Could have been a great read but ended up being an okay read.
Way to repetitive and overly wordy. The redundant repetition is proof that the story has been obviously stretched out. I don't know why the author did this.
There are various editing errors and the writing becomes a sloppy towards the end.
It started off great. Interesting and intriguing. Loaded with action and suspense.
But, it kept getting bogged down with unneeded words.
The premise is great and I think about 75% of the book is well written. By the way, this is science fiction. There is a serum created that changes the dna of humans to make them stronger, etc. That is definitely Sci-Fi!.
Not only is Reaper and Caroline interesting characters, so are a couple of others in the story. The action is fast paced and 'Everything' happens quickly. Other then the prolog, the whole story takes place within just a few days. This includes the 'Insta-Attraction'.
The romance is adult and there are a couple of nice steamy scenes.
I will definitely be reading book 2 in this series.

The intimate scenes are romantic and adult.
The characters and world build are interesting.
Some of the scenes are really great.
Others, not so much.
My problems are many;
There are various editing errors.
The world and character builds don't go far enough to really make them great reads.
Way to much repetition.
Some of the errors in the scenes are sudden changes of clothing etc.
This makes the read jumpy and in some cases keeps the scene from making sense.
Almost all of my problems with this story could have been fixed by a good Beta Reader or a Decent Editor.
If Ms. Cross hasn't gotten one of those since she published these books, she Really needs to invest her time into changing that.

Very few errors.
My problems are the repetition and unending internal thoughts.
Other thoughts later.
It also lost a lot of the sci-fi elements. They were barely touched on.
I hated the TSTL moments on both mc's parts.
It wasn't horrible but it just isn't enough for me.
Each book seemed to be more lacking than the one before in the elements I need to feel really involved in the story.
It is a middle of the road read.

Operation Mayhem Boxed Set (books 1-3) by Lindsay Cross
MAYHEM’S WARRIOR (book 1)
I always enjoy reading Ms. Cross’s books even when they stretch plausibility and this one had me wondering just how some of the things could really happen BUT I would then think, “This is fiction and in fact almost more science fiction-fantasy than just military romantic suspense. I enjoyed finding out more about Reaper and his team, how they became what they are and enjoyed finding out that Caroline is saved BUT there were some issues I had that made me wonder…
What I liked:
* Reaper’s strength and commitment to his team
* Caroline’s willingness to do what it took
* The team’s wish not to harm and their willingness to commit to something better even when deceived.
* Mira – the nurse that helped Reaper and Caroline – I hope they help her in the future
* Wanting to find out more about Reaper’s team in future books
* The action packed adventure the two were on
* Wanting to experience Caroline’s meet-up with her twin sister
What I didn’t like:
* Caroline’s naivety on some fronts
* The believability factor – especially related to the nursing skills Caroline deftly managed (that I took time to learn), the ability to do things I believe might be humanly impossible (okay he is enhanced but still) and a few other things.
MAYHEM’S DESIRE (book 2)
Dr. Melissa Averton has a sister and her sister is in trouble so who does she call when the one person she thinks she can depend won’t answer his phone? Her sister, of course. Whitney has a stalker that wants her dead. Melissa knows some men more than capable of making sure Melissa is not killed and that is just what they do. In this story the super soldiers are still in need of the fix Melissa is working on but it is more Whitney and enhanced Hick’s story than that of the entire team. At the end of the book one threat has been eliminated – the one against Whitney – but – there is still the main bad guy still out there and his weapon – another genetically changed soldier – has his identity hinted at. I am eager to find out who will have their story told next as there are plenty of hunky alpha males waiting for their HEA’s and of course…a cure is needed by all of them before the series can end.
MAYHEM’S HERO (book 3)
Men who took an oath to honor and serve were hoodwinked into joining an experiment that left them in dire straits. This series deals with the men, finding a cure for their altered beings, getting revenge AND the women they end up falling in love with.
In this book Diggs meets his mate in Audra while he is saving her brother’s injured K-9 partner being abused by her father. Her brother was sent home in a coffin but Trigger managed to survive and was sent home to a fate almost worse than death. With Audra leery of all military men her encounter with the Mayhem team had her sneaking away as quickly as she could not realizing just what horrible options there were waiting for outside the Mayhem compound.
There is violence, animal abuse, military action, evil to thwart, trust to be won, love to be enjoyed and there are more men waiting their mates so more books to read in the near future. I will say that this book is more sci-fi fantasy in some ways because the men are super-men and this time Audra was capable of doing more than most after undergoing the ordeal she did. That is fine in a book like this because it is a fantasy more than a reality and fun without having to be based in reality.
Do I want to read more of the series? Yes
Do I recommend the book? Yes

