Southern Charms Cozy Mystery #1.5

Lemonade & Love Potions

Rate this book
Magic and mystery are only part of the Southern Charms of Honeysuckle Hollow… Charli Goodwin can’t help herself when it comes to helping out her friends, especially a failed cupid trying to earn his way back into the matchmaking ranks. A singles mingle in her small Southern supernatural town should be the perfect event, but trouble with a capital T shows up when someone attempts to boost the odds of love in their favor.
Sweet honeysuckle iced tea, it’s gonna take more than lemonade and a little magic to help Charli find out what’s wrong, solve the mystery, and save Honeysuckle Hollow from disaster again. This Southern Charms short was previously included in the paranormal cozy anthology Hexes and Ohs!

This was a very short but very fun story. I could see this happening in Honeysuckle. Nana was so funny I know a few women who would have acted like that. I like the fact that birdie was the only sober one and did it seem like Dash was happy that it happened? It made me laugh when it turned out that most of them had the same idea.

I'm not rating this book because it's clear you needed to read the first book to understand the characters and what was going on here.

Book 2 in the series implies you missed SO MUCH not reading this novella. False. You know literally everything if you just power thru book 2. The retelling in book 2 is actually better than what happens in 1.5, so don't bother unless you're like me and you just needed to make sure you hadn't missed something. I promise. You didn't.

Lemonade & Love Potions was first available in the anthology Hexes and Ohs, and is now in a single story format as well. This is a Southern Charms Short so there really isn’t much I can safely say beyond what the story description blurb already mentioned… except that this is a funny disaster that will have you laughing out loud. Oh, there’s a mystery to solve with several suspects… but maybe not in the way you’d normally expect from a Paranormal Cozy Mystery story. We’ll meet up with many of the characters we first met in Moonshine & Magic as their stories move along just a wee bit in this story.

I had fun, I laughed and I cringed – yeah that kind of funny. If you’re looking for a lighthearted, funny tale that won’t take long to read but will bring pure enjoyment then I’d suggest picking up Lemonade & Love Potions. You’ll have a blast.

I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.

This super quick cozy mystery short takes place between Southern Charms cozy mystery 1 and 2 and according to a note from the author is very helpful in lying some of the foundation for some character interactions in the second book. I found that to be true. I think without this story I wouldn't have understood some of the characters reactions to each other in the second book. That being said one of the love interests is suuuuper cringey in this book and he's supposed to be to set the scene in book 2 but I just felt like the cringey-ness wasn't believable. It felt super fake and forced. The story was so short it felt like it could have somehow been added into the second book instead of split off into it's own short. The one up-side was the introduction of Horatio, the Shakespeare-quoting troll who I really liked.

The Lonely Hearts Club gets out of control.

A fun, light coffee break read. A mixer to try to give a disgraced cupid a chance to redeem himself (and to help her friends have the courage to date their soulmates) gets out of control. Who would have thought that all it would happen during the time she had gone to pick out some pies. Why is everyone acting out of character and who is responsible? Can things be set right before the venue is completely wrecked? Quirk and fun, it is something that you will fly through.

Charli gets mixed up in another fun adventure when she tries to help Cupid Skeeter get his job back. What was supposed to be a singles mingle turns into a mix-matched love connection with unlikely individuals. Can Charli figure out what went wrong and save the day?

This is a cute in-between short story that helps you get to know the cast of entertaining magical characters in Honeysuckle Hollow. This short story is reminiscent of the old Bewitched series where Samantha is trying to fix another miss-matched spell of Esmeralda or Aunt Clara.

What was the point?

A mixer for people who were already emotionally paired off. Everyone apparently had the same boneheaded idea. All of this in aid of an incompetent cupid that deserved to be unemployed. This short served no purpose: it didn't move the main storyline forward; there was no further character development; it wasn't even entertaining. AND it was poorly edited! This was a surprising failure for a series I had been thoroughly enjoying; at least it was over quickly.

Entertaining supernatural cozy mystery short

Entertaining supernatural cozy mystery short. Great cast of characters and a fun storyline. I love the short stories that fill in some of the gaps as well as some of the characteristics and natures a mini of the characters in this series. Read on and find out about how some of the characters in this series initially got together and what finally made to push it. Also find out how the mystery began as well as who and how it was solved. A Cute Story In The Southern Charms Universe

I really enjoy the characters in this series! Also, the lessons of tolerance for others who are very different from ourselves.
Some of the phrases used, such as "bless her heart and hex her tiny hiney", really tickle me too!

I wish...

Not what I was expecting, but it answered some questions. When a singles mingle goes wrong, luckily Charli was not there to be affected by it. With the help of her roommate and grandma, they manage to reverse the affects of too much love.

Love potion gone wrong

Char helps Skeeter throw a singles mixture. Then things go crazy after an interesting and exciting evening Char figures there are too many love potions in the mix. Nana comes to the rescue, all with a touch of Southern Sass.

Heheheheheee

That’s parts in here that must be read on a classic bombastic superhero voice. To have it any other way would not do it justice.

Chaos is what happens when there’s a lack of ice tea at an event. Lol

A wonderful quick read.

Cute short story

A great little story about a get together in Honeysuckle Hollow. Be careful of the pink punch. I didn't read it in the order it was intended and it didn't really make a difference.

Great cozy mystery. Both the author and the narrator kept me invested from the first chapter. With a number of twists and turns and a result I didn’t see coming, I was hooked. Cannot wait to read and or listen to more from this author.

Short and Cute

I enjoyed this short story. It was funny and cute. No real mystery here, but the goings on with the characters was worth the read.
