She was born of the Shadow. Now he will claim her. The Shadow hunts. He feels those born with his dark touch, and he seeks them for his evil bidding. With dark magic brewing inside, young Ginna must find safety for an unwanted child also born with Shadow magic. With the help of a runaway slave, the two must keep the newborn alive while escaping the clutches of ruthless bounty hunters, betrayers who would sell them for a pouch of silver, and the Shadow himself who will stop at nothing to claim both Ginna and the infant as his own. Shadow Born is a stand-alone novel in Mande Matthews' internationally bestselling series, the ShadowLight Saga.
Mande Matthews is the author of the ShadowLight Saga. Her debut novel is "Bonded" - book one of the ya epic fantasy trilogy. A free prequel to the ShadowLight Saga, entitled "The LightKeepers" is now available for free at most online retailers.
While attending a performing arts college for writing and arranging, Mande discovered Joseph Cambell's Masks of God series. Her desire to understand humanity through myth and legend mingled with her love of fantasy fiction, birthing her life-long quest to create original new worlds for readers.
A hermit at heart, Mande recedes into the realms of imagination where she occasionally surfaces to face the real world aided by her minions: a husband who plays the dog drum (the belly of their border collie), and a menagerie of furred, feathered and mostly magical friends.
That is the question throughout this book. If you are Shadow born are you good or evil? Maybe a little bit of both. We all have a little of both inside of us. It's how we choose to use it that makes the difference.
I have been fascinated with the Shadowlight Series from the start, the battle between good and evil. We learn more about the Shadows world, is there some good in him? Ginna was taught to always be good but she knows she has darkness within her. Her story and that of the friends she meets on her journey was intriguing, after all don’t we all have good and evil inside us. Hope I don’t have to wait another 4years for the next book
Apparently, I am to believe that Toka, a 15 year old skinny girl, while in a fight, hit a beast of a man in the jaw and knocked him cold. And the second male suddenly had an epiphany about right and wrong while attempting to rape Toka? You should have brought the spirit walkers in to save Toka and Ginna before those idiotic scenes. It ruined the whole book.
