For Jenny O’Malley, the plan was supposed to be easy. Become the surrogate for her friends, Connor and Jeff, deliver their healthy baby, and earn some money towards her student loans. But as the saying goes, the best-laid plans often go awry. Especially when you’re looking at the prospect of not getting laid for a long, long time.

With T-Minus two weeks to insemination, Jenny decides to take her friend’s suggestion to have one wild fling before she’s saddled with heartburn and stretchmarks. When a tall, dark, and handsome man in skin-tight jeans, cowboy boots, and a Stetson swaggers into the bar where she works, Jenny knows he is the one. After a scorching night of banging boots until dawn, Jenny is a little sad to see her Cowboy in Shining Armor leave.

When he reenters her life a few weeks later, she never could have imagined a positive sign could be such a negative.

The Plan by Katie Ashley illustrates what happens when fate intervenes in someone’s life and alters her plans, complicating an already complex set of circumstances in the best and worst way.

Jenny O’Malley may be only in her early twenties but she’s driven to help her friends expand their family in the most selfless and amazing way and even though she meets someone who she instantly connects with, she understands that for the next year, her life is about more than just her wants and needs so she moves forward, holding onto her one night with a sinfully hot cowboy but looking ahead to the next nine months.

But the best laid plans don’t always go according to plan and when her one-night stand re-enters her life in a bizarre twist of fate, it’s up to both of them how they proceed, if they do, because there are obstacles that might not allow anything to develop between them.

Brett Evans is one delicious cowboy who definitely knows how to wear a pair of tight jeans! And, I can’t say that I blame him for reacting the way that he does when he realizes who Jenny is...but he more than makes up for it and once they figure things out, everything seems to fall into place and even though Jenny’s plan doesn’t quite go they way it was meant to...it doesn’t mean it didn’t go how it’s supposed to for everyone involved.

Jenny and Brett’s story is a sweet and steamy novella that explores the idea of family and how a plan can go a very different way when the right person enters someone life. I loved catching up with characters from Ashley’s Proposition series and how integral they are in redefining what family means and how love conquers all.

This was an EXTREMELY quick read. But it was short and sweet and sexy. I enjoyed getting to know the characters, as well as meeting others that I assume might be in other books in this series? I liked all the connections that everyone in the story had. Brett's connection was perfect, and I liked that it was definitely realistic how he reacted at first to finding out that Jenny was pregnant, and who she was having the baby for. It sounds like there is another series I'll need to go back and read so that I can get to know all these other characters mentioned. Also looking forward to the chance to meet this author at Book Bonanza in July as well.

Jenny O'Malley is about to embark on a life changing experience in order to help her friends, Connor and Jeff have a child. But she wants to have one last fling before her body is on loan, and it is either the best or worst timing that Brett walks back into the bar where she works. He is a hot, charismatic cowboy and he makes no secret that he wants her. After an amazing night, she bails. But she has no idea that she might see him again.

Jenny is sweet, sassy, caring, and devoted to helping her friends. Brett is an added complication she never planned on. They have a connection and chemistry, but there is just so much more going on their lives. And he is confused and conflicted about the delicate situation, that gets even more complicated once everything is revealed.

What happens when your plans go awry? When the best laid plans could cost her the chance of her potential Mr. Right? Will they be able to work through their timing issues or are they doomed to be in a right-people-at-the-wrong-time-situation?

This brings back old friends from The Proposition series, but can be read as a stand alone. I love all the dynamics between the friend group, and I always liked Jeff and Connor so I am glad they are getting to be part of this spin off. Even though it is a short novella, I felt like it told a full enough story and I really liked the characters. It is a fun, sweet, romantic, and humorous story of love, friendship, and life's surprises.

I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Jenny O'Malley accepted being the surrogate for her friends, but the prospect of spending nine months without sex isn't very appealing. As a last hoorah before the insemination, Jenny follows her friend's advice and has one last wild night. Brett Evans is the chosen one. But everything changes when he reenters her life weeks later. Can Brett accept that Jenny is carrying someone else child?

The Plan is a sweet, funny, and steamy novella, with the perfect amount of twists and surprises. I loved the chemistry between Jenny and Brett and how they met.