“Mayhems Warrior” – Part 1
Captain T.K. Reaper has one mission only… Save his team! He and his team volunteered to be a part of Project Mayhem but what they didn’t know was… their DNA would be altered and only one person can save them all….. She was who he needed to save now. Get her out alive…. She was the only person who could save them all. Nothing else mattered. Growing up in foster care he had no one. His team was his family and he would save them and stop at nothing to do so.
Caroline… a Senator’s daughter had no idea that saying no to this one man she was meant to marry would cause her so much pain. Her blood is the key and they are slowly killing her by ciphering it out of her. He is evil and he only wants her in order to create monsters. She has no strength… She cannot keep her eyes open…
He has her but now he needs to escape and keep her safe. They cannot recapture her…. What he didn’t expect was a little spitfire. Even in her state, she is sassy. Why does she captivate him so much… Is it because her blood runs through his veins? He will kill anyone who tries to harm her.
Caroline has to save him. He is badly hurt but how? She has no medical experience. She cannot lose him! They run… They hide but because of his injury, she needs to hide him. They are coming and she needs to act fast. She is so weak but she will not give up. Dead bodies everywhere…. The smell… the site… The adrenaline is wearing off… she has to act fast…
There is SO much story to read! The love scenes are HOT!!!!
“Mayhems Desire” – Part 2
Hicks is a part of a team that Project Mayhem is trying to kill. He and his teams mates had their DNA’s altered and they need serum to survive but they will not go back to that hellhole. Growing up was not easy. He was meant to be taken care of… His mother was meant to love him unconditionally but all she cared about was sex and drugs. Selling her body for money… he would never forgive her.
Whitney secretly works for the Senator but what she gets paid to do….. Is not exactly pleasant. She has two months of this and then she can call it quits. The money is good and with that she can start her own company…. 2 more months… it becomes her mantra… 2 more months….

A new series which branched off from the original Mercy books and what a great read!
Still the same action, adventure and romance but our heroes this time around have been experimented on and their DNA "tweaked", giving them all a few little added extra gifts.
Reaper may have signed his team up to the experiments but they were not what they were expecting. His men are dying from these experiments and when they finally break free they now need a new source of serum to prevent them from reaching meltdown.
Whilst on the hunt for Grenier and the serum, Reaper finds Caroline and rescues her from the pits of experimentation. She has been slowly bled for her blood to be used in synthesising the serum. On their break out attempt Reaper gets injured and for the first time ever someone is taking care of him for a change!
Caroline may be a bit of a princess and her previous entitled existence is now a distant memory. Led to safety by Reaper, she quickly realises there is more to the giant warrior and falls under his spell. As they evade Grenier the passion ignites between them and there are some very hot scenes!
Mayhems Desire
Hicks and Whitney don't have the smoothest of introductions.
Whitney has a rather clandestine relationship with a Senator. His odious bodyguard makes her skin crawl but it's a means to an end. But when her life & her job are threatened and her apartment trashed, she reaches out to the only person who always has her back, her sister.
Melissa is the wunderkind doctor who is looking after the Mayhem team and trying to undo some of the damage inflicted upon them. When he hears the Doc's sister is in trouble, Hicks volunteers to scoop her up. But when he makes a snap decisions about who and WHAT she is, he is right back in his troubled childhood and the attraction between him and Whitney is stalled.
Hicks may be a bad-ass soldier, with certain enhancements, but that doesn't stop him planting his huge foot in his mouth! Whitney may be the polar opposite of her sister and deemed "average" by her parents but she has a huge, caring heart and just wants to relieve some of the suffering in the world.
Fab storyline, great chemistry between the characters and I loved the little glimpse of Melissa and a certain team member!
Mayhems Hero
Diggs is still suffering from the self imposed guilt he feels at letting down his team mates. He feels he let Quantum and Crenshaw down when he couldn't save them. But he was lying near death himself but he just can't see past his guilt. He also feels that his enhancement is bit of a non starter - being the teams bloodhound is not exactly earth shattering!
Audra is in a state of shock after the death of her brother. She needs to take care of his former K9 partner but he has been sent to their father instead. When she arrives she finds Trigger missing and she knows that he is at the mercy of the man who made her life a misery. But when she finds Trigger, she finds a huge man looming over him and snaps! Poor Diggs almost comes a cropper! He finally gets her to calm down and they return to the compound to save Trigger.
But all the military talk and their compound put Audra on edge and she makes off with her furry charge! But she soon finds herself in real danger and has to accept that she jumped from safety into the volcano!
Diggs is so down on himself - unusual in a such an evidently alpha man. But his esteem has really taken a knock and when he finds out something reprehensible about a former team mate - he falls deeper into his own personal hell! Audra is stubborn and determined but she did take a while to warm up to! She was so naive sometimes, especially when she flees the compound with Trigger, that I really wanted to slap her for being so dense!
There are a couple of surprises in store and they are HUUUGE! We realise that the mind games didn't just stop at turning Mayhem into a killing machine. They truly mucked about with their brains.

