A book with a clear and concise explanation of our Labour Leader Cesar Chavez.
The book was interesting because it explained the reason why Cesar Chavez became an active speaker for his people. It deals with the many horrid practices of the time:
The few rights harvest pickers had. The lack of potties in the fields. The torturous harvesting tools. The lack of water availability and no breaks. the constant exposure to nasty chemicals like fertilizers and insecticides that shorten their live spans and got them so sick. The lack of health plans or medical benefits or compensation.
It is a historical glimpse to the life of a man and how he benefited so many. His struggle was always peaceful. He walked many long pilgrimages for hundreds of miles to protest cruel and unjust practices, and took on not only the large and wealthy growers but the government as well.
