Rugged Alphas

Rate this book
Three brand new releases in one awesome set!

The Shifters of SoHo are powerful alphas ready to fight to the death for their kind and the women they love. Enter the deadly seductive worlds in J. S. Striker’s all new series.

Book 1: Jack - Jillian Jones has everything going for her: a great job, a generous salary and a peaceful life in the sought after neighborhood of SoHo, New York. One day it all vanishes and she is dragged into a world she doesn’t even know exists—one that’s too magical and too outrageous to comprehend. Soon, she’s caught up in a secret that would have many others running away. And there’s no person to rely on other than a dangerous man who’s too attractive for his own good…

Book 2: Kasper - Kasper has always lived a semi isolated life, something that’s a choice and a necessity at the same time. It’s all disrupted when a certain fairy comes marching through his front door: bold, feisty and offering a mission he has no choice but to take. It’s all standard at first—until one night changes everything between them, and he finds himself fighting not just the enemy but feelings he shouldn’t be having.

Book 3: Xian - Xian has always had one goal in life: to protect his tribe and do what’s best for them, even at the cost of his pride. His plans are already in place for the future of his kind until trouble comes in the form of a woman, one who’s human and too opinionated for her own good. But he might have use for her yet…so long as he can ignore those pretty blue eyes trying to reel him in.

ARC REVIEW

Shifters of SoHo box set vol 1, Brand new series set in a new universe where our Earth sets parallel with other more magical worlds. One the home of the shifters, another is home to the Elfkind, another for Fae, and one for the evil demons. Some of these magical beings have the ability to open portals and travel between worlds the central hub being a marketplace, which is the connecting point to all the worlds. Striker once again creates a world full of magic and mystery with strong alphas and even stronger women they inevitably fall in love with. Each book has a common theme between them but they can be read as a stand alone if needed.

Book 1: Jack Jillian loves living in SoHo and her job at an art gallery, but a difference of opinion with the bosses new fiancee and she may lose it all. Luckily she finds another job in now time and she meets someone. Jack had one job retrieve the painting he never counted one being attracted to Jillian and with his feelings clouding his judgment. Jillian unfortunately gets sweeped up into a world she knows nothing about and running for her life with the man who seduced her for her painting. Along the way she befriends a one winged fae, Yeri, and along with Jack's friend Kasper they have to keep the demons from getting that painting.

Jack and Jillian's is a nice start to the series. it a nice gradual introduction to this new universe of characters. Jillian is slow to trust Jack even though the attraction is there and even more so after she learns of his deception. The romance is constantly building throughout the story.

Book 2: Kasper We met Yeri and Kasper in the last book. Yeri loved the sights, sounds, and food of SoHo so much she stayed but she's growing bored again. She wants to feel something new something she's only read about in those books Jillian lent her but to no success. Kasper was fine living his live in the marketplace working at his bar and occasionally longing for home but Yeri comes bouncing back into his life with a mission from Dean and Kasper is supposed to help out. It was just supposed to be a simple retrieval, some of her own kind has been spotted and all they have to do is return them. But when Kasper and Yeri find them they learn a collector has stolen their wings; the mission just became more complicated especially when a teenage human becomes involved.

The attraction between Yeri and Kasper sneaks up on them. Yeri discovers that the feeling she been longing to feel she feels with Kasper and Kasper has been attracted to her but the truth of his feelings pretty much hits him over the head like a 2x4.

Book 3: Xian Cassidy knew the moment she discovered the magical world of fae and shifter her life would never be the same any more, to the point she has devoted the last three years of her life working for Dean and the shifter Elders just to keep her memories. Xian is prepared to do anything to protect his tribe. The crocodile shifters were banished centuries ago to an offshoot realm that has slowly begun to die. Cassidy was just supposed to deliver the stone but just before the exchange Xian and Cassidy are ambushed by bounty hunters. Because of Cassidy they are able to escape but she also gets more involved than she planned when Xian marks her in a way she owes him three favors. Xian has to work to save his tribe or is it too late?

This is probably the most emotional tear jerking one of the three, and not just because of what happens between Xian and Cassidy but everything. Their relationship starts of rocky but everything about Cassidy calls to Xian's beast. Cassidy feels the pull to Xian as well but she loves him enough she won't make him pick between his tribe and her. This is a very emotional and action packed story definitely my favorite of the three.

I received an ARC edition of this book from the author.

