这部小说是根据1910年冬至1911年春在东北哈尔滨爆发鼠疫的史实创作的。小说描写哈尔滨傅家甸地区的民众在鼠疫来临之时遭受的灭顶之灾。特别着力于王春申、翟芳桂、翟役生、于晴秀、喜岁等普通民众的描写，官员于驷兴、医生伍连德等人物也都很有特色。小说内容密集、丰富，不张不扬、徐徐道来，如一幅晕染的风情图，充满小人物的悲欢哀乐。

About the author

Chi was born in Mohe County, Heilongjiang in February 1964. Her father, Chi Zefeng (迟泽凤), was the president of a local school. Chi Zijian was named after his father's idol Cao Zijian, a poet and prince of the state of Cao Wei in the Three Kingdoms period.

Chi entered Daxing'anling Normal College (大兴安岭师范学校) in 1981 and she started to publish novels in 1983.

In 1988, Chi was accepted to Northwest University, majoring in writing. One year later, she attended Beijing Normal University and Lu Xun Literary Institute.

In 1990, Chi joined the Heilongjiang Writers Association.

Her novel, Last Quarter of the Moon, was published in 2005, which won the Mao Dun Literary Prize in 2008.

Chi won the Lu Xun Literary Prize in 1996, 2000, and 2007

C’était très poétique, le style de l’écriture était doux et imagé mais malheureusement la TONNE de personnages a fini par me perdre et par ne pas me permettre de m’attacher à chacun d’eux dans les tragédies qu’ils vivent. La lecture a fini par ressembler à un documentaire bien narré mais peu émotionnel.
J’ai quand même passé un bon moment et je vais continuer à explorer la littérature chinoise, c’était interessant!

Récit en huis clos dans un village chinois touché par la peste. Beaucoup de personnages, parfois difficile de suivre et de tout comprendre mais cela fourmille de détails et de parcours de vie. Une façon différente d'écrire la vie. Du tragique, du gore, du drame, bref belle lecture.
