King Arthur and Her Knights #4-6

King Arthurs and Her Knights: Books 4-6: Embark, Enlighten, Endeavor

Rate this book
In a place and time not her own, one woman must risk everything to protect her life, her kingdom, and her heart.

Britt Arthurs has finally settled into her role as the substitute King Arthur. She’s even made peace with her growing feelings for her surprisingly young and handsome wizard advisor, Merlin. If only it could last.

It took two years for Britt to be crowned King of Britain, raise Camelot, and establish the Round Table. It takes only a moment to bring everything crashing down on her.

When Britt's biggest secret--her true gender--is revealed, she realizes that there is a price for her lies. For the knights of Camelot--whose loyalty she has won through blood, sweat, and tears--might never forgive her.

Perhaps even more devastating, at a time when Britt needs him most, Merlin becomes aware of her love and pushes her away in the most painful of ways. Merlin won’t let anything, including his own heart, stand in his way of a united Britain. Or so he tells himself.

Can Britt reclaim her knights’ loyalty and reconcile with the wizard who she loves as more than a counselor?

These next three books are once again bundled together, along with a few short stories. The bundle definitely is better than reading each separately. I find that each story feels too short for me by itself. Still, they are quick to read and flow well from one to the next.

In this trio, you will still mostly focus on King Arthur, but you also see some more point of view shifts than in the previous three. Also, the sub plots that arc through the series begin to become more important.

Definitely read the stories in order, but if you enjoyed the first ones, I think you will enjoy these too. Shea’s humorous style makes the tales quite enjoyable and it is easier to suspend that disbelief to simply immerse myself in the tale.

Heartwarming Arthurian tale

In this boxset, Britt must learn to grow and let her knights grow as well. She doesnt get to quest much and is avoiding wars as much as possible but she is still learning how to be king. Her men find out she is a girl in the worst way possible and she is sure she has lost them but Merlin trusts her to handle it in her own way. Mordred makes an appearance but Britt is unsure how to handle him as she knows he is part of Arthurs death but not how. When Lady Vivien shows up, Guinevere becomes Britts unlikely companion. Cant wait to see what happens next!

The story continues in this second omnibus. Britt has gathered the knights of the Round Table and sent them out to do chivalrous deeds, but someone is still trying to kill her as she strives to unit all of Britain. At the same time, her secret threatens to undo all the good she and Merlin have created.

There’s more quests and fighting in this second part, but there’s also more internal opposition and betrayal. A really fun read!

Fun and Engaging King Arthur Retelling

I continue to be surprised by how much I am enjoying this series. I love K. M. Shea and her work, but I just didn’t think this premise could work half as well as it does. I’m often laughing at Britt’s reactions to things and her banter with Merlin and others. The first 6 stories went entirely too quickly, and I am saddened that only 1 more remains.

Great :)

I love this next set of books in the series. Highly entertaining to read, great characters, no smut, and wonderful interplay between people. I love the humor and tenacity of Britt and how she handles being found out as a girl... or more accurately how she turns things around. Highly entertaining.

Heroine for Heroes

It is no wonder that Excalibur pulled Britt Arthurs from the future to establish Medieval Camelot. She is a strong character with the heart to win anyone’s loyalty. Like Britt, I’m still waiting for the other shoe to drop with Lancelot and Mordred. I hope there will be more to come.

Didn’t realize I could love reading these books more than when I first picked them up but I do. I mean it’s been close to SIX YEARS since I last read them so that may be why.
But I love Britt and her interactions with knights and Merlin and how she takes the challenges and twists in this medieval Britain. It’s just too much fun

The adventures of Britt Arthurs continues.
The book is left very open ended and I suspect that there will be more to come.
The traditional story of King Arthur and the Knights of the round table continues.
Quests and adventures, opposition and the establishment of friendships continue throughout this story.

Love this series

Such an original and interesting twist on the legend of King Arthur. The plot is well thought out and well paced. I liked the POV changes. Mordred has always been my favorite character from the Camelot legends. I won't spoil it, but I liked the way his character was written in this story.

Great story

I would never have thought of a female King Arthur...now I can hardly imagine it any other way! KM Shea has woven a story so wonderful that I am enthralled by it. I'm off to download the last book, I have to know what happens!!!

This story grew on me. I couldn't go without hearing what was going to happen. The characters developed and the story grew richer. I still think this series of the is best viewed as one book with three parts.

loved it

This was a fascinating idea. I love this idea of a modern-day woman going back in time and becoming King Arthur and having to hide but she’s a woman that even makes the story work out better.

I really like the book is clean enough for any age to read

I've really enjoyed this take on Arthur and the gang. Plus the bundle of the three novels and some shorts has this feeling more like the epic tale it is, instead of short reads.

The Saga Continues

As much fun as ever. Interesting twists and turns. I can't help but agree with Britt. Stay out of Ireland, Merlin!

Great historical fantasy

Fast reads. Felt like a kid again reading about Arthur's court. I love the twist that Arthur is a woman and that camaraderie and fealty know no gender.

K.M. Shea has created a new mythology for King Arthur and it's a great read. You'll be compelled to read on and want more.

When I finished these three books, even though I had only bought them that day (yes, I'm a fast reader, but was still 370 pages) I had to buy the final book so that I knew how the story concluded.

I like a book with a decent ending where everything gets neatly wrapped up. However, there are still twists and turns. In my mind I guessed how the story would wrap up, and I was wrong. Some parts were on the right lines, but in a different way to what I was expecting. I was happy with the ending, and pleased I read the series.

Fantastic!!

This is my second time reading King Arthur and Her Knights books 4-6, and it was just as good as the first! It's fun to read new characters' reactions to Britt and her "faerie blood" that makes her so beautiful (but not because she's a woman, lol). It's also very enjoyable to watch her utter dislike for Guinevere and Lancelot just because of what she knew of them in the 21st century: adulterers who destroy Camelot, so she's predisposed to hate them and want nothing to do with either person... and then they (mostly Guinevere) grow on her throughout the books.
Witty dialogue, fast-paced narrative, and let us never forget the Lancelot Hate Club!

Like the whole series

It doesn’t feel done yet, assuming more are coming but it isn’t a cliffhanger so I’m good with the current stopping point. I liked this much more than I thought I would. Strong female leaders and great storytelling. A female King in the high point of the “Good Ole Boy Brotherhood “ a feat of epic proportions. This is an epic with good foundations and world building. Thumbs Up.
