Sloane has everything she thought she ever wanted- a great career, a great apartment, great clothes, a life she had worked hard for.
Until one night, one chance encounter, one decision that changed everything.
With no options left, she enlists the help of Quinton Baird & Associates, who promptly inform her that she has to leave it all - the career, the apartment, the life she had worked so hard to build for herself - behind.
If all that wasn’t enough, her entire future - and life in general - was in the hands of a man whose coworkers called ‘The Ghost.’ Because that was what he did; he ghosted people, hid them, gave them new lives, made them impossible to find.
With no other choice, she agrees to his terms, climbs in a car with him, and travels almost clear across the country toward her new life. But the long hours on the road - and even longer hours in cabins and hotel rooms - together start to show her things. Like how unhappy she had actually been, how hollow her life was, how much she had denied herself in the name of superficial success.
And maybe, just maybe, how much she was starting to see how wrong first impressions can be, and how much a person can begin to mean to you when you decided to let them in…

ღ Gunner & Sloane Story – the ghost & the duchess I love when opposites attract
She is a business woman who soon learns that her life has no true meaning He is a ghost in the night
No one truly knows the price you pay for witnessing an awful crime. How you give up everything you love & worked your whole life for, only to have everything pull away from you cuz the cops & other agencies failed to protect you. You need to turn to A fixer or in Sloane Blythe-Meuller case a Ghost
I just loved the delicious sexual tension from beginning between to end these two
O 💖 Hope you enjoy this read 💖
⬇Always remember⬇
📚 Always keep in mind this is just my opinion+ Also I wouldn’t never discourage anyone from reading this book.
on to the next book, I believe Sugar (The Henchmen MC Series) is up next in the Navesink Bank Universe
Yay I’m slowly but surely making my through this Universe
The Ghost was teeming with delicious sexual tension from page one. This is definitely one of my new favorites from Jessica Gadziala. The character connection between Gunner and Sloane was rock solid. The secondary characters were compelling. The sex was off the charts Hottt.🔥The plot was well crafted. The pace kept me engaged throughout the entire story. This is a brilliant addition to Miss Gadziala's impressive library of work. I highly recommend this series.
Prepare to meet the ultimate badboy/good man. This is the kind of ghost story that will melt the hearts of every soul who reads it. NO, Jessica Gadziala hasn’t gone soft on us, her anti-heroes haven’t lost any of their edge or their honor or their heart.
Gunner is THE GHOST because he is good at what he does. He makes people disappear for their own good, but when the beautiful, successful, yet cold, Sloane with-the-hyphenated-last-name enters the offices of Quinton Baird & Associates, her life and her safety becomes Gunner’s responsibility. Too bad he isn’t too sure she is worthy of his talents, but her money is good and she paid a lot to lose all she has worked for. Now Gunner will deliver her to a new life, a new beginning and wash his hands of ever knowing her.
What Gunner wasn’t expecting from the Ice Queen was a woman terrified of life, a product of an upbringing that left her scarred and needing to prove to the world and herself that she is more than she was given credit for. Maybe they have more in common than meets the eye. Maybe sometimes you CAN get a second chance to make a good impression…and sometimes love finds you when you least expect it.
Jessica Gadziala has raised the bar one more time! She is known for her grit, her dark romance and no holds barred style of writing. NO, she definitely has not gone soft, her writing has grown, her characters are even more brilliantly developed and they are swoon-worthy, wrapped in a shell of armor, just waiting for the right someone to break that shell and give them a reason to believe in love and trust.
There is nothing more magical than a hero with a heart, willing to give it away or a heroine whose damaged past can be soothed by a good man to believe in. Guess that makes Jessica Gadziala a magician with her words!
I received a complimentary ARC edition from Jessica Gadziala!

This is book two of the Professional’s series, that also takes place in Navesink Bank; the town where the Henchmen are from!
Gunnar; who is known as the Ghost... is in charge of creating a new life and identity for Sloane. She had witnessed a drug lord murder someone and because the murderer knows who she is, Sloane needs to get a new life.
I loved her and Ghost together, and their trip across the country together was quite amusing to me as well! My only complaint with this book was that there wasn’t a ton of excitement going on! I could have used some adventure! All in all though, I still am thoroughly enjoying the Navesink Bank town’s series!
I liked it, inspite of an unexpected pace in storytelling...
A girl witnessed a coldblooded murder. She reported it to the police, they put a protection on her BUT she was NOT only seen by the murderer, a cruel drug lord Rodrigo Cortez, that he found her and hurt her. And now, she seeks refuge and help with Quin (we meet him and the guys in The Fixer) and his agency...and what she needs is to disappear. Leave her old life and start a new one, from scratch.
What she needs is a Ghost.
