When Mollie awakens to find herself in a cage, she doesn’t remember how she or her sister got there, but she also discovers they are not alone in their nightmare. After their captors take her sister, Mollie vows to do whatever it takes to rescue Aida. The only problem is, she has no idea how she’s going to break free… until Mike arrives.

Imprisoned together, Mollie and Mike join forces to break free, but they soon discover life outside of captivity is even deadlier and more horrific than anything they could have imagined. Frightened by her newfound knowledge of vampires, Mollie’s forced to accept what Mike is while they hunt for her sister and his friends.

Despite her reservations about him, the more time they spend together, the more their feelings for each other deepen. Will they live long enough for their love to grow, or will the horrors they face consume them?

2 fatigued STARS ★★✩✩✩
This book is for you if… well. In all honesty, I cannot in good faith recommend continuing this series. I did not read book 9 to 11 yet, though, so I may be turned around just yet.

Preface.
Disclaimer: Although I'm increasingly unsatisfied with this series I would like to underline that I'll be a Brenda/Erica fan for the rest of my life. Back during my BA, I had a phase during which no book could hold my interest, and then she happened and all worries were forgotten.

Oh, the boredom.
I remember having the exact same problem with the prequel to Consumed that bothered me now: The romance is ridiculous. I know there's the whole mating thing to take into consideration but is it really too much to ask to have actual parts of the plot be dedicated to making the reader really feel the connection between the love interests? It wasn't a big issue before, but it was pretty much everything I could think of reading Consumed. While I appreciated the mindlessness of it all in Ravaged to Consumed, I could not find such grace in me this time around.

Apart from the shallow attraction, I'm also starting to mix up all the plots in this series because they seem to be so similar. It's always being on the hunt/hunting, usually involving some abduction and a rescue mission on top. There's the occasional "And there was only one bed" thing going on as well, and that's the part I'm truly here for, you know me.

What’s happening.
Be prepared for a plot so dry I didn't manage to find a single quote that does serve to ridicule the "love" that connects Mollie and Mike. Both are captured along other humans and vampires by human trafficking people to be part of a hunt on a secluded isle. Time is running out and they need to flee in order to find Mollie's sister Aida as well as Mike's friends Jack and Doug.

2 STARS. Definitely a disappointment. It might not even have been worth to finish for a variety of reasons.

Why????

This is probably the saddest a book has ever made me. Obviously by this point I am faithful reader of this series. The five that started it all. I just knew I would be reading about each of their stories and now, now my heart is just broken. Why did Doug have to die?? I literally cried reading through his death. Still ready eyed actually. And I’m not much of a cryer but this got me and broke my heart.

On the bright side I am truly happy for Mike. He finally got what he had been waiting for. His mate. And she is strong and independent but also a 100% loyal and goes all in in her love. She is perfect for one of the stooges. Everything they went through on that Island was brutal. I hasn’t really expected the savages to be capable of such cohesive scheming.

I hadn’t imagined that there would be several super wealthy savages. I don’t know for some reason I would equate them to mindless with bloodlust but apparently not. They have money 💰 and they are capable of creating a business that’s keeps the money flowing and also allows them to do what they love most gorge on blood.

I was so concerned that That they wouldn’t make it off the Island or that Aida was dead. Or Jack was dead. Man but Jack is still there and, I’m assuming the women he is with is his mate only guessing though could be wrong. And then of course DOUG IS DEAD!!!

But at the end we find out Willis is 19 and Julian is 18. Man time has flown by with everyone growing up and mating up. I feel like I’m aging fast just reading about there lives. Can’t wait for jacks story although next is so far away. Ugh 😑

Super excited though.

Oh my goodness. This is the most tense. emotional, frightening (for them) and so good! This series is one of my favourites and while this book does have similar traits, it is more intense than the other books. Fast paced, tense and fantastic. There are some sexy. romantic moments and a lot of fantasy violence, so I would say that, as with the rest of the series, this is 18 +

Sh*t is getting real!!!!!

Noooooooooo, Doug nooooo. Why, oh, why.

This book felt so action-packed, so many things happened, and the concept was so brilliantly done. This might be my favorite.

The ending felt rushed and unfinished. So I guess I am on to the next book.

One word, DOUG!!!

Wow, well, excuse my last couple of reviews because this one was just as intense as one of her The Alliance series books. LOL

This book definitely had me on the edge of my seat. This is part of her series, The Vampire Awakenings. It started with the first book, Liam and Sera and the others have mainly been about Liam and Sera's children. But with this one we got one of The Stooges with a story. It is an action packed book and will keep you on your toes. This is full of romance, action, suspense and some downright terror.

