A new dimension of living awaits you! This book will take you beyond ordinary living into: A creative way of life A world of answered prayer Dynamic faith True communion with God
Of all the books demonstrating the spiritual walk with the Devine, this book tops them all! Dr. Paul Yonggi Cho demonstrates the Biblical phrase "...The natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned (1 Corinthians 1:14)." All the dynamics for spiritual greatness, in the Kingdom of God, are clearly portrayed in this awesome book; relating to: "These miraculous signs will accompany those who believe."
Dr. David Yonggi Cho (formerly known as Paul Yonggi Cho) is a Koren Christian minister who pastors an Assemblies of God of the world’s largest congregations with a membership of 1,000,000 (as of 2007).
This is a great book of faith. Don't waste time reading on stuffs that has no proof. The Patriarchs received a good report(testimony) by faith. -Hebrews 11
I've been going through some of my late Grandma's books. This is one I wasn't planning on reading, but someone else I knew insisted I read a certain chapter, which led to reading the whole thing. This is a 1970's book I wouldn't recommend to many Christians, but it was clearly for me at this time in my life. There's a lot of so-called Pentecostal/charismatic type stuff, bordering on prosperity gospel in places. (And according to Wikipedia the South Korean pastor who is the author eventually got into trouble in the 2000's for something financially shady. That does not necessarily nor immediately discount everything he has done or will do, of course.) The "Fourth Dimension" term is also not accurate, if you ask me, although as soon as it became clear what he actually meant by "Fourth Dimension" I was able to roll with it. He just means the unseen spiritual elements of everyday life.
However, grains of salt aside, Paul Yonggi Cho has several startling insights which make the book interesting: - about how to pray (be specific, not general, because Yhwh is a specific God) - the power over your life of what you say or believe about yourself: many people and psychologists already know this, but the chapter in this book is the best teaching, Christian or non-, that I have seen on the subject. - a moving story about communists persecuting pastors in the Korean war that is a strong challenge to the reader to keep the faith. - a chapter about finding your purpose in life which was similarly different than standard motivational teachings I have encountered before, and I think it will be helpful in my own life. - a chapter about the "renewing your mind" that Paul encourages/commands Christians to do... What it looks like, how it works, who does it, what to pray for, and similar. Also different, also helpful.
The book ends abruptly by discussing "where" God is (inside of every believer) by presenting four obstacles to God being able to work in a believer's life. I was expecting a list that was something like sexual sin, unbelief, selfishness, and other common targets of modern sermons. His list had none of them, and was thought provoking.
For someone that has fallen back and finding my way back once again, I found this book an igniter to my faith and how I see it. There are so many tidbits of wisdom to take to heart that I felt compelled to read through it in one sitting. With so many things still to learn we still have no idea about the working of the Holy Spirit. Through Dr Cho's telling past experiences in my life made more sense and gave me a better insight into this realm so real as the chair I am sitting on. The power of the fourth dimension is literally a word away. A must-read for every Christian that wants to follow Christ and walk in victory.
At first I was very skeptical of this book being written by the pastor of a big Assemblies of God church, and I would hold to my original skepticism in that there were many parts of the book which I disagree with Dr. Cho on, mainly to do with his attitude toward miracles and he also has a tendency to make everything about humans instead of God, oftentimes doing what I consider limiting God's sovereignty. This being said, I did actually think there were many aspects of this book which rebuked my life at the moment and got me to change my way of thinking. This was the right book for me to read as it helped to keep me grounded and not just dismiss all pentecostal teachings and I learnt a lot from it, especially the difference between _logos_ and _rehma_ which I hadn't considered before. Overall a good book if you are able to not take what he said out of context and see through some of the bad wording, and in my opinion occasional bad theology.
This is a book that formed my mother’s faith and she passed it down to me.
What can I say about this book? In a Christian landscape that is often filled with repetitive and trite works, this book genuinely informs readers of transformational spiritual principles from a man who has clearly used them to revolutionize his life. This book is an intimate primer on how to partner with Heaven in very practical terms. I recommend this book to any believer who is seeking breakthrough in their life.
This book provides practical steps for walking in faith even in the face of hostility and negativity. Yonggi Cho teaches the believer how to access his God given creative power by providing material for the Holy Spirit to work with.
This book is broken into 2 volumes, one written in the 1970’s and another in the 1980’s. You can really see Dr. Cho’s mastery of the written word in the 2nd volume as he frequently digs into the Greek meaning of words and how it changes the original interpretation of scriptures.
Volume 1 centers around the concept of incubation in the spiritual realm or the 4th dimension. Dr. Cho gives several testimonies including his personal testimony which were all wonderfully inspiring. He was on his deathbed as a teenager dying of tuberculosis when a sweet Christian girl sat by his bed and explained the Gospel to him. This experience and subsequent miraculous healing inspired David Cho to read the Word of God and learn to speak out the Rhema word of God to receive what was needed in his life.
Volume 2 centers around The Holy Spirit and his Work in the believer, the Rhema Word vs. Logos Word of God, The creative ability of your words, The renewing of your mind, and Love as a force in the world. Dr. Cho explains that the Holy Spirit comes to us on 3 different levels: 1. He is with us (conviction of sin). 2. He is in us (new birth). 3. He is upon us (in fullness). If we desire to experience the things of God, and not just sit in a pew ever learning more theology....we must learn to work with the Holy Spirit in a personal way. Volume 2 almost feels as if it’s written by an entirely different person as the flow and insight were exponentially higher than what was written in volume 1.
My takeaways: God desires specific prayers and not vague prayers Our words have power to change our situations, health, and mind. We must fellowship with the Holy Spirit in order to access the 4th dimension.
Even though the book is very selective in its approach and handling different aspects of authentic, experience based christian living, which may feel a bit limiting, it is a must read and I highly recommend it. He is no prosperity gospel preacher since Dr.Yonggi Cho in his life has seen the days of joy and and days of trial. His approach to living a blessed life is something I practise in my life. If you want to live a focussed life on earth communing with the Lord, without asking the big questions in ontology or eschatology this book is for you. Sure it doesn't address many aspects but the dose is just the right amount
Such an incredible book about the role and power of our minds, words, and prayers. I was a little nervous in the first few chapters because this felt more like a manifestation manual. I actually put it away for a few weeks. However, as the book progresses, the reader is taught about the preeminent role of scripture and the Lord’s authority over us as we access the fourth dimension. This was a book lent to me by a dear friend and prayer partner and I will definitely be purchasing my own copy before I return hers!
The only memorable excerpt I could remember from this book was the dichotomy between logos and rhema. Logos is the general idea of something, while rhema is God's voice speaking to us.
I don't believe tuberculosis can be cured "instantly," even with faith. God's rhema suggests action, after all.
This was my second time reading this. Hit a little different this time....the over simplification of the "do this" and this will happen skates over the many nuances that make up a relationship with Christ.
Excellent read. Very easily understood. A fresh look at faith. Explains that there is more to receiving by faith that simply confessing the Word. Encourages visualization or meditation.
