused him to miss the grandeur of the moment. Too bad. It was stunningly beautiful. You don’t see that many stars from over-lit American cities. But I tired of our two-second relationship and drew my blade across his throat, severing his carotid artery and larynx before he could scream a warning to the others. I dropped his carcass on the other jihadi at my feet.
Unmatched in scope and depth, Sabel Security thrillers throw you into a unique world that kidnaps you on the opening pages and won’t release you until the end. Read one, and you’ll yearn for more.
On a rainy day when I was ten, I was transported to eighteenth century England where I met Captain Billy Bones, heard the tapping of Blind Pew’s cane, and witnessed the treachery of Long John Silver. When I closed the cover of Treasure Island, I thought to myself: When I make stuff up, I get in trouble. I need to become a writer.
Which was the career I planned on pursuing. Planned on …
At 17, I was homeless, wandering from one minimum wage job to another. At 19, I found purpose in life when I adopted a 3-year-old girl and raised her (she’s 51 now and lives across town). Children need a lot of things that cost money, so I shelved the writing idea and pursued a career in technology, selling products and services to Fortune 500 company executives.
Along the way, I met and married the love of my life. We added two children (now grown and living in LA and NYC) and carved out a life. When I’d made all the gold I could eat, I returned my focus to the career I’d always wanted: writing adventures filled with thrills and mysteries.
My beloved wife passed unexpectedly in early 2024. Now, I spend my time talking to my imaginary friends and hiking a small mountain in my hometown of Scottsdale, Arizona. I hope you enjoy the Sabel Security Series, and the characters of Jacob Stearne and Pia Sabel. As of this writing, there are sixteen novels completed and two more in my head. I plan to keep writing them until my mortal ink dries up.

Jacob's back! This is good news, as he's an engaging character with a clear voice, and he's a good counterpoint to heroine Pia Sabel's earnestness. This time around, Jacob has to land on a remote Caribbean island in order to rescue Pia from the bad guys -- at night, in the middle of a hurricane. No problem.
This could easily have turned into superheroics, but author James wisely reined in Jacob's exploits to minimize the amount of required disbelief suspension. A new, interestingly ambiguous villain arrives, and the background conspiracy loses some of its mystery while gaining a certain level of credibility not always achieved by thriller-based conspiracies. All in all, a worthy installment in this ongoing saga.
Serials still don't really work for me -- when I read a story, I want to do it on my schedule -- but Seeley James seems to be doing well by the form. If you've made it this far through Trench Coats, you need to pick up Part IV. If you haven't started yet, there's enough of it out there to keep you occupied until Part V.
Another exciting episode with breakneck pacing and danger around every corner. In the midst of a violent hurricane, Agent Jacob leads a team of Sabel Security agents to rescue Pia and the pedophile victims being imprisoned on a Caribbean island. Against the threatening weather and a company of armed mercenaries they fight their way through obstacle after obstacle. We see Pia Sabel's softer side as she deals with a group of abused children. Who has gone to such trouble to destroy her, and why? Those are the questions that plague them as they fight their way off the island.
This is my favorite episode of the series so far. Something about the 1st person perspective and Jacobs point of view as he leads a mission to rescue Pia. The last episode had such an amazing cliffhanger and this dovetails with it so nicely that it kept me at the edge of my proverbial seat. Some great fight sequences and some interesting progress on the overall mystery. I can't wait for Episode 5!
Jacob is my favorite guy in this series. I hope the next episode is told by him. He's the kind of guy you want to be around. Especially if you've been kidnapped by the CIA like his boss, Pia Sabel.
The stakes grow higher and higher in this episode, with a couple surprises and some losses. I think Jacob will save the day. And the ending left me wanting more. Love this series!
This author has a wacky sense of humor which shows up in his characters. He takes the weirdest combination of well trained professionals (Jacob and Pia) and adds in a bit of PTSD “voice in the head” called Mercury who often prompts Jacob to act. Once you are introduced to this group, their ethics and their opponents (a virus, government corruption and terrorists) you’ll be looking for the next in series and staying up late to finish it.
Pia Sabel a champion footballer billionairess who with her security services fights for justice against terrorists, traitors and is not afraid to take on the government in the cause of right. Along with her 2 right hand members I feel sure there are many more adventures in store for Sabel Security.
Great 3 books series leading together in unqualified way. Very powerful stiff and scary because it can be so true. If something like this happens is could be very concerning to all countries
A good story about the theory about a super battery that would do away with fossil fuels and maybe even wind farms.
Jacob and the team were all involved in this story where he is chasing down the Chase Equation, which was essentially the life work of Sabel’s biological father and the reason he was murdered.
So many unsavoury groups want to get their hands on the key to immense wealth by replacing fossil fuels.
One in particular with old foes Griffith’s and old foes Yeshenko and Deng Zhipeng involved in the bidding process too and Rafael involved as a Keeper wanting to keep the technology away from any power that will use it to dominate the world .
Jacobs doesn’t know who to trust and that includes Sabel.
It’s full of twists and turns as Jacob attempts to get over the loss of Jenny, who was murdered on orders by Griffith’s which gives an extra edge to their dealings together, especially as a new lady who might or might not be in Jacobs life has also had dealings with Griffiths in her past and very good reason for wanting to see him dead.
Needless to say Jacobs his, Mercury, makes too many appearances without helping and continues to bore by spouting on about Roman gods (boring, although I appreciate some like Mercury).
Jacob and the team fly here there and everywhere in their attempts to gain the upper hand and control over the technology and see off Griffiths’ Scottish bench men. The new henchmen, the Finns, are much more capable and represent formidable opposition to Jacob.
First thing; I liked this book! That said, it was a stretch to think that a world cup soccer player would have the "secret agent"/combatant type skills that the author attributes to Pia, and he does this throughout the book. That said I enjoyed the character development of all the major characters, I'm a character reader, I get into what makes them tick, who and what they are. Pia's soccer background has all but disappeared in this book As James focuses more on the team than just Pia, I'm not sure I like this turn. Having laid the background for further books with back story about Pia's parents in his first two books, this book neglects the questions if that issue has been resolved? Oops, no spoilers here, read the book, enjoy the book as I have, I'll be reading more by Seeley James. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
Following the adventures of the Sabel Security Team was fun. I enjoyed the relatively realistic description of the various veterans included in the story lines. It was fun to follow the main Sabel Agent, Jacob Stearne (who apparently owes a much of his battle success to a close personal relationship with the god Mercury) as he helps the young and impetuous head of Sabel Security, billionaire, world-class soccer star Pia Sabel, through a number of challenges as they strive for justice and security in a crazy albeit somewhat contemporary series of challenges of national importance.

I had to read all three books to the exclusive of all others... the story line leads you through a mix of flawed characters, the good, the bad and the in-between and keeps you involved and immersed all the way through.. having finished the set, I'm experiencing withdrawal but also getting my reading life back!
The first one had me nibbling at the bait, the second one had e tasting the flavor and the third one had me hooked. Great character development and was easy to pick up and put down. More please.
Pia witnesses the murder of her parents and when she's given the opportunity to stop all this, because she's handed a security company, she goes for it. A great, well written story in three parts. Couldn't stop, until, all were finished
An action packed story from beginning to end with a lead character who is rich, smart, and tough who partners with a serious warrior who hears voices Great plots.
Pia continues to evolve thru both success and learning experience. Seeley keeps me reading way past when I should be sleeping because I can't put his books down. Good story, interesting characters. Again, I have the next one in my reading queue, already
