Wall Street Journal & USA Today bestselling author Emma Slate writes romance with heart and heat.
Called “the dialogue queen” by her college playwriting professor, Emma writes love stories that range from romance-for-your-pants to action-flicks-for-chicks.
When she isn’t writing, she’s usually curled up under a heating blanket with a steamy romance novel and her two beagles—unless her outdoorsy husband can convince her to go on a hike.
Well, my concerns were availed and relieved in the second installment where we spend our time with Quinn and Sasha together trying to find safety and delve into this third installment where their world is blown up yet again. Mind you we knew that it was going to happen, but the fact that they are still a ‘we’ is something commendable. They’ve some how figured out how to get past the trauma and drama of their relationships and some how have come out the other end with something stronger. that’s good cause we know they’re going to be tested over and over and over again.
throughout this third installment, we watch several things unfold. Helena, Quinn and Ori’s daughter is born, and they hide her from Ori, who some how survives a beat down by Sasha, and is in jail, until he’s not. That’s when the story goes awry. He’s taken control of Quinn’s company and he’s trying to draw her out, along with sasha. He also has learned some interesting information that brings another target into the mix – Barrett. How he learned this we never find out but what we do know is that his grandfather has uncovered the true murderer of Igor and that add complications.
Quinn spends much of this third book reminding us that she’s not just pretty – she may not be Barrett but she’s strong, tough, resilient etc. She’s able to do more than people give her credit for and she uses the realtionships that her father cultivated to get what she needs.
She’s a badass.
She devises a plan with the help of the Chinese mafia to take something that kills her…but does it kill her?
She sets a trap for Ori in thehopes of capturing him so that they can be free. does it work?
She plats and plans with her extended family to find loopholes and gaps in things, even when she’s mourning her brother’s death (yup…another one bites the dust).
So there’s so much more to Quinn than meets the eye, and it’s enjoyable to watch how that unfolds in this third book. We see Barrett and Flynn find a new evolution of things, we watch Brandon Kilmartin come to terms with reality and perhaps have a spark of his own elsewhere. We watch relationships with the FBI evolve and perhaps scare us a bit to see how they can work int he future under a new relationship….
So while this is the end of Ember, and perhaps the end of the SINS series as well, there’s a new series that takes us to the Rex Dallas and we know that Ramsey went there, so this is DEFINITELY not the end of the characters and story that we love
Sasha and Quinn have reunited but there is a lot of hurt and a lot of drama/action that they need to get through first before they reach their HEA. The previous 2 books (Ember & Burn) have alluded to what would happen and built the suspense and its finally time for it all to go down. The final book in their trilogy has plenty to capture your attention and focus, so much so that I read it one sitting. To me it kind of felt like there were two endings to this story. One which I thought was the actual ending, when everything seems to have been wrapped up in a bow. Then the chapters after where there was a small time jump and then a few things seemed to be chucked in to tie up any loose ends. I felt that this ‘second ending’, as I’m calling it, was a little rushed but it in no way deters from the book’s ending as the characters are given a HEA worthy of them and I’m so happy that Sasha was given the ending he got, he certainly deserves it.
Emma Slate, I love your books. Sins of the Rex series, excellent. Ember series, equally good. Quinn O'Malley, she used to have everything, now? She's burying her father, the man she loved had walked away. She's struggling, her father had left her his business, she's starting to come to terms with it and her life when she meets an Italian, she's attracted to him, but wary. Then she has a car accident and loses her memory, he lets her believe they are in love. She loved Sasha, but he left. She is lost and alone. Who will save her, who can she trust, who even knows where to find her? If you like your books full of action, death and love, you've hit the jackpot here. Sue P
I didn’t review books 1 & 2 of this series because I wanted to wait until I finished the whole story first. OMG, so damn good! Suspense, intrigue, deceit, lust, lies, violence and love all wrapped up in this series. Slate even throws a crazy love triangle in the mix. Really enjoyed this series, gotta say book 2 had me so frustrated, with Quinn vascilating between Sasha and Ori. Ugh, I just didn’t know where her heart would land when it came to those two even though I had held out hope for the big sexy Russian, Sasha... But, love finds a way somehow and loose ends seem to tie up neatly after a crap ton of suspense and angst...
I really wanted to like this book but unfortunately it was too soap opera for me. I just could not get past that Telenovela type of drama. Who loved each other and main characters relationship was kind of meh, I felt that Sasha loved Barrett and Quinn loved Ori.
Maybe I felt it like this because there was nothing between them, but a h talk and dreams about Sasha. I have not read her other books of Barrett and Flynn so maybe their love was written there, I don't know but reading here and now this series I felt nothing for the main characters, but a lot for Quinn and Ori.

Quinn and sasha reunion... It's a real page turner. the characters and simple plot drive this although I was a little disappointed with the delivery, it was gripping but it was rushed at the end. It's very frustrating wanting to review a book without any spoilers so I will be as honest as I can, it's a cracking series and really worth a look with good characters and dialogue.
Wow I have had these books on my kindle for a while and goodness know how I waited to read them loved Flynn and Barrett ... Quinn and Sasha ... equally as hot and all the added in family characters... don’t want to say too much to spoil the plot but ... this author will definitely be my to go to read now ... highly recommend ... would read sons series first to get the full effect of the ember series 😍
Loved the ending but at the same time, saddened it's over. I am going to miss this cast of amazing characters. The unraveling and revealing was exceptional. Definitely a one-click author for myself. I highly recommend this series Thanks Jamie Nibarger Ellis
Every book of the SINS series just continued to get better and better. I laughed, I cried, I fell in love with characters, and my heart broke for characters. You cannot go wrong with reading this series. Warning though, you will be completely lost with what to do once it's over.
I started the first book this morning..... it’s a good thing today is Saturday!!!! After the first chapter I couldn’t stop until I had read all three books!!! I loved this story and everyone in it!!!❤️❤️
Loved this series just like the Rex with Flynn and Barrett. There is always so much action going on. And little twirl at and turns! I am wonder about Ramsey!?!? Will he get his own book?
This set of book will have you hooked from page one! I did not want to set my kindle down until I was done! I recommend this to everyone, be ready for an amazing read!
Well that was a rollercoaster of twists and turns brilliant loved it, I'm glad Quinn and Sasha got the HEA.....loved the way we still had all the characters from Sins of the rex loved it thanks
Did you ever pick up a book and could not put it down?? Well I started the Ember series at 8 am and finished entire series by 2 am.. I so recommend this 5 star series. You will be hooked by love and devotion of Emma Slates characters
I read all 3 books in this trilogy in one day! I love these characters. Even though the stories aren’t realistic, their relationships and love for each other are, and it’s so easy to spend hours being dragged into their lives!
Overall the series is about 3.5 stars, no more than 4 stars. The twists and turns get better, but still predictable. So glad Sasha got his happy ending. I felt kinda bad for the guy, but Barrett and Flynn are still my fave characters.
Beautiful book that broke my heart just to rebuild it! My only issue is I wish Quinn would’ve found her backbone a little earlier but when she does watch out!
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It was exciting. There is kidnapping, return of a past love, a wedding, a birth, and deathly encounters. The good get their HEA while the bad get what they deserved. HEA. Recommend this theories and this book. Enjoy.
A fanfreakingtasic read. An emotional journey that gives you all the feels. Simply beautiful levels of brilliant of storytelling. Onto the next fabulous book in this amazing series.