MAYHEM'S WARRIOR.. 5 stars Caroline was set to marry General Rainer but leaves him at the alter. He kidnaps her and uses her blood to make a serum for soldiers, to make them super soldiers. Reaper is leader of his team and trust the wrong man. He and his team are given the serum and are turned into killing machines. They escape but he returns to rescue Caroline because they need her blood to make more of the serum or his men will die. As they are running from the Gen and his men, Reaper realizes he has not lost all his human feelings. He has feelings for Caroline but he has lied to her so many times, he doesn’t think she’ll ever forgive him when she finds out. Because he knows his life will be nothing but darkness without her in it. Excellent story and characters. Lies. Betrayals. Sex. Suspense. Secrets. I couldn’t wait to turn the next page to see what happens next. Can’t wait to read the next one. MAYHEM'S DESIRE... 5 stars Whitney is not what she appears to be. She works for a charity that raises money for food and water for kids in other countries. She is a Domme for a powerful man and has a NDA with him. Her brother left her a message not to trust anyone in the military. She is going to avenge his death or die trying. Diggs is one of the super soldiers with Team Mayhem. He thinks he’s the weakest of them and carries the guilt of his best friend dying and the other in a coma. When he is watching the monitors and sees a man beating a dog, he rushes out to save it. That’s when he meets Audra, the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen. As they try to figure out the message Audra’s brother left, they have to hide from the General who wants them back. This is my very favorite book in this series. I cried most of the way through. Plenty of action and several surprises thrown in too. I can’t wait for the rest of the series. A great trilogy!
Mayhem's Warrior: I just adored Caroline and Reaper. Caroline seems fragile but looks can be deceiving. She has so much inner strength-- she stands up for herself and has no problem risking everything to do what needs to be done. After Project Mayhem, Reaper doesn't think he deserves love, but he's okay with that since it's not something he's ever experienced. All of that changes as he gets to know and care for Caroline. Their relationship moved at a great pace, and I loved the character development!
The plot was interesting, and I couldn't put the book down! I would have liked the epilogue to focus on Caroline and Reaper, but I'm greedy like that :) It did a great job of setting up the next story.
Mayhem's Desire: I just loved Hicks and Whitney's romance! I'll admit that I wasn't quite sure if I would like Whitney at the beginning, but she quickly won me over. She is strong, independent, and has a lot of spunk. She needs a strong man and has certainly met her match with Hicks. I loved the suspense and the mystery, even though I did guess the villain. This story moved quickly and kept me fully engaged throughout. I will admit that I would have liked to have seen a bit more of the development of their romance. It moved fairly quickly, and I wanted to see a bit more. I wanted to see Hicks tell Whitney about his past and the experiment, but instead she learns the basics from her sister. However, it is still a very enjoyable romance with an action-packed plot

There was one development in this story that I was so excited about and can't wait to see how it plays out in the next book! It was also great to learn about Diggs' special ability!