I highly recommend you read all of these books in order. It really enhances the reading experience.

This is Mike’s HEA story. He, Jack and Doug are in Canada looking for a possible safe retreat to evacuate their families and escape the Savages when they are attacked in a bar by Savages.

After being kidnapped, Mollie and her younger sister Aida were locked in separate cages in a barn filled with other occupied cages. But now their kidnappers have taken Aida away and she hasn’t come back. Desperate, Mollie figures out a way for her and most of the others to escape.

Mike and Mollie end up getting separated from the rest and struggle to survive while being hunted by the Savages.

Warning: cliffhanger at end, but Mike & Mollie’s story is finished ok.

Footnote: 1) Even though I know it was just published, the whole time I read this I felt like I’d read it before. Something else that was a mass escape on a dangerous island with sups. Though the trophy room was completely (and horrifying) new.

Fave scenes: Mike getting the two rabbits, finding the quilt, finding Doug and the fight in the lighthouse.

As always Ms. Davies does not disappoint! I have read the Vampire Awakenings series from the beginning and I feel like these characters are like family! Without giving any spoilers away all I can say is NOOOOO, I can't believe XXXXX is gone, how heartbreaking, teared up when reading it. And now I have to wait until book 9 to find out how it all ends and what happened to XXXXX, OMG wow, it is going to be so hard to wait, but knowing Ms. Davies, it will be worth the wait. This book had plenty of action, suspense, romance, sex and violence, but nothing gratuitous, just the right amount of each to make it a great read. It had characters I love and characters I loved to hate and maybe one or two that I would like to read more about in coming books! If you are a fan of Brenda K. Davies and have not read this series yet, what are you waiting for?? and if you are not familiar with her books but love a great vampire story (maybe a fan of Angel or Spike or Mick St. John??) then read this series!

Actually lost for words right now.... I know this book was about Mike but I’m well and truly heartbroken over Doug 💔
We’re on book 8 for gods sake, it’s like we’re part of the family now, why?? Why did this need to happen?? I was so looking forward to all the stooges having to eat their words by finding their mates. Doug was a favourite too, I’m so so disappointed there had to be a loss 😢

But wow, what a story. Brenda never fails. I’m so happy for Mike but his happiness is being pushed to the side right now and I can’t wait for the next book to hopefully see the whole family settle after this and have a chance to be happy.

Now to gather all my tear filled tissues.... Brenda I’m not sure I forgive you 😩

This is part of a series I started and have enjoyed right up to this point and know it will go beyond. I like all the characters who are established already because they have been so well presented in the past. The new characters are given rich backstories to draw you into their lives and give you a feeling that they are relevant to what is going on. The locations are unique to the story being told and are, therefore, a part of what makes the story move forward.

Mollie awakens to find herself in a cage and doesn't remember how she or her sister got there. But they are not alone. When her sister Aida is taken away she is frantic to find her and get away from whatever is happening. Mike and his friends have gone to Canada to locate a location they go to if things get too bad in the States with the Savages. While there they go to a bar and when it is attacked by Savages and they find themselves imprisoned by humans and vampires alike. When Mike finds himself next to Mollie who has a plan to escape he asks to be included not knowing she could be his future.

Mollie has some issues which are becoming a part of the look for potential female mates, which at least lets you know it's coming. The story while it starts out one way has more layers than expected and once you find it, it definitely keeps you involved. I read this pretty quickly and wanted more so moved on to the next story right away.

There are a few surprises that I did not see coming. There is also plenty of action and danger, sex and lust and so much more.
*Due to sexual content, violence, and language this book is recommended for those 18+ years old.

Amazing

As always with the vampire awakenings series... Each book has me completely trapped where I can’t put it down until I have completed the entire book. The only negative thing I have to say about this series is that due to me reading every book within 24 hours tops, it’s so painful waiting for the next one! I fell in love with this series in the very beginning with Liam and Sera and each book has me begging for the next!!! I absolutely love everything about this author and this series. I feel like I truly know each and every family member in the whole clan. Loosing Doug made me cry so hard and was completely blind sided me because I thought everyone was so invincible. I hope the book series never ends but I do hope that none else in this beloved family ends up like poor Doug. He will be truly missed 💔

Not a bad installment in the series just shy of 4 ⭐️ (like a 3.4 or something)

✅Here’s what I liked:✅

✅Fast paced: this one was pretty intense throughout and I always enjoy a lot of action is the stuff I read.