Jenny is a sweet young woman. All she wants is to help her friends and pay her debts. So she becomes a surrogate. But meeting Brett makes her question everything. She falls really hard for him and she's afraid he won't accept her situation.
Brett is a gentle cowboy. He feels an immediate attraction to Jenny. But when he realizes she's a surrogate, he has a difficult time accepting it. Even though he makes mistakes, Brett is a very sweet guy.

Overall The Plan is a great novella, with a captivating story and awesome characters. Katie Ashley did a magnificent job and I can't wait to read more from her!

The Plan is a great novella that is a companion to Katie Ashley’s The Proposition Series.

I don’t feel that you have to read those books first before enjoying this story. This could be slightly spoilery for the series but nothing to shocking.

As always I love Katie Ashley’s writing. Her stories are entertaining and the characters are lovable. I always find myself getting swept up in the story and only put it down when I finish it. This book was no exception!!

This is a fairly quick read but it was lacking for nothing. We had everything you come to expect when picking up a book by this author. She gave us an entertaining storyline, lovable characters, drama, sexy times and an overall easy and enjoyable read. The pace flowed perfectly and she kept the story moving in a seamless fashion.

In this book we read about Jenny and Brett. Jenny is a senior in college and also working for her families business. She has decided to help out her friends and become the surrogate for them. Little does she know that meeting Brett is going to change things for her. So what do you do when a wrench is thrown into your well constructed plan?? Can Brett accept that Jenny is a surrogate for another couple?? Will they be able to get their HEA?? Read this story to find out.

This is one I would definitely recommend to anyone that is a fan of Katie Ashley’s. Surely one you won’t want to miss!!!

I absolutely loved Jenny and Brett. This is the perfect example that so many things happen at the wrong time ! When Jenny decides to become a surrogate for her gay friends it is the right time . When she decides to have one last fling she never expects to find a tall drink of water like Brett. The handsome cowboy falls onto her bed at she thinks the absolute wrong time ! I was also so excited to revisit old friends from the proposition series !! This was wonderfully sweet and oh so swoon worthy tale! Loved it !!

An absolutely wonderful addition to the Proposition series, it felt like going home getting to get a glimpse at some favorite characters from a few years back. The author casts the spotlight on Jenny, who is waitress at O'Malley's, her family's restaurant/bar. I remember her as a young woman with a crush on the very sexy Aidan Fitzgerald in the very first book. Now grown up, she is now going to be the surrogate for Connor (Emma's bestie from The Proposition) and Jeff and life couldn't be more complicated. She meets a hot cowboy who she wants more with but with her looming pregnancy, how could he ever truly want her?

Theirs is a sweet and tender kind of love story and had it been longer I would have read that version as well. Katie Ashley has a lock on these characters and continues to allow them to shine and be supportive and caring without all the unnecessary sweetness or drama. She simply allows them to live and even all these years later, I still have a soft spot in my heart for this crew.

Jenny and Brett are so worth your time. You won't be able to stop smiling as their story unfolds. It's quite simply lovely from start to finish.

This was my first read of Katie’s and it won’t be my last. Jenny is going to help Connor & Jeff’s dream come true by being their surrogate. Knowing she will be pregnant soon her friends tell Jenny too have one last fling and she has her eyes on the sexy cowboy Brett. Never did she think it would be anything other then a one night stand but seeing Brett weeks later changes everything. Reading this story my emotions were like a crazy roller coaster, because Jenny finally finds someone that she can see a future with but being pregnant with another mans baby could ruin her HEA. Amazing story that had me reading nonstop and wanting so much more.

Jenny has signed up to be a surrogate for Jeff and Connor. It's almost time for her to conceive and she's a little nervous. Her friend suggests she go out and find a man to let off a little steam with. She meets Brett and holy smokes does that man have a sense of humor! Being hot is definitely a bonus!!

I fell in love with Brett instantly, then I was mad at him, and then he redeemed himself! Great story, very different!!

