Nice to find advice and information tailored for the VSG/gastric sleeve. Even better, unlike some resources, it doesn’t assume everyone who’s having or had gastric surgery is incapable of controlling themselves. I’m 8 weeks post-op and I wish this book had come out sooner.

There is a good mix of recipes, with notes about how you can swap some ingredients for others. Nothing too crazy or too boring; a lot of the meals are things I already know how to make, so people who already do a lot of cooking probably won’t be wowed by the recipes, but this is still a good guide to help adjust the amounts you prepare so you aren’t left with tons of leftovers. And it’s great for anyone who hasn’t done a ton of cooking and is wondering how to start post-op. The majority of the recipes don’t require any out of the ordinary appliances, either.

What a super resource! I’m preparing to have bariatric surgery in the next few months and since we’ve been under lockdown for weeks on end due to Coronavirus, what else is there to do besides research recipes? The recipes are largely practical and don’t require a lot of fancy or replacement ingredients, and the introduction is full of really excellent information. The key (Full liquid, purée, soft foods, and general diet) is an extremely good guide and goes along with the info from my nutritionist. I have to keep wondering why cookbook writers don’t seem to capitalize on the opportunity to share photos of the recipes, and this book seems sorely lacking in photos. Beyond that, it has great potential to become a favorite go-to in the months and years ahead.

Bariatric surgery is not an easy way out. The introduction supports that thought while acknowledging how overwhelming the process is for a surgical candidate. Tools are included to clarify pre-op and post-op needs. Recipes are also flagged for each stage of the process. For example, an "S" for the soft food diet, "P" for the pureed stage and "G" once the general diet is allowed. I am a picky eater and was worried what I would eat after my vertical sleeve gastrectomy. I am currenlty one week post-op. Thanks to this cookbook, I have a lot to look forward to in the future.

Some of the general nutritional advice didn't seem spot on, but I flagged about 20 recipes so that says a lot since I'm pretty picky about what I like ;)

A Lifesaver in the Kitchen!

This bariatric cookbook is everything I didn’t know I needed after my gastric sleeve surgery. The recipes are comforting, flavorful, and thoughtfully portioned—with that Southern charm still shining through! I love how each dish comes with nutritional facts and tips specifically for bariatric patients. It's not just about eating less—it's about eating well, and this book gets that. A true companion for the journey—heartfelt, helpful, and downright delicious!

Loved the recipes in this book!

I’m newly sleeved and found this book to be helpful in each phase of my new diet. The recipes contain simple ingredients and low prep time. I like that it also denotes the serving size for each phase as well as nutritional values. This book is a must-have, whether sleeved or for weight loss.

Très bien

Représente assez bien les consignes reçues mais en plus détaillées. Indicateur de portion à respecter à chacune des étapes...
Dommage qu’il y ait si peu de photos des recettes

A good resource for someone in the pre-sleeve process or right after surgery. Being about 7 years out, I was looking for a bigger variety of recipes.