I rather liked the concept for this new series. I especially liked the way that the portals between worlds worked. There are so many different paranormals within the stories it will be interesting to see how the series continues to expand in the future.

Jack and Jillian's story did a good job of setting up some of the basic world-building. They had a decent connection between them and I felt like progression of the story flowed well.
Kasper and Yeri were my favorite couple, I think in part because I could really feel the progression of their relationship.
Xian and Cassidy were a bit of meh story for me. I liked the action and a good bit of the plot in their story, but I just never really liked Cassidy (which was odd because I found her interesting in the previous story). Maybe it was the time jump between story 2 and story 3 that made it hard to view her at her actual age in the story.

I loved each and every story in this set. The world Ms. Striker built in this series is great. So many possibilities. In the first book, I wanted to strangle Jack. Jack is a sort-of shifter enforcer and Jillian is a human that accidentally ends up in the middle of a dangerous plot to open a portal to hell. That Jillian was even willing to help them shows what type of person she is. Each new threat she faced without freaking out, like she had always been part of this world. During this adventure she saves a captured fairy and finds a best friend.

Kasper is my very favorite. He’s a shifter and has owned the bar in the marketplace for years. Yeri is a Matsa fairy and Jillian’s best friend. She is vibrant, happy, caring and smart. She, however, has no filter and is very straightforward. She doesn’t understand that you shouldn’t always say what you think and that is hilarious. When Kasper and Yeri end up on a mission together, things get complicated and heated. I love how strong and determined Yeri is and how she tries to save a young human girl, Cassidy, along the way..

Xian is the alpha crocodile shifter trying to save their dying world. He is very serious and not friendly at all. Cassidy has grown up since meeting Yeri and Kasper and is working with the shifter council as a messenger. When Cassidy’s delivery to Xian turns into an ambush, they work together to get free, but there’s more to it than just freedom. I loved this set and do recommend it.

I will not restate the plot nor reveal any spoilers in this review.
Shifters of Soho is a delightful paranormal romance. The author has created a way station (marketplace) that is a multidimensional horizontal world to Soho in New York City. (When you read the book, this sentence will make perfect sense.) Shifters of all kinds can rub elbows with other shifters and non-humans at the marketplace, as well as use this location to access portals to other worlds. At the heart of this box set is a motley crew: humans, shifters, fairies, demons and other strange and unusual entities. The main characters are written with warmth, humor and strength. Each is flawed but lovable and every one of them finds itself in sticky circumstances from which he/she must reach deeply to discover the important things in life.
Along the way, they learn the real meaning of sacrifice which lead them to true love. J. S. Striker has created a place of innovation and imagination!

This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. Shifters of SoHo (Books 1 - 3) by J. S. Striker is a boxed set of her amazing Shifters of SoHo series. J. S. Striker provides a mesmerizing world of magic and shifters that will enthrall you. While each story can basically be read as stand alone, each book makes references to events and people in previous books, making this boxed set that much more enjoyable. I really loved this set. From the moment I began reading Jack, I was hooked. There's action, adventure, love, betrayal, humor, a hint of danger and lots of fun. And with an assembly of shifters, fairies, humans, others and their tumultuous relationships there's a little something for everyone. I can't recommend this series highly enough. So entertaining, I'm reading Dean, Oscar and Rigby next! If you've read Alyssa Day's The Warriors of Atlantis series or Deborah Cooke's Dragonfire Series you'll Love Shifters of SoHo (and if you haven't, why not!).

I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a honest review.
Dean: AAHHH!!! Another story that is excellent. It has all of the components, danger, scary things, trust of your friends or help. A very good story from start to finish. And we can't forget about love.
Oscar: These stories of SoHo are excellent, they all are. I love them. The author shows an interesting imitation. The world is so interesting and so many different shifters. Their can be so many different stories. I know that you will enjoy them as much as I have and will.
Rigby: Danger, danger every were. The trill of getting your prize and staying almost in one piece. It is and excellent story and outcome. You will love it also.

I liked the first story in the book which is mainly about Jack, a panther shifter, and Jillian. It is a bit confusing when it comes to the painting that everyone seems to want. It seems that the painting has been altered so that it controls a portal into the demon realm. Jack is trying to get it from Jillian so that he can take it somewhere safe until a ritual can be performed to destroy it. Jillian's new bosses want it for much more nefarious purposes. When Jack "accidentally" runs into Jillian and asks her out, he finds himself wanting her almost as much as he wants the painting. Things go to hell in a handbasket when a demon steals the painting and Jillian is dragged into a world of shifters and other supernaturals. The only question is: will Jack ever make his move?