Jennie is excited at the prospect of being a surrogate for her friends. She feels the need to explore a little before she takes on the honor of producing their child.
Brett is very attracted to the cute bartender in the city bar. He can't forget her and is completely on board with the idea of more. He later is blown away when he finds her again.
This is a sweet story and I was happy it ended the way it did.

Just didn’t care for this at all. 79% in and what is suppose to be a surprise pregnancy I think the author forgot and gives away what the gender of the baby is. Small short read otherwise I would have DNF this one.

I was so excited to read The Plan by Katie Ashley. When I read the description I knew I had to read it! It sounded so good and it was a fun read.

The Plan is a novella. I read it very quickly and I wish it was longer. Jenny has decided to be the surrogate for Jeff and Connor to help them start a family and to help pay for her schooling. However before the implantation of the embryo, she decides to have one last hoorah. She did not know that the next time she sees her one-night stand man (which she cannot stop thinking about), she would be pregnant. Not only that, but he is the brother to one of the future parents of the baby she is carrying! Talk about complicated!

The premise of the story was great, but since it was so short I felt like the characters were not very developed and everything moved too quickly. I mean we skipped weeks and months between chapters. The story felt very rushed and it was hard to feel connected to the characters. I mean we skipped from her being 6 weeks pregnant to Jenny about to give birth. This was a bit disappointing since I was so excited to read The Plan.

I felt like the story was a bit cheesy too. Since we didn't see much of the story, the parts we did see were very mushy. There was also not much conflict in the story and the little conflict that was there was resolved in a few pages. If you have ever fought with anyone over important issues, you know that it does not get resolved so quickly.

If you have read other books from Katie Ashley, I am sure you will enjoy this book. A few characters from her previous books make appearances in The Plan. The Plan is a companion novella to Ashley's Proposition Series.

Overall, The Plan by Katie Ashley is a quick entertaining read. It is a sweet and nice read without many surprises. I am probably gonna give this author another chance and read one of her full length novels to see if I like it more than her novella.

recensione a cura del blog “Libri Magnetici" by Meghan

Tre petali e mezzo.

The first books I've read of Ms. Ashley's was the Proposition series and I have loved reading her books ever since. I was glad to find out that this was another Proposition series book so that I can find out what has been going on with the various characters in this series.

This book is about Jenny O'Malley and Emma's friend Connor and his life partner Jeff. Connor and Jeff has not been successful in adopting a child so Jenny decided to help them have a baby by being their surrogate. Connor and Jeff wants to pay Jenny for doing this so that she can pay off her student loans. Jenny is thrill to be able to do this for her friends but is scared too. One of Jenny's friends tells her to go have a "fling"/one night stand before she gets pregnant and the more Jenny thinks about, the better she likes the idea. When the cowboy that she had served a few weeks ago shows back up at the bar and there was already an attraction from the first time they met, Jenny decides to take him up on his offer of sex. Brett Evans is one hot cowboy but the next day, Jenny leaves his hotel room before he wakes up because she knows that she can't get involved at this time since she's going to be pregnant!

When the surprise party that Connor and Jeff puts together for their friends to announce the pregnancy, Jenny is shocked to see Brett at the party. Come to find out that Brett is Jeff's brother! Boy did this just get complicated! Jenny and Brett decides to pursue a relationship after a freak out moment for Brett and it looks like the couple was meant to be.

Love the story and wish it was a little longer, more a book than a novella, because I would love to read more about Jenny and Brett's romance as well as being able to find out more about my other beloved characters!

Katie Ashley's story line of a surrogate finding romance at the wrong time was intriguing, but that's where The Plan left off.

Ashley's The Plan never quite took off in my book for a few reasons. The biggest was the lack of a climax. Well, there was a climax. A pretty steamy one filled with chemistry. However the real climax, the one that is supposed to sweep you into the story, well it never really happened. After the first few chapters, I pretty much could see the clear finish line. I kept waiting for Ashley to take it to that next level. I was disappointed that not once did Ashley question the paternity of the surrogacy to general some interest. I soooo wanted it to be dramatic. Instead, she provided us a solid, if somewhat run of the mill romance.
The second reason I can't give The Plan 4⭐ is the lack of attention to detail. There were a few times that Ashley contradicted her story. A good beta reader with attention to detail could have easily caught her telling us the babies gender just after saying it was a surprise. While this isn't a huge problem for readers, it's just not what I've come to know as I've read Ashley's previous works.
3.5*
Ashley can write one heck of a jaw dropping dropping story. I've read a few that have given me way more of a book hangover than my boss would like for me to admit. However The Plan, well let's just say, it's not her normal romance. At least this onewasn't for me.

