Jack Wilson found himself riding in the back of a pickup truck wondering how everything could have gone so wrong. He looked up the road and caught a glimpse of the strange, enclosed city looming in the distance. His father had agreed to leave the safety of their secluded cabin in the mountains and travel hundreds of miles with him to try and find Lori. It had been over two years since he saw her last. Jack loved her desperately but had no idea how she felt toward him. They had prepared for months, planning out every detail--or so he had thought. Now Jack's father was dead, the plan was totally shot, and he was making it up as he went along with his life in the balance. He had four days to infiltrate the city, find Lori, and escape before he would surely be discovered and killed. He couldn't have dreamed how the next four days and a mysterious letter from his father would forever change his life. Wake Up, O Sleeper is a page-turning thrill ride that you won't be able to put down. The shocking ending will leave you asking: 'Am I awake or asleep?'

I have lived almost all of my life in Monroe County, Tennessee, a rural area nestled in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains. I married my high-school sweetheart in 1991 and we have three sons. I graduated valedictorian from Madisonville High School and Summa Cum Laude from Tennessee Technological University with a BS in Civil Engineering. All that education led me to my career for the last several years as a structural engineer. At the age of 28, I helped to start Cornerstone Engineering in 1999 and have specialized in the design of the support frames for sports video displays. I do enjoy running, playing basketball, and the occasional foray into writing.

I had the pleasure of editing this book. It's a tremendous father/son adventure set in a strange reality where cities are closed off from nature. Great contrasts of stark urban landscapes and rich, lush countryside. The challenges of the human condition and the tension of the father-son relationship are explored through the course of the overarching plot--infiltrating the city to rescue a girl.

Wake Up, O Sleeper

Almost missed this story, and that would have been my loss. This wonderful, loving, desperate, and heartbreaking tale is also inspiring. A man and his son go on a journey that shows the father's heart. And makes his boy into a man that recognizes his weakness and God's greatness.

Fantastic Dystopian Literature

Truly an unsung hero in the dystopian genre. So vivid - the imagery of the cities (CR12 and CR18) with the sanctions and the uniforms colored according to job types and the demolished neighborhoods surrounding , such depth to the characters that you become invested in each of their stories - past and present. Can't wait to read book 2!

An amazing ode to love, truth, and sacrifice, I loved the book. One detail I felt was an afterthought, but I was willing to overlook it for the greater message this book had. It took itself seriously but without being flashy and maintained a simple yet clever prose. 5 of 5 stars of course.

This was on a friend's list and not my normal genre so I gave it a try. For me, the book moved very slow until about a chapter or two were left. I gave it 4 stars because the story theme was good. As always, books are a personal choice.

This book is like a combination of 1984, The Road, and The Notebook all together. When I first read this book, I thought that there is no way that this could ever happen in real life. But after seeing how much change has gone on in our government, I see that this could really happen to the United States today. The love stories in this novel seem so real and not fake. Jack's search for Lori kept me turning the pages. I am from the south and love the feeling of safety and security at the cabin in the mountains. The "Main Theme" of this book is about waking up after years of being in a rut. The Christian themes are very thought provoking. This book will entertain but also make you re-evaluate your own life. Can't wait to see what happens next in the sequel! Great Story!

I received this book free as part of a giveaway and was really excited to begin reading it. As interesting as the story was, I had trouble reading the book and had to force myself to finish. The writing is very choppy, doesn't flow well and had a very heavy first person narrative. The plot and story were good just wish the writing matched.

This is a father/ son adventure of great contrasts. People who live in the cities are cut off from nature. The challenges and the tensions the father and son face,as they try to infiltrate the city to rescue a girl. It is an entertaining read and a very thought provoking story.