✅Brutal moments: I love it when a vampire feels dangerous and goes out of control (even if they’re “one of the good guys”) There were more than a few times where that itch was scratched.

✅High stakes: The enemy is ruthless and it really keeps the tension going. The impact of the high stakes is not only a threat but felt as some of our protagonists are forced to make tough choices and sacrifices.

✅The setting: Brenda did a great job painting a clear visual of their surroundings, these moments were immersive.

❌Stuff i didn’t like so much:❌

❌Molly: she was ok… but sometimes annoyed me. She has such a hero complex that she puts her allies and herself in danger for those who may not be trustworthy. I understand this happening once or twice before the reality check but she does this SEVERAL times. It’d be one thing is she was reckless but this came off as thoughtless and stupid. It also cheapens the believability of soulmates when she hardly takes time to consider his feelings throughout the book.

❌Please Use the Thesaurus, Brenda: Using the same word (even mundane or common words) so close together can not only be dull but distracting. The limits and patterns in her writing are more obvious here.

But what's worse than a lack of creative description is the sloppy and consecutive repetition. When you're using more than three "she/he" in a sentence and in the immediate sentences after... It may be time to rearrange and omit. I couldn't full appreciate some of the love and action scenes because of the unnecessary frequency of some words.

❌Aida: My sister, my sister, my sister. I get it! Molly cares about her sister.... But she prioritizes her so high above anyone else. If Aida didn't approve of Mike I'm convinced Molly would ditch him... Some soul mate.

Also, I don't like her name for some reason. (Why would two siblings have such wildly differing names.)

❌Rehashing old information: so I get that most series will recap on important information. However... This is book 8? We have heard how the soul mating and how vampires are in this world..... Many, many, many times. Sometimes the way characters explain it is like they’re reading it off of a script. Brenda should really try conveying it in fresh new ways. It also makes Mike's dialog/straightforwardness a little awkward.

❌Fizzling passion: I've always liked the passion Brenda puts into her world and I've overlooked a lot of problems in the writing but I'm starting to feel it fizzle out in this one.

Personal enjoyment: 3.5-4 ⭐️

Writing quality: 2.5-3 ⭐️

Great story

Filled with action. Love the story. Love the characters. Sexy. However in my personal opinion, I'm getting tired of the guy not finding the girl attractive. The word fascinating is what she used and it was annoying. She doesn't always do this but it's in a lot of books. In every single book of hers I've read these characters are soulmates. They're protective and sexually aroused by them from the get go but they don't particularly find the girl very attractive? That's annoying. It pretty much makes it seem like the only reason he wanted her to start is because of the whole soulmate thing. She doesn't have to be the most beautiful to everyone else but I'd much prefer that he thought she was.

I love the turn the story took. It was far different from the other 7 books and the 4 alliance books that I’ve read so far but WHY? Why did you let me get this attached to the characters and their family and friends and then do this to me. Ugh

I absolutely love this series, I love how the vampires are portrayed in this world without them being cringy and stereotypical. Mike has been one of my favorite characters (then again all the guys from the first book I've loved since the first time we meet them) and I'm so happy he finally found his mate, he's so sweet and protective from the moment he ends up in the cage next to Mollie and would do anything to keep her safe and get her out. Mollie was also the perfect badass to survive everything that's thrown their way, I also love how loyal she is to her sister and that she would do anything to get her back even when Mike would rather knock her over the head and carry her far, far away. I loved that the plot of this story was so different from the other books because after a while longer series tend to get redundant but this one was completely new while still having the major issues throughout the series. I like how we learned something new about the situation slowly and how we weren't told everything all at once, it built the suspense and gave an added factor of "what the he'll is going on" to the story, making it seem kinda t.v. showish. The only part I absolutely hated was the end at the dock, I never would have guessed that was going to happen but at the same time it wouldn't be as realistic if that didn't happen because they're vampires and their lives are mostly always in danger. Overall I loved this book and how it added into the overall story of the vampire awakening world, I can't wait to read Jack's story and see what he experienced while he was missing.