And Gunner is the right man to do the job. He will provide her a new identiy and a new life BUT he will also GET to KNOW the REAL person, hiding behind her money heightened appearences...and what he sees and learns about Sloane Blythe-Meuller will be so much more than he expected to ever find...cause he never does that, he never gets close to clients he needs to ghost...and before Sloane is ghosted, he will be the one to mend her BUT will it be enough to walk away after the job is done...
I liked the drama and the slow burn aspect of the romance, the characters really did get to know one another before they fell in love...and all the time I was expecting smth to happen...I needed that turning point in action when you find the closure...there wasn't any specific action, it was just mentioned as a solution, given NOT described, and I have to admit that such slower pace nearing the "finish" line of the story, actually diminished the general impact it should have been.
However, if you are NOT a thrill seeker, then this slow burn, sort of a second chance romance drama will work just perfectly for you! Enjoy, cause if you've read Jessica Gadziala's books before, you know what you are in for :)
DNFed @35%. I feel like there's no chemistry between these two. Hero is an ass. I don't like him. Heroes in this series don't very much care about the women because they shoved them in a room in their building. Just like hero in book 1.
I like this series and the whole team are going to be great future heroes.
Gunner and Sloane were pretty good. I liked their story and how we got the chance to read about them after a few years being together.
A few things that bothered me was that for the most part of the book their just pussy footing around their chemistry and don't do much about it, and towards the end they have sex(which btw there are only a couple sex scenes), stay away from each other for a while, get back together and live happily ever after. It's pretty slow for the most part of the book and in this one there was no violence at all. Which I liked. And I would like a few scenes where the whole gang and their women interact with each other.
Other than that I love this author and some of her books are my favorite, and I have re read them a few times. Can't wait for the rest of the "Professionals" to get in my hands.
P.S. Hopefully Kai and Jules are getting their own book!!!
I'll be quick because I'm already on book 3 and I want to get back to it asap so I'm not gonna summarize what it's about since we all have read it.
It's not only Gunner that I loved here. It was Sloane as well. And that connection that they have. Oh my freaking god!
I know that Ghost may come across as crude and sometimes rude but to be frank that's what I loved about him in the Fixer and that's why this book is so freaking wonderful. I don't like people who sugarcoat everything and he's just like that, a straight shooter who calls it like he sees it. And I appreciate that.
I must mention Sloane, she was a great heroine, one of my favourites this year, no doubt. She is strong, and has been through hell and back and she has a spine and a moral code that I can admire.
In addition to all the goodness, this book is a slow burn so that's like a cherry on top of everything. The chemistry they have is delicious, the internal battle of Gunner was what kept me on the edge of my seat. Sooooooo freaking good!!!!!
Summing up, I think this author and I, well, we just clicked. Especially this series and I. I need to mention that the writing is so good, you just don't want this book to end. And each and every character in this series is so well thought, so layered and so complicated, that I have a feeling I'm gonna love this entire series. Now off to Kai's story. Super excited!!!

Oh-My-Fucking-God!!!
I'm swooning here, y'all!
I read this series 3 years ago and I can still remember all these books like it was yesterday. This is how good they are.
And Gunner and Sloan's story is still one of my absolute favourites.
I think I'll jump to The Babysitter, Ranger's story, another favourite of mine.
If you haven't read this series, I truly suggest you fix this mistake asap. 😏
Sloane is a handbag designer and owner of her own company, she's worked really hard to get where she is until she witnesses a murder. Doing the right thing she goes to the police and agrees to testify, the murderer however isn't going down so easily. Even with professional security companies Sloane's not safe, when he manages to stab her she goes to Quinn for the Ghost to relocate her
Gunner pegs Sloane as an uppity rich woman from their first meet but on the road to her new location he finds himself surprisingly drawn to the woman behind the professional mask. But his job is to get the client settled into their new life and leave them behind....only for the first time Gunner's finding it hard to stick to the job
********* This was ok but I wasn't wowed, maybe it's because I recently read a few books by this author but her writing style, certain words and phrases, are used in almost every book. The plot and the mcs are always different but it's starting to feel a bit too familiar
I get that Gunner needed to be in charge but he was too bossy for me. He pushed Sloane sometimes in directions I'm not sure she would've chosen. He was also rude and very uncommunicative. He was sweet in the epilogue and his decision to kill for Sloane was one of the things I really liked but at the end of it all Gunner wasn't my kinda guy We also didn't really get to know much about Gunner including the details of his past
Sloane however I liked, and that's something I always admire about this author. A lot of the times her books are guaranteed to have strong female mcs. Sloane dragged herself, through hard work and determination , from poverty to being a very successful designer. She was creative, independent without being a stubborn know it all and generally a likable fmc.
