Navajo Territory – 1734 Adam, the mixed child of a Navajo woman and European trader, makes the unsettling discovery that he is not any normal man. When Geoffrey Swenson shows back up to the village, prompted to visit his son for the first time since boyhood, it’s for a more disquieting reason. Adam is coming into his true identity as a werewolf and must leave behind his old ways of life, his traditions, and everything he’s known, to train with his estranged father. But with a new sickness sweeping through the tribes, leaving may prove harder than they ever imagined. A mistake made in his early years has formed a rift between father and son, but now Geoffrey is Adam’s only hope for mastering his new werewolf abilities. After being abandoned by his own father before his first shift, Geoffrey knows how difficult it is to cope with these changes. But he begins to realize that maybe Adam is the one who can teach him a thing or two about what it means to be a werewolf.

After having read about Katey, with few facts about her father coming clear, I finally got to meet him. Learn where Adam is from, his family's dynamic, and how his first change changed him. Amazing read full of Native American ideas I'd never been exposed to. This book was a learning experience for me.
Adam's story is so emotional. Every part of it has so much love and tenderness except for when he finds out who and what he is. There was always something unique and different about him. The way he learned and achieved among his friends and then on during the travels. We know what he achieves as a man and father but this explains what got him there. The author let's us see what it was that was so special about Adam and the man he became, what formed and shaped him, what gave him heart and soul. It is a touching story which answers many questions and even gave me a tear tear moment.
I love the story of the loup-garous but I especially love the way this author has brought them to life. She has given them soul and purpose other than finding their mates. These want to know who they are and where they come from. They are destined to be a part of something big and this author makes it a thrill to learn about and be a part of.
