¡Qué bonito es este libro!
Quiero aclarar, que este libro es puro coleccionismo, porque en cuanto a información, creo que no añade nada que no sepamos. Lo que sí me ha gustado es como en este libro podemos encontrar todas las varitas de la saga y curiosidades de por qué las hicieron así.
Yo lo he disfrutado mucho a pesar de haber sabido la mayoría de información. Si sois fans de Harry Potter, creo que es un libro que no puede faltar en vuestra colección ^^

3.25 stars...rounding is not an option. An important phrase that is excluded from the title, but is found on and in the book itself, is "From the Films of..."

Who cannot appreciate a Harry Potter book that is centered around providing beautiful and detailed pictures of the most important props of the movies? THE WANDS. Although it should not be surprising, I find myself taken aback by the fact that all eight of the Harry Potter movies had an art director dedicated specifically to the creation, crafting and manufacturing of "...all wands and broomsticks". There is no question about how important wands are throughout the entire series.

In the world of magic,...a wand...is a force, an extension of intent. It embodies the very character of its holder.

Then, why just 3 stars? I guess I expected just a little more from the book. For instance, of all the wands shown in the book, the author is only able to provide information about the cores of just a handful of them. It is necessary to note that the information about the wand elements are clearly defined in the introduction, which speaks to the fact that "...all wands have cores comprised of something from a magical creature". Then, there is the fact that, for some, both the character and wand information are very limited. Take for example, the pages that speak to Vincent Crabbe and his wand. There are two pages for a whopping two sentences.

Overall, I enjoyed the images and information provided. I found myself wishing that I could own some of the wands pictured, even from secondary or tertiary characters--the tactile details make them sheer beauties. If you are a fan of the Harry Potter cinematic universe, then I do not think you will be disappointed.

Pri prekladaní posledných stránok som sa cítil, akoby som prekladal pornopríručku o tom, kto má aký dlhý "prútik". Inak opäť... je to skôr obrazová a zberateľská publikácia. Odporúčam do zbierky pre hardcore fanúšikov.

Another great Harry Potter fan book. This book gives a description of all the main characters wands, what they are made of etc. You need to be a fan to enjoy this book. Very good quality book worth the money if buying as a gift for someone.

This was such an awesome book. Every important wizard's wand is included in this book with up-close and detailed photographs. The photos were breathtaking. It is almost like you can reach out and grab them out of the book itself. Every Harry Potter fan should add this to their collection.

My personal favorites were: Hermione Granger, Ginny Weasley, Luna Lovegood, Professor Lupin, Professor Slughorn, Scabior, Alecto Carrow, and Xenophilius Lovegood.

Para coleccionistas potterhead, es una maravilla. La edición es impecable, se aprecian muy bien las varitas, y hay de todos y cada uno de los personajes, increíble. En cuanto a la información/texto que contiene, es poco, pero creo que con el concepto que tiene este tipo de libros, es suficiente.

ADORO este libro.

Primero porque las varitas es una de las cosas que más me fascinan del mundo mágico: los diferentes tipos de madera y de núcleos, por qué esos y no otros, las características, el poder mayor o menor según la varita, el misterio de si tienen conciencia propia...

Segundo porque planeo tener una colección con mis varitas favoritas y este libro es como un catálogo. Jajajajajaja.

Estoy fatal, lo sé. Sólo se me puede querer u odiar, no hay punto medio.

Bueno, a lo que estamos. Que el libro me parece una chulada para coleccionistas y amantes de las varitas.

This is a quick, mostly visual driven book. I will say that the close-up images of all the wands from the series showed the true craftsmanship of the props department, the attention to detail and their logic behind why certain embellishments were added really highlight this as an art. Small descriptions of the characters and why their wands look the way they do accompany each picture, but nothing super profound is included. A nice piece for collectors though and again, just a gorgeous bit to look at.

I feel a little uncomfortable reading this just now (JKR, why do you keep saying transphobic stuff???), but the book itself is good. It's got lots of little details about the process of crafting the wands, and some quotes from some of the actors about how they liked their wands or what they thought of the wandwork. Unsurprisingly, most of the actors thought their wand was the coolest one.

Honestly, the thought that goes into these wands and how they were made deserves 5 stars. I think it's absolutely amazing how they made them. I think that the idea to showcase them in a book is great, most of us probably don't have the money to buy all of them.

The book however isn't perfect. The texts next to the characters is something that anyone who has ever read the books or saw the movies knows, it doesn't really add much. The pictures, while beautiful, could have been done better sometimes. Some wands are difficult to see because of the background, some should have had a different angle in my opinion to truly show us the amazing craftsmanship that went into this and others are supposed to have pink stones in the middle (Umbridge) but we can't see that because they took the photo on a dark background (so now it looks black). Most pictures look great though, maybe 5 or so could have been done better.

The book is a lot of fun if you are a Harry Potter fan and you would like to get a better look at them. If you are looking for something like that, get this book.

As detailed and thoughtful as the wands themselves, all the hard work and thought put in by the art department and even in wand choreography, was fun and fascinating to read. I love how they designed wands that represented their characters but had a personality of their own. I also enjoyed seeing the wands and explanations from less recognizable wizards in the movie, like some of the death eaters. This makes a great Christmas gift for any Harry Potter fan who already has every edition of the books.

Interesting and simple, but at times too simple. Why mention a character having more than one wands, but refuse to show more than one? Sometimes the descriptions are somewhat lacking too, but they often have input from both actor/actress as well as the designers for better understanding of the wands.
The extendable pages for larger wands, are an amazing touch too.

This book is so neat! It was fun to look at beautiful photos of all of the wands and learn a bit more about what went into their design. The book also has facts about each wand owner, and while I didn't necessarily learn anything new, I still enjoyed reading each characters bio.

This collection of wands is the perfect book for any Harry Potter fan who wants to know the details of the wands and how they were made for the movies. I find that the more I learn about how much effort was put into even the smallest addition to the movies the more I appreciate them. 🙂

I liked the book. It had some information about character wands I didn't know, and I learned a bit about the actors who portrayed the characters as well. I never imagined that so many of one wand would be made per character, but in one actor's case it made perfect sense. (LOL) I highly recommend this book if you like learning about the props.