I purchased this box set last year but hadn’t been able to read it. I am glad that I waited now, because all three books need to be read after the Men of Mercy series, which I have now finished, to get a clearer idea of the events leading up to these stories. This looks to be a wonderful spin off of the earlier series and I am really looking forward to reading more stories about these awesome men.

The box set of the Operation Mayhem trilogy is an amazing buy. I read each of these books as they were first released. Finding them all together is the way to go. There are ties to the Mercy Men series but this series is complete on its own.
Mayhem's Warrior (Operation Mayhem #1) has Reaper that recuing Caroline Cotter. Carolina understands Reaper in a way that others could not. Their story is one of rescue, danger, survival, loyalty then finding the capability to love and be loved.

He had volunteered to help create a warrior with enhanced abilities, to save the innocents in the world.
They turned him, and his team into something that were ruthless killers.
He had to save his team, and ensure that the serum they all now needed to survive was available. She was the key, so he went after her.
However, whilst trying to ensure both their survival, he found that she was not the person he thought she was. His doubts and concerns grow, but his team's lives were at risk.
Talk about high drama, but this little saga has just begun. I am looking forward to the next episodes.

Then, her life started to disintegrate. She reached out to the only person she knew would help her, unquestioning.

Sorry, giving too much away. Let's just say, the writer's version is so much better than my abbreviated rendition. It is worth reading!

Someone out there had been responsible for his death, and she would find out who, and avenge her brother, but first she had to recover his possessions, and his K-9 companion, from the man she no longer acknowledged as father.
And that's just the start of the story. It is a tale worth telling, and one worth reading.

Mayhem's Warrior #1
This book features Capt. TK Reaper and Caroline Cotter. This is a fan-freaking-tastic series opener! Reaper showed more emotion than I thought he was capable of. I guess love will do that to even the hardest of men. When he tied her up and walked away I was in shock! If I had a book in my hand I probably would've thrown it across the room. Such strong emotions come from being so deeply entrenched in such a mesmerizing story.

WOW! This series just keeps getting better. This book features Whitney Averton and Christopher "Hicks" Higginbatham. The prologue of this story starts when Hicks was a child and it ripped my heart open. What a terrible thing for anybody to go through. I can't seem to figure Whitney out. One minute she's tough and the next she's the damsel in distress. Great story regardless. This is an amazing action-packed, smokin' hot romance with very large, very sexy, ex-military men full of muscles AND brains. I love that the whole team is involved in the story line.

This fabulous book features Diggs and Audra. He’s always lived with a sense of inadequacy. Youngest and less accomplished, or so they were led to believe, than his six brothers. Less talent than the other members on his team. My heart broke for him because none of it was true. Audra only wanted to figure out and bring to justice her brothers killer. She’s feisty and perfect for Diggs. I wasn’t sure how the Trigger situation was going to work out. It looks promising but I guess we’ll see in future books.
The Quantum thread has me on the edge of my seat waiting to see how it unfolds.

Mayhem's Warrior - Wow, what a great start to this new series! This fast past-paced, action-packed, suspenseful, sizzling hot romance grabbed me at page one and didn't let go! I loved Reaper and Caroline and didn't want their story to end! Highly recommend this page turner!
Mayhem's Desire - Loved this action packed, suspenseful, hot, steamy romance from the first page to the last. Hicks and Whitney almost combust from their first meeting. Loved these two together! The ending has me holding my breath for the next book! The Mayhem series is full of hot, alpha, warriors and the strong women they fall for, action, suspense, intrigue, and hot, steamy romance. You will not be disappointed!

Can't wait to read more from this series
All the books in this boxed set are fast paced, intense reads with loads of action, feels, angst, drama and high heat. Each book is a standalone romance, but there is a major story arc revolving around the teams origin and creators that flows throw each book. That story arc ends as a cliffhanger with each book. Though the third book also ends in a cliffhanger for that part of the story, I am anxious to read the next regardless. I really, really want to read stories for each of the team members. I normally hate when a book ends in a cliffhanger, but with this series I don't care. The extreme romance story in each has me hungry for more. Lindsay Cross can't write fast enough for me to devour the rest of the series. I'll feign patience until they are released.

