This was a second read for my book club except me. My first time reading this sad story of a troubled soul who survived a horrific abuse at an early age. At times this story made me cry for her. The author did a great job in defining the two main characters of this story. She defined each of them with internal peeks of their thoughts. It would open discussions on the subject of mental illness &how we deal with all that encompasses. I think its a good read
This tear-jerking novel beautifully describes the journey of two women who couldn't exist as they without the other. It also speaks to the role that trauma plays in the development of humans. What I loved most was the depiction of strong, black women holding each other up in adversity without judgement of their pasts. Must read for sure!
This is one of the best books I've ever read! As a matter of fact, I'm going to pull it out and read it again & order one for my other half. I know he'll love it to!
