Concise and elegantly written non-fiction books and audiobooks help you learn the core subject matter in 20% of the time that it takes to read a typical book. Life is short, so explore a multitude of fascinating historical, biographical, scientific, political, and financial topics in only an hour each. William Wallace started out as a humble knight, but he died a war hero. He gave up everything in his fight for Scottish freedom, including his life. When captured, Wallace was hung, drawn, and quartered by the English king for crimes against the crown. Though he was memorialized in the 1995 film Braveheart, this book shows how much of what we associate with Wallace is more legend than fact. Still, the spirit of the great Scotsman lives on in the hearts and minds of his compatriots today.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.
I quite enjoyed this book. I learnt something new and the book was informative and easy to follow. Worth a read if you don't know anything about William Wallace.
Since I really don't know anything about William Wallace AKA Braveheart or Scottish history, I decided to see what I could learn from this quick listen.
This is good brief overview of the story of William Wallace, who has gone down in history as a martyr for the Scottish cause. Since most of what I knew about him came from Hollywood, I found this true history to be very different and a whole lot less romantic!
These 60 minute learning listens are great for those of us who only want a brief introduction to a subject. If the reader is interested in more in-depth information, this is a great place to start to see if the subject is one that they are truly interested in for the long haul.
The narrator does a good job and kept my interest throughout this quick book. I was given the chance to listen to this book through Audiobook Boom! and chose to review it.
This book is informative, well written and probably contains most of what's actually known about the popular Scottish hero as well as some of the rumors and legends connected with his name. Alexander Doddy does an excellent job of reading the Audible version, lending a bit of "atmosphere" to the narration with his wonderful accent. Possibly the best of the In60 books I've seen so far.
William Wallace: The Spirit of a Scottish Martyr was another good quick read by in60Learning. William Wallace died a war hero who gave up everything to fight for Scottish freedom. I thought this was a great quick read that teaches you a lot in only sixty minutes.
Very interesting book. Goes deep into the truth about William Wallace. A flawed man who tried to free his country, but still became a legend and inspiration to many.
A very good introduction to our favorite Scottish martyr.Alexander Doddy was a fine narrator.I was given this book by the narrator, author or publisher free for an honest review.