This book is three full-length books in one. The first book is about Reaper. He is the leader if the Mayhem military team. The team was brought in a huge research project. And with this project they altered the DNA of the team to make them unstoppable. But not without issues. So he has to go back once they escaped to get the surum to help them live. And with that, he saves Caroline.
Book Two is about Hicks. Another of the team. When he is getting checked out by the doctor, she gets a call that her sister is in trouble. He rushes to save her.
Book three is about Digs. He always thinks he is not worthy. Even though he is. He helps when Audras father is is beating her brothers dog.
This book had some very steamy moments. It is a bit wordy without being descriptive.

But they were told lies, they were nothing more than lab rats, and it cost them the life of one of their teammates and another one is now in a coma. Sit back and enjoy the first three books in this exciting series that combines military warriors who have been genetically altered and betrayed by their government. Suffering from painful and violent side effects that force them to retreat and hide seeking vengeance in the most primal way. This series combines science and science fiction that is unique and totally believable and the combination makes for a fascinating read. Expect Alpha males with super duper testosterone who are desperate to avenge themselves and the women who grow to love them and join them in the fight. Emotional stories, great characters and steamy sex scenes are right up my alley.

Their altered lives would end if theyvdidntvreceive a weekly doses of a serum or a cure was notvdiscivered soon. Some of them were lucky enough to find beautiful and courageous women to love them . Will they ever find the cure or at least get the revenge they deserve by eliminating the evil general and his reign if terror?

Another fantastic series from this author. From the very beginning of the Mercy series to the last book in this box set, I have been hooked. I fell in love with these men, their personal stories and their dedication to their country and their teams. The stories are fast paced, exciting, steamy and thoroughly entertaining. I can recommend this book and previous books by Lindsay Cross without reserve. King’s story can’t get here fast enough.

Lots of action and suspense. I do love a series that keeps you on the edge of your seats. It is also really nice to not have to read a book full of errors. Good job Lindsay on knowing how to spell and write. Makes reading a joy. It is also sad that evil and sick people exist in this world. It also is true that there is corruption in all things even in our government. Thank you for this interesting box set, I really enjoyed it.

Pleasantly surprised!
I found this to be a very good series! So happy I got the boxed set, I really don't like waiting for the next book to come out. This series has a great amount of action, suspense and of course some hot sexy scenes. Would I recommend this to family and friends? Yes, I already have and they loved them as well.

Suspense with some heat
Each of these stories are interconnected within the team, with a new suspense in each story - and each story has a couple HEA but the clock is ticking on the medical ... there are some inconsistencies regarding the overriding issue.... between stories, which is why I rated this a 4 star vs a 5 star. Overall, very good.

Loved it
All the books were fantastic. I loved all the military references. It still had romance and love BUT it had ass kicking men & women. The women who fall for these men are just as tuff and strong. The science behind it all was a great touch. I truly can't wait to read what kind of woman can win over King.

Awesome series.
I loved this box set and read non stop until I finished. Loved how this series goes along with the Men of Mercy series. Each book is full of action, suspense and alpha, possessive men that fall instantly for their women. Loved feeling connected with all the characters. I highly recommend this book.

Packed with everything!
A wonderful introduction to Team Mayhem! Each book brings an appreciation for our heroes in the military. You can't help but be drawn closer to these heroes and their strong ladies with each book. Author Lindsay Cross weaves a great tale filled with mystery, intrigue, suspense, love and heroism in the face of evil and betrayals!

This series is great!! No matter which of these books you read you will not be disappointed. Lots of action and plenty of steam with characters that are well developed and likeable. The story lines are well developed with a HEA. Hard to pick a favorite.

It was well written but the constant threat and running and hiding wore me out.
Premise was good and the flow was fine I would have liked quicker resolution and for the threat not to be carried out for so long.

This starts out the Mayhem series with Reaper, Hicks and Diggs along with the hea of their women. It's really a great series full of twists, turns, terrorists and other intriguing stuff. Hope you enjoy it; I did.