I didn't like that it was her phone call to Gunner that spurred their reunion but all in all this was an ok read
As usual excellent epilogues
H was a ONS/ no commitment type of guy h was busy with her career so she hadn't been with anyone in a few years No cheating or OW/OM drama h was attacked and stabbed before we meet her
I was a lot more invested in this book than in the first one. I just think that the rough and tumble guys are more my jam than the suits. The writing is smooth and there is an easiness to it.
I frigging loved Gunnar and this is kind of an opposites attract book. I had a lot of fun and fingers crossed the series shall get better. I even liked Sloane as she wasn’t who she tried to be in the end.
This story was really great. It wasn't my favorite as I felt the action was really tepid but the angst in the story was great. I really enjoyed the longing between them. 4 stars! ~Ratula
But even then I wasn't a fan of the hero - rude man, so crude and unapologetic insulting. The series-name says 'Professionals', but this one was very unprofessional. Ugh! The only good thing he did - he killed the villain.
The Ghost is another irresistible story from the fabulous Jessica Gadziala. We met the team, led by Quinton Baird, in the previous book in this new series, The Fixer. Quin leads a badass crew who "fix" situations, ranging from negotiating the fee (in lieu of, um, death) for a filthy rich playboy crashing a borrowed yacht while cavorting with the wife of a Russian VIP to cleanup of bodies. Gunner is part of that crew - handsome, tattooed, irritating and grumpy, he is the very best at his job: he can make people who want disappear become invisible. Hence, his nickname "Ghost."
When Gunner's latest assignment shows up at Quin's office, he promptly draws conclusions from her appearance (gorgeous but very high maintenance) - the hair, the expensive clothes, the 12 designer suitcases and the FACE, which could launch a thousand ships. Yes, he automatically assumes that she's a snotty, spoiled socialite and, as usual, his charming (not) demeanor rubs the new client the wrong way.
Beautiful, successful (but uptight) designer Sloane is in seriously bad trouble. Having inadvertently witnessed a cold-blooded murder and like a good citizen, reported it to the cops, she is now running for her life. It turns out that the murderer she reported is actually an infamous psycho drug dealer, whose retribution to people who piss him off includes not only killing those guys, but raping and mutilating their wives and daughters for good measure. And now Sloane is on his list. Having barely escaped with her life after being attacked and stabbed in her shower (and this was WITH a hired bodyguard), she turned to Quin's team for help as a last resort. Gunner has to "ghost" her, abandoning everything she has worked so hard to achieve without even a phone call or a backward glance.
Sparks and fireworks fly as grouchy Gunner hauls Sloane across the country, and the story of their bonding is compelling. There's plenty of excitement, but for me, the beauty of this story was how they gradually learn about each other and overcome the snap judgments made from their first impressions. So thrilled to receive an ARC of this awesome book and can't wait to learn more about the Fixer team!
Man patika! Interesanti, dinamiski un bez liekas drāmas vai neveiklām šausmu epizodēm. Autore neiegrimst pārāk lielos pārspīlējumos, un stāstam pat gribas noticēt.
Turklāt, romāns satur man patīkamus guilty pleasure elementus - roadtrip, ieputināšanu kādā vientuļā namiņā un alpha varoni, kurš nav psihopāts.
Loved this gunner and Sloane are amazing. Gunner thinks that sloane is your typical rich girl but she grew up a hard life and do everything to make her life better. when she witnesses a murder she meets gunner aka the ghost. He has to help her disappear but the last thing they expected was to fall in love
5⭐ not because of the ott romance but because this was a wonderful second chance at life story. It had me feeling so many emotions and I really felt for Sloane. Gunner came off as an asshole the first time he met her, but I ended up loving him in the end. I would say the romance was on the subtle end but it makes sense based on the time frame. Their relationship developed in a real way, if that makes sense. If you're one who loves epilogues, this is where their love really shines. It all comes together wonderfully. Highly recommend giving this a read.
The Fixers are comprised of 6 men and one woman who are all kick ass and each has a specialty they bring to the table. Gunner's specialty is Ghosting.. No not the act where one dater ends a relationship by simply disappearing. Gunner makes people who lives are in danger safely disappear. None of the men or women he has “hidden” were ever found.
His latest assignment is a woman who witnessed a drug lord murdering a man. After the cops and other agencies failed to protect her she is recommended to Quinton Baird's group. Quinton then gives the job to Gunner.
Gunner's plans to get his assignment to the location of her new life runs into a few snags. One of the biggest being he falls for the woman who once he delivers to her new life he will never see again.
Love these gruff alpha men who never think they are going to be like their friends who fall hard when they find the one..