The Plan is short, sweet with a heavy dose of YEEHAH ;) Hot cowboys for the win.

The situation is utterly incomprehensible to the average person. its the sort of thing you see on those daytime television shows like Jeremy Kyle and Jerry Springer. I can't go into too many details without spoiling the main twist in the already twisted plot lol.

Jenny is a wonderful, caring person who out of the kindness of her heart has agreed to act as a surrogate to a gay couple in order to make their dream of a family come true. Jenny is also friends with Emma (The Proposition) which is where the series crosses over and provides a brilliant opportunity to catch-up with Emma and Aidan.

When her friends convince her to have one last wild fling before the IVF procedure, Jenny throws caution to the wind and embraces the sizzling chemistry between herself and a smoking hot cowboy who has frequented the bar/restaurant her parents own.

Their night together passion fuelled and unforgettable although Jenny never expects to see her hot cowboy again apart from in her fantasies. However, fate has other plans for Jenny and the mystery cowboy when he re-enters her life in an unexpected and rather ironic fashion.

Can Jenny and Mr. Cowboy form a relationship when Jenny is pregnant even though the baby isn't hers (still can't get my head around that) as well as the way in which the one night stand is now firmly entrenched in Jenny's life? There is only one way to find out ;)

Quirky novella with an intriguing theme, surrogacy. Jenny is getting prepped to receive an embryo and have a baby for her married gay friends Connor and Jeff. She’s apprehensive and a little nervous about the route she’s about to begin. I find it incredibly difficult, carrying a baby for nine months and then giving it up to another couple. I found her incredibly brave and generous.

Right before starting on her surrogacy pregnancy, her friends convince her to have a fling and she decides to go for it. She already had a candidate, a cowboy who has been to her parent’s restaurant several times. They have great chemistry and she finds herself liking Brett a lot but is confused by her situation.

The kicker in this book is how to deal with falling in love with a guy while carrying a baby for a gay married couple. Then finding that the guy Jenny likes is related to one of her gay friends. Mind boggling!

The reading is light and fast and fun. The feelings of everyone felt spot on and the development of the plot was great. It felt like a complete story and I liked the theme a lot. I think the author did a great job dealing with such a delicate subject.

This was my first book by Katie Ashley, and if this is anything to go by it won't be my last either!! So very good, with so much packed into this novella, I just wish it were longer!!

Jenny is about to embark upon something that will change her whole life - she is being a surrogate for her friends Connor and Jeff. Not something she ever dreamed of doing, but felt compelled to help them knowing what they have been through in their fight to become parents. Jenny's friends suggest one last 'fling' for her before the pregnancy, and ends up having one night with Brett, the steamy hot sexy cowboy who she never dreams she would ever see again.

Its not until Connor and Jeff throw a 'pregnancy unveiling' party does she set eyes again on Brett, but what is he doing there at that party, and how does he know Connor and Jeff??!!

This was a great read, full of love, caring, friendships and life throwing a spanner in the works, not everything turns out as planned!!

The Plan is a quick read. It's a story about how life can surprise us and love can be found when and how we least expect it.

Jenny is about to embark on a unique journey, one that is selfless and full of love - but also one that some people wouldn't understand. When the guy she likes comes back into the picture, she decides to go for one night before getting on with her plans, after all - she'll probably never see him again, right?! WRONG!

Brett can't believe it when he discovers Jenny at his brother's party, even more, he doesn't know how to react to why she's there, but he also can't stay away.

The Plan delivers an emotional story as Jenny and Brett find themselves growing closer, as she prepares to bring a child into the world - a child who isn't her own - but in fact Brett's niece or nephew. I really enjoyed how this adds a touch of drama between them.