A magical world parallel to ours and sometimes humans are predestined to cross over into that world, not always of their own free will.
The 3 Stories of "Soho Shifters" are in chronological order and although they could be read as stand-alone, they are so much better read in order and - thanks to the box set back to back.
The stories are describing the adventures of a group of people who try to protect the secret of the parallel worlds and its inhabitants . I had received this boxed set as an ARC, and like so many other stories by J.T. Stryker, it was thrilling at times, slow and romantic at times it has the right blend to keep you hooked from beginning to the end.

This is a collection of three books filled with magic and suspense. Each book is fast-paced with a great story line, alive with shifters, faeries, humans, and all kinds of crazy goings-on. The characters are well developed and easy for the reader to care about. I definitely recommend this book. It’s engaging and holds the reader’s interest from the start. As we have come to expect from this author, the writing is excellent and the books provide suspense, tons of action, and even a few laughs -- but the intrigue, twists and turns are what keep the reader moving eagerly through the pages. Awesome read!

OH MY ROCKY ROAD!!!
Hey guys, check this out. Wow! One amazing collection for our entertainment. Man, talk about a birthday gift. You get all the action, drama, suspense, thrills and a big ol' heaping of shifters and mayhem. You can't go wrong with these bad boys. I'll even bet you read 'em again and again. I have. LOL. The characters and their personalities were on point and well developed. The scenes are realistic and believable. Striker does what she does best. She created a world and free us in until nothing else existed except what was right in front of our eyes. Fantastic job Striker, thanks for sharing this awesome read with us.

Magic, mayhem, passion, and more supes than you could shake a stick at. That is what you are going to get when you open up this incredible box set. Each story follows a separate couple, but the stories have a backstory that connects them all. This is one set that it was easy to devour in one sitting because I didn't want to put it down. I'm not ashamed to say that I growled at my family when they tried to interrupt me while I was reading this. This is one that all lovers of paranormal romance must read!

Three stories that will change how you look at paintings. I love that each story is unique but they all still connect together. You have several types of shifters from lions to crocodiles, some fairies, and some humans that will put themselves in harms way if it means protecting others. A fun and adventurous read with a portal that feels like you may have fallen down a rabbit’s hole. Each story has some steamy romance, protective males and females who can kick some too. Highly recommend for any paranormal romance reader.

I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of the set.

Three fabulous stories altogether in one collection that will keep you captivated for hours.  Very well written by J.S. Striker who is wonderful with her knowledge of the paranormal.  These hunky alpha wolf shifters will have you panting for more!  Each one is a real page turner with a fascinating storyline that is just that bit different to keep you engrossed.  I loved the witty banter between the heroes and heroines.  My favourite was book 2 - read it and I hope you see why! I received a reader's copy or this book and voluntarily leave my honest opinion of it here.  Definitely recommended

I received an ARC copy of this book and I voluntarily chose to review it. I loved these three books. These are Paranormal stories that are well written. I am looking forward to the next book. I don't do spoilers but I hope I can get a chance to read the Dean story. Dean is a secondary character and he is an Alpha male who has brooding qualities. The three stories here are well written and have some mystery wove through out the stories. I encourage you to get this series.

When I first started reading this box set I didn't quiet grasp what was happening but as the story unfolded I fold I really liked the series it's different in a unique way. It's still a shifter series but with twists that I found brilliant, each story is connected by the people in the books but can be read individually. That being said I really liked the stories there was a serious side to all the stories as well as romance also a few touching moments too.

This is a great set about some alpha shifters that met their match in some strong women. I really enjoyed the set of stories and found myself drawn into the books. I liked that the women are very much their equals. The stories are fast-paced and each is a complete story but is interconnected to the rest which makes for a great reading experience.

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received.

This book is really good, I could not put it down. This author writes amazing stories with great characters (those you love & those you love to dislike), fast-moving plots, unexpected twist and turns, and, of course, hot alpha shifters who meet their mates (strong women you can admire).

Difficult read

It took me a while to get into this series. I almost deleted the series, because it was q difficult read for me. Once I got to the middle of the first book, I just pushed through. The 2nd book was good but the 3rd book, was disappointing, for me.