I put off reading this book, because I heard a rumor about a death that happens and I didn't want to read it. I'm glad that I finally did read it. Although it took me a few days because every time a situation came up with this particular character, I would freeze and close the book. I connect it so well with this character throughout the entire story, series sorry, That I ended up hurting, physically and mentally, emotionally, over the loss of this one character. And it affected me so much that I didn't want to read about it. So I have to say, this was the most heart-wenching death I have ever read. And all I could do was cry. And I'm still crying. It's over but I'm still crying over it. Or at least my heart is. I'm moving on to the next book, which is just another continuation of this death and it's going to kill me when this other character finds out about the his friends death. And it's like, I don't know. My heart just can't take anymore. This was a very good book. I love the couple that got together. I love the fact that the heroine of the book has a sister and she's going to be part of a future book. It's just the death was just so painful. It's like I can see the person that I've created in my head as this character, and I can picture the scene in which he dies and it's like losing a friend. So way to go girl this one's rot.

4.5*s

This story has a seriously demented reality, which for vampires is awesome but... what the what?! I think a piece of me died with this story (in a heartfelt, the story made me cry kind of way!)

David, Jack and Doug wall into a bar... sounds like a bad joke waiting but it’s not, yet, it was a trick on them. Talk about a how do you do. The boys are kidnapped along with many others, humans and vampires alike.

The game is on and let me tell you it’s a freaking awesome game... unless you’re one of the ones now in a cage. Haha. While trying to escape the cage holding him David meets Mollie. Mollie and her sister, Aida have been kidnapped too.

The race is on to not only escape the cages and the savages but to survive the unknown chaos of this fight that was thrust upon them. It’s a lot to take in to start with but in the beginning being separated from Jack and Doug, to be helping a human woman that Mike is growing fond of to the point he knows who she is to him.... things get a little hairy.

I must say, I’m full disclosure mode, I did cry once... dang you Brenda! Lol but it was a great story.

Im so glad next book is out tomorrow cause... I need to know what in the freak happens next!!

Molly and her sister were captured by savages and found themselves in a yearly “game”
Organised by a group of Vampires better known
As Savages.

Mike, Doug and Jack
Find themselves kidnaped so to speak and thrown into the “upcoming game” but Mike escapes with the help
Of Molly and they both set out to find and free both Molly’s sister, Doug and Jack.
Mike and Molly grow closer and Mike realises he has found his mate the one person in this world
Meant for Him.
Without dropping spoilers a bomb is dropped I didn’t see coming that left me dumbfounded and so
So so sad but knowing it happened to protect something so precious to a life long - immortal long - friendship is truly amazing.
We see the whole Gang come back together towards the end to go in search of the one missing piece from the stooges.... Jack.
Amazing read, as always in this series and although parts of this book broke my heart it doesn’t detract from this phenomenal book and series!

Mike and Mollie what an awesome story, I want to call it an adventure but it’s not finished yet, the adventure is not over and yes I know with Vampires being immortal unless they are steamed through the heart and they become headless technically the adventure will never be over but Mike and Mollies adventure has some unfinished business that I just can’t reveal because you just have to read the story and even though I now have to wait, wait, wait for the next book it was really worth the read, tears and happiness included.

When Mollie wakes up in a cage she has no idea what hell hole she has really fallen into.

When Mike wakes up in a cage he wonders how many savages he can kill before he is free from this hell.

When Mike and Mollie team up both of their lives will be changed forever in so many ways.

***SPOILER ALERT*** It’s a fantastic read! A lot of action from the beginning to the end. There is a cliffhanger but in my understanding it will jump to jacks story. It was unfortunate to read about a death of one of the main characters in which I thought was never going to happen. Anyways other than that mike found his better half but the terror and fighting they had to go thru to survive was horrible and sad and so unexpected. I’m happy that one of the stooges found their mate but Doug being gone was a devastating event. I hope doug can find a way back!! There is always a miracle healer out there. Bring Doug back!.... but sometimes stories and in life ever come out the way we want it so I guess I can forgive the author. She is still my favorite author. And just because Doug is gone won’t mean I will stop reading her books. Overall this is a great book and series. Happy reading.

PACKED FULL OF ACTION, SUSPENSE AND SURPRISES

CONSUMED (Book 8 of the Vampire Awakenings Series) will keep you on the edge of your seat with a roller coaster of emotions, twists and turns. Mike is with his childhood friends Jack and Doug when they are taken hostage. Mollie and her sister, Aida, are taken hostage after a flat tire strands them on the side of the road. Little does Mike know when he meets Mollie, in the cage next to his, that she is his Mate. While reading Mike and Mollie’s story, you will be taken on a wild ride that you will never forget. The cliffhanger, at the end, will have you running out to buy UNFORESEEN (Book 9 of the Vampire Awakenings Series). This is why I highly recommend that you read the entire Series. You will NOT be disappointed. Brenda K. Davis is an AMAZING writer and always gives her readers an awesome ride with every one of her stories.