I was a bit sceptical going into this book knowing it was gonna be rough and tough Gunner aka Ghost going on this adventure with a high class business women like Sloane but........ OMG did it work!! Talk about opposites attract but fit each other like a puzzle! The chemistry and making each other step out of comfort zones was exactly what I was hoping for and got.
During what I am calling the "Ghosting period" Sloane gets to explore things about herself she never even considered trying. Gunner gives her the confidence to see what she can do and she also meets an outgoing talkative friend named Auddie, I think she is the JG character I have related to the most, let's hope she gets to tell her story.
I can see The Fixer Firm quickly becoming a fan favorite.
I absolutely loved Gunner and Sloane’s story. After having s less than ideal childhood, Sloane has made a name for herself, until one fateful night when she sees some big she shouldn’t. After seeing a man can get killed, Sloane realizes she needs major help and Gunner is the man to help her. The only way she can be safe is to “disappear” or become a ghost. Gunner is used to dealing with clients, but he’s not used to caring about them like he does Sloane. No matter how much he tries to get her off his mind, she is always there at the forefront. The chemistry between these characters is off the charts. This couple is a true case of opposites attract
DISCLAIMER TO MY FELLOW GOODREADER This review is my personal opinion and may contain: spoilers, quotes, rants and swearing.
Gunner has a specific skill set that he gained from his years of being part of Special Forces. He makes people disappear for any reason as long as they are a paying job. His latest client is a stuck up wealthy woman who was in the wrong place at the wrong time. As he works on moving her to the new life he mapped out, Gunner realizes the woman on the surface is armor. The woman underneath is pure, simple and someone he would want to get to know. But this is a temporary job.
“Life’s short. Don’t waste it unhappy. Take the chance you have now to be happy. You’ve done the making the big name and lots of money thing. It didn’t do it for you. Find what does. Do that.”
Sloane Blythe-Mueller moved to New York City at age 18 to make a life for herself. She became a successful businesswoman in charge of her own mini empire. She had the status, wealth and stability her childhood never afforded her. But when she witnesses a crime, she is forced to leave her world behind. The man tasked with “ghosting” her made her realize that she was not living life.
“Just to kiss him, this man who was able to see underneath me, see what was really there, who I felt safe enough around to share some of my past with. In just a few days. It felt consuming. It overtook me.”
I was really hoping the stand alone status of The Fixer would turn into a series because the supporting cast of characters simply needed their chance to be heard. Jessica Gadziala did what we were all hoping and made the The Professionals series. Book #2 was very satisfying. There was a self discovery theme. Looking forward to the other books, especially Kai and Jules. Train wreck I must have.
Cliffhanger – no (book #2 of series) POV - Gunner & Sloane
Where do I start... The Ghost is the second book in the Professionals series by Jessica Gadziala. From the get go I had so much admiration for Sloane. She keeps her cool even though she is in so much pain, mentally and physically.
She has witnessed an awful crime and has to leave her life, her company and everything she has worked so hard for in her life. Gunner assumes conclusions from her appearance but he can see that she's in pain and in his gruff way does want to help her.
Being stuck in a car and road tripping it across the country helps melt some of Gunners gruffness and grouchiness towards Sloane and he begins to see the real woman behind the designers clothes.
I hardly trusted anyone. I barely trusted myself. But I trusted him. Implicitly. Without hesitation. That, well, was terrifying. Because I could get used to it. And I was only going to lose it. Sooner rather than later.
These two were made for each other and the chemistry coming from them was exciting, I just couldn't wait to read their story. I couldn't put this book down. I read it in one sitting and that says a lot, I rarely get to do this anymore. As always there was a great epilogue and I loved hearing about the other men within this series. I'm very excited for more in this series.
Wow. I went into this knowing that it was going to be good since it was written by Jessica, but not knowing what else to expect. I was blown away! Gunner is the "Ghost", a professional who is great at hiding people so they are never found. Sloan has witnessed an awful crime and her life is now in great danger. Gunner is given the job of establishing a new life for Sloan far from her expensive life in New York. At first the two are like oil and water, but as the long road trip carries on, they both open up to each other, and get to see the real "them." They fight off the attraction, knowing that they will soon have to go there own way.
On there last night together they finally give in to temptaion, but the next morning everything changes.
I don't want to give anything away, but the sexual tension is crazy and we meet the elusive Ranger.
The ending kept me smiling and as always the epilogue keeping you not so patiently wanting more!
YES! YES! YES! I seriously love JG. I don't even know what else to say at this point. Gunner and Sloane are two of my new favorite characters. I love the progression of their relationship as well as their own indivudial stories. I wish it just kept going, that epilouge just added to an already fantastic story! Well done JG!!! Cant wait for the next one.
Love it! I really fell in love with this book. Great chemistry between Gunner and Sloane. One of my new favorites. I really fell in love with Ranger and even more with Kai.
