I'm living the dream in my fancy-pants world, and I've got the Instagram feed to prove it.
Who am I kidding? I'm literally holding it together with one more cup of coffee, yesterday's dry shampoo, and a prayer. So I finally said enough. Enough of me. I'm bidding farewell to chasing emptiness and exchanging it for more of Jesus.
If we agree with Paul in Acts 20:24 that our lives are worth nothing unless we use them for finishing the work of telling others the Good News - where are we in our quest to get busy for Jesus? In our world of hashtags, hair color, and having it all together, chances are we aren't accomplishing much.
Enough of Me is an 8-week Bible study for women focused on what God's Word has to say about the tug-of-war between our flesh and our mission. The study explores the barriers that stand between where we are today and where God wants to use us to finish His work.
Do you have a nagging in your heart for more purpose? Are you right smack dab in the middle of a tug-of-war between your flesh and your mission?
Often we want to live out the purpose and mission God has for us, but we're too distracted, exhausted, and empty. Maybe it's time to say enough to the excuses, anxiety, and interruptions that get in our way.
Could it be we're so busy chasing emptiness and playing the people-pleasing game, that we can't find time to live on mission?
It's time to take a deep breath and do some inventory. Let's dig in and see what God's Word has to say about this tug-of-war between our flesh and our mission. Let's figure out ways to quit chasing emptiness and take bold steps of obedience. Let's discover how we can glorify God and steer people to Jesus in our cubicles, at our dinner tables, in our mom-groups, and with people we encounter every day.
What would happen if we said Enough of Me . . . more Jesus.

Priscilla is a professional storyteller.
Whether it's words on a page, chit chat over coffee, or sharing her own journey in a packed auditorium – there will be laughs, there might be tears, and fun is sure to be had.
There’s no tellin’ where this narrator of life will take you, but you will cackle, you will grow, and the journey will darn-sure be anchored in Jesus.
I adore this book. I feel like the author saw into my head and put everything I needed to hear on paper. (Or, in my case, a PDF on my iPad.) She writes so engagingly, I laughed out loud on a regular basis, and was hard pressed to not keep reading more than one day's worth of devotions!
Truly an entertaining, raw, honest, challenging book. I could relate to so much Peters shared, and felt like we were just sitting across from each other at a coffee shop, enjoying friendship and community.
Highly recommended for anyone who wants to grow closer to Christ and is looking for an engaging, fresh read in their quiet times.

I just have to say I LOVE things like this. Journals, devotionals, planners. I love the slice of life that comes with it, the personal musings of the original author. And the scriptural applications they took away from their personal musings. Some of my best thoughts come from personal musings and letting my mind take wind when I focus on a concept. I mean come on, how do you think Fizzified was born. Years ago I came up with some of my best wanderings driving to and from work. Of course now I have a different job, a completely different commute, and a different take on life. And those musings are less and less engaging and inviting and definitely less worthy of putting on paper (screen) for others to engage with. Priscilla Peters however, she has engaging and inviting personal musings and mind wanderings.
Think about all the things you hold onto in your life, the things that define you. Now, where does Jesus fit into that? Yup, thought so. You are back peddling and trying to 'redefine' you with that added to the equation aren't ya? Over 8 weeks Priscilla guides you through all the things that define You and help you redirect those definitions to Jesus. An intro for each week and 5 days of devotional journalling. Here's the drawback I have discovered with doing something like this via e-book. Reading on the phone is one thing but I am NOT a phone person. I mean come on, if you know me at all you know that texting me means there's an emergency and I need to call you ASAP. Computer is awesome but there's at least two nights a week I am without computer. My eight week study became something more along the lines of ten weeks. But you know what? That's OK. Some things I want to go back over. Some things I want to revisit. But the e-book vs physical book debate that rages around us? Spring for the physical book with this one. Trust me.
I enjoyed the author's wit and take on life. She's real ya'll. She understands laundry piles and sniff checking the towels (OK maybe that's just a me thing?) and wondering of the bed sheets can go another day or if there's enough forks in the silverware drawer to put off dishes just a smidge longer. She's also not ashamed to not pull those punches and live authentically and out loud. And, as we all know how I feel about the hashtag/pound debacle that is taking over the internet, when I took her # apart so I could read the words they were just engaging as everything else. This book has a lot of real life but it also has a heap of using real life to draw yourself closer to Jesus. Complete the study, authentically and with purpose not just to check off the pages, and then think again about all the things you hold in your life that define you. Got Jesus?

“There are days when I’m running faster to my Facebook feed than I am to the word of God and I’m wondering why I don’t understand God’s will.”
Hits you in the face, doesn’t it? Priscilla Peters has written a thought-provoking, personally challenging 8-week bible study to help us better understand how to recognize and break down the barriers between our flesh and our mission in obedience to Christ. She uses personal experiences, biblical references, and poses lots of insightful, meaningful questions to aid us in discovering what steps need to be taken to reach the goal of bold obedience. Some of the barriers she discusses include: people pleasing vs. pleasing God, making excuses, believing lies, distractions, emptiness holding us captive, or just having good intentions. She emphasizes the point that we’re all looking for “purpose” because we’re not remaining in the One who defines it all for us in His word. Who are you following, your fleshly desires, or His purpose? I think this study is better suited to either a small group of close, intimate friends, or as a personal study, as it delves deep into personal feelings, very introspective. Quote: "Does the people-pleasing, comparison game ever trip you up? Maybe you’re like me, and the desire to be liked, adored, and praised by others overwhelms you to the core."
So...this book caught my attention almost from the first page. Yes, I'm sad to say, but way more than I'd like to admit to it, I give in to that whole people-pleasing game. When I was given the chance to read and review this book, I jumped for it.
I am desperately wanting to know how to let go and let God! Forget about pleasing others, and worry only about Him. And yet, there is a fine line, a balance, to be found....I do want to be the wife, the mother He is calling me to be, and be of service, like He desires, to the ones I love the most. Where is that line? I am hoping to find a few answers to my questions, and maybe even answers to questions I haven't let myself think of...in the pages of this book.

Peters’ latest is a relatable, practical eight-week Bible study that would be perfect for individuals or small groups. The author includes a number of personal stories and points that are likely to hit home with many women. Peters combines humor and honesty to reinforce the reminder that we need “enough of me and more of Jesus.” She leads the reader in identifying the barriers that could be holding them back from being where God wants them to be. There is so much information provided to think about, and there are numerous activities for self-reflection.
Some of my favorite quotes:
• “We can’t accomplish the mission God has for us when we’re caught up in our excuses.” • “The need for control produces anxiety, and when we’re overcome with anxiety, it’s difficult for God to do a work in us and through us.” • “His peace can replace our anxiety even in the most difficult of circumstances.” • “When our prayers are consistent, the voice of God in our life in constant.”

Enough of me is a phenomenal Bible study. Enough of me --- more of Jesus. I loved the personal stories that are intertwined in this study. I loved the thought provoking questions that they ask in the study. One of the things that I learned is that Jesus is enough. God sent him for me. If you want to grow closer to God, fill the emptiness that you are feeling, this is a great place to start. I would love to do this study with a group of women - it would be awesome to hear their stories.

An interesting devotional. Several good illustrations & points. I was alittle put off by her consistent references to her former job, but understand that that is what she relates to. This is not a book that I would recommend to a conservative Christian, but she does have several examples & references that are very good! There is a nice question/answer section as well:-)
